We had a wonderful long weekend retreat at this cabin in Highlands! This is the perfect home for 2 couples with pets! We even saw a bear in the backyard one day!

Terrific Mountain Cottage

The house was well appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed the cozy fireplace seating area. The location is very close to downtown Highlands and is perfect for one or two couples. We would stay here again!

Great location!

We have stayed in many areas of Highlands/Cashiers and love most of them. This location was great, especially with the dogs. We could walk them down to Mountain Fresh for coffee and breakfast, then a little shopping. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Peaceful Retreat

This was a perfect home in a peaceful setting. It had everything we needed for our stay, and we loved sitting on the covered back porch every morning and afternoon. It is a short drive into downtown Highlands, and close to hiking trails. We would definitely stay here again!

Comfortable Space in a Beautiful Place

This home is very well maintained and perfect for two couples or four friends. The ability to bring the pups, who loved lazing on the huge back porch, was a big treat! Owners sent great information in advance and made everything easy. Would definitely stay here again!

Excellent cottage in wonderful location!

Fantastic place to stay - impeccably clean, a perfectly sized 2 bedroom/ 2 bath with a huge back porch. So comfortable in every way. The property manager was incredibly easy to reach and communicate with prior to our stay - quick responses. Overall, it was just absolutely magnificent! Thank you for our stay!

Cozy and comfortable

This home was just what we needed to relax . Everything was at our fingertips. We could sit on the lovely porch and enjoy the outdoors or relax in the living room in comfortable chairs. We came for conversation with old friends and spent most of our time enjoying one another in the comfort of this home . We went into town and ate at a wonderful Italian restaurant and had a cocktail at the Old Edward's Inn. Highlands was so laid back and the stores filled with unique gifts for those back home . It was a delightful stay and I highly recommend this lovely home for a great stay !

Highlands 2023

Ferncliff cottage was a perfect place to beat the Florida heat for a few weeks. The cottage is in a private community and very well equipped. The host was very responsive and helpful.

Great escape from the Charlotte heat!

This was a perfect place to get away from the het and enjoy a peaceful time with friends. We loved our stay and will probably come back. Owner was the most responsive that we've ever dealt with. Only minor issues that were resolved in minutes. They could set the example fo other VRBO owners.

Beautiful Winter Retreat

Our time at Ferncliff Cottage was just wonderful! The cottage was beautifully and comfortably appointed and the layout was perfect for our family of 2 plus doggie. The weather was cool and rainy during our stay, so we really enjoyed relaxing in front of the fire. Close proximity to town was great for visits to the shops and Bascom, and we enjoyed a beautiful walk at the Nature Center that is really close by as well. Mountain Fresh was also great for takeout and special treats. The hosts were fantastic to deal with - very responsive and quickly answered our questions before and during our stay. The furniture and beds were so comfy, the cottage was supplied with everything we needed and we can't wait to return to Ferncliff for another visit.

Musty damp house

Musty, screens unattached, no a/c would have benefited from attic fan or such. Mold in shower walls/ceiling. Furniture damp from humidity. Musty smell in general and in cabinets in kitchen. Front screen door screen torn loose, not new.

Nice but needs improvement

The location was close to town but in a quiet neighborhood. You walk to town but it is all uphill going back. Good for exercise but don’t plan on doing this for dinner. The back porch was extremely pleasant. I think there would be a great view in the winter. The interior is nicely appointed; wood floors, comfortable beds and furniture. Fireplace was great though it would turn off randomly for no reason. We stayed during high season in the summer and I know there were guests that checked out earlier the same day we checked in. However, the cabin could have been cleaner. The primary bedroom smelled so much like dog pee, we didn’t use it. The next day I remopped the floor in the corner of the bed room where the odor was coming from and solved the problem. While I was browsing for a book to read, I discovered that the book shelves were extremely dusty. Also needed to wash some glasses before we used them, but that is not unusual for a rental. It could also use some TLC: broken shelf in one of closets, broken screens on front door, and cabin exterior needs painted with rotting wood replaced, which I hope will be fixed when they don’t have back to back renters. Also, be aware that there is no air conditioning. Cleaning supplies and paper goods were provided but toiletries were not. The property owners were responsive and extremely nice. It is worth staying at as I believe the owners will fix the issues.
