About this property

Entire high-quality lodge well equipped and tranquil - See ALBINO deer!

Named for the many magical albino deer in the area, you are almost guaranteed seeing one or more of them during your stay. You will enjoy all the comforts of home, with peaceful seclusion and an endless supply of nature, only 15 miles off the Great River Road. Relax in the whirlpool or in front of the fireplace of this beautiful three-story lodge located on our organic farmland in the scenic Waumandee Valley, where our grandparents settled years before us - in fact, the main support pole in the kitchen was a tree planted by them. White Deer Lodge can be the perfect escape from your hectic everyday life - a bit of relaxation, adventure, and quite, mixed with a touch of romance, but there have been plenty of parties here as well! Bikers have indicated the roads that run by the lodge are some of their favorite in the world! Enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery of the Midwest. Bounded by three rivers, the Mississippi, the Trempealeau and the Chippewa, Buffalo County is rich in history and recreational opportunities. The 2500 sq. foot lodge is rented to only one party. Fully stocked kitchen, game room with foosball table, gas grill, air conditioned, 3 TV's, walk out patio and wrap around deck. Now with Wi-Fi

Beautiful property
This place is amazing, if you’re looking for a getaway in the middle of no where this is the place to go. The owners had some great recommendations and they even have a book with all the nearby places to checkout. I’ll be staying here again in the future!

Cozy peace and quiet
Wonderful stay! I was looking for a quiet cabin away for a weekend and this was perfect! It was spacious, clean, cozy, and well stocked so I could cook there. There was very minimal traffic and it felt very tucked away! The hosts had the cabin ready early and were so kind, professional, and easy to communicate with. Definitely can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful lodge
We had such a good stay at this property! The view was beautiful and secluded, and the binder with information about local places to eat and nearby towns was helpful in finding us some hidden gems :) will definitely be staying here again!

About the host

Host profile image
Roger has been an organic dairy farmer for the last 43 years, keeping the family farm for the 3rd generation. Michelle works at Saint Mary's University in Winona, MN. We have two grown children who both reside local and we have been recently blessed with one wonderful grandchild. We both appreciate traveling and staying at nice places without having to pay alot of money. This lodge is our way of giving that to others.

Why they chose this property

We originally thought of building a "small lodge" for a rental unit because of all the guests and hunters that came to enjoy this beautiful area. It turned in to be a 2500 sq. foot "house". We thought that if it didn't go over very well, we could move into this after we retire or sell it with a couple of the 800 acres of organic farmland that surrounds it. It doesn't look like we will be moving in anytime soon as it has been booked ever since we built it! We have wood from the farm on the walls and a beam in the kitchen was a tree planted by Roger's great-grandfather. We did much of the inside work ourselves, built with love - that we enjoy sharing with others. It really is a little piece of heaven. We still are amazed every time we see the albino deer, so you can imagine how our guests feel when they see them for the first time! Come RELAX and ENJOY! Within a 10-15 minute drive, you can visit a winery, go to an outdoor wood-fired pizza area, eat at a brand new Italian restaurant that overlooks an entire valley, get groceries, go golfing, go boating, go to Mississippi Thunder Speedway racing, or just sit and watch the wildlife.

What makes this property unique

Most unique about our lodge are the magical albino deer. These can be seen right from the huge trapezoid windows of the lodge or sitting on the deck. They never seize to amaze!
Many guests also comment about the falling stars and the fireflies, which many people can not experience when they live in town.
Each guest that stays leaves us comments that bring tears to our eyes with joy. One quote a guest left read "On our first night here, my new wife and I made our first promise to each other - aside from our wedding vows, We promised that once we pass on, since this is heaven, we will meet each other here. Until then we hope to return a few more times - perhaps with our children."
Our kitchen is fully stocked, all linens are provided and there is even a washer and dryer on site if needed. The lodge is kept very clean, which guests appreciate. A foosball table is on the lower level.
You will enjoy 3 full-size bathrooms, one with a jacuzzi, one with a shower and one with a shower/tub combination.
There is a lot of wildlife at the lodge. It is not unusual to see raccoon, turkey and bald eagle and of course many deer, including the albino.
