Michael and Dawna could not be nicer hosts. They had everything we needed for our family of 5, even access to their extensive spice collection, stocked paper towels, toilet paper, detergent, floss, lotion- the works ! They really went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. The property itself is very secluded. I liked that all 3 bedrooms are located on the same floor. At night we could hear owls which was really cool and during the day we picked fruit from a variety of hearty fruit trees on the property (lemons the size of baseballs , limes, oranges, grapes, advocados , and figs). There is no traffic where the house is tucked back on a private road and it Is so peaceful and quiet . We did a lot of day trips during our stay- Monterey , 17 mile drive , San Fransico , big basin , Santa Cruz, etc and chose the house for its central location . There is a little market , coffee shop and pizza shop nearby. Of course downtown Santa Cruz is not a far drive and that has a lot to offer. Loved their iron skillets for cooking and reverse osmosis system drinking water from the mountain spring. We are from Maryland and couldn’t believe we could sleep with the half door open and no bugs came in. Perfect weather at night . Oh and the hummingbirds come out to visit around 6 pm along with the deer. Lovely property , great location, private hot tub, majestic redwoods on the property, lovely hosts - thanks again

About the host
Hosted by Property Manager/Owner /. Michael

Dawna and I lived on the property for 3 years without electricity ( we had a generator) during that time, we harvested redwoods. We had the redwood milled into lumber. The lumber dried for over 2 years. During this time period , we also had 2 children and adopted a 9 year old boy. We then developed the property. We designed and built our home using the redwood lumber from the land. We also brought in electricity, developed the artisan well and paved the private road. We raised our four children at our home. They continue to come back and stay as often as possible, They and our 14 grandchildren love the home as much as we do. The homes name is Kopjekia, which is an Africiakans word that means: mountain home. It had this name when we bought the property. (Quite a story about the name)
We truly love the home and property. You will too. !!!!!!!
