A beautiful tropical style custom home featuring private ocean views and a gated pool. Our home was thoughtfully designed to maximize Hawaiian indoor/outdoor living and entertaining in a manicured park-like setting. A palm lined driveway leads you to a single level 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath residence located in the exclusive Pepeekeo Point subdivision, approximately 15 minutes from Hilo. This home features a small gated fiberglass pool with a bamboo pavilion and bbq for entertaining The bright and airy open concept kitchen, dining and living areas overlook expansive lawns with ocean views. A beautiful garden featuring longan, lychee , lemon and orange trees complete the property. Please check with Orchard Manager before picking fruit. We do have geckos that like to hang out on the lanai and will occasionally enter the home. We coexist happily with our gecko friends as they eat mosquitos and less desirable critters. Excellent location to be close enough to Hilo and the surrounding area without giving up any privacy. Great house with a perfect pool for the kids. We felt safe and secure the whole time with the gated entrances. Would stay here again - super peaceful!
We did not get a chance to enjoy the pool but it was sparkling clean. We definitely enjoyed the FOUR dining areas; inside near kitchen, front porch and the grill out back by the pool was super clean and that table was a great place to relax. there was only one room with AC but PLENTY of fans (dont forget to check the closets!) and with the windows open it was very nice. There is also a public walking path to the cliffs right down the road and I highly recommend it. I would 100% stay here again if I was in Hilo! I can't imagine a better place to come home to in the evenings. Don't forget to wake up and walk out front to catch the AMAZING sunrise. The host was great and personally brought over an iron when I asked if there was a way to iron clothes.10/10!
Everything about this place was good, my grandchildren loved the pool, and it was amazing to sit on the Lanai at night and listen to the coqui frogs and watch the geckos catch insects. Dealing with Suzanne was very easy and efficient and we would definitely go back there again
We had a wonderful time on property, had everything we needed. Would have liked a/c and less chickens, but the pool, grill, kitchen and view made up for it.
Beautiful view, houses exactly as described. Pool was sparkling clean. Did not see any bugs in the house during our entire day. Would definitely stay here again.!
Meeting Ray, the Orchard Manager, was a highlight staying at this home! Took us on a tour, was informative, friendly, and generous with his time.

Beautiful and Quiet
The house is beautiful and spacious. Located in a quiet private road, this home is truly a piece of paradise – perfect location for relaxation. The only complaint we have was the lack of kitchen items available (bowls, cups, utensil, and no dishwasher). Overall, we had a wonderful stay.

Great stay
Everything was fine. The laundry machine wasn’t working and the owner came over right away after I sent a message. Great service! To be honest, I wouldn’t stay here for more than two nights. There was not lot to do in the vicinity. We stayed here because we wanted to visit Mauna Kea. Afterwards I would have stayed here for one night.
We were delighted at this property’s cleanliness, as well as both its remoteness and close proximity to Hilo town. It was a perfect place to reconnect with and enjoy our college-aged sons. The home was clean, breezy and its kitchen supplied everything we needed for multiple meals together at home. Walks along Beach Road and the shore access (a short walk) were powerfully impactful. The pool was a cool respite on warm afternoons. Thank you, Suzy!
Very quiet neighborhood North of Hilo. You have to drive to get to anything, but this is a nice house that is decorated well and has everything you need. Very comfortable even without AC. It does get buggy, which is normal for the area.
I also liked being in a house, but not feeling like I was staying IN someone’s home.
We absolutely loved our stay here (family of 5, with 3 children, ages 18, 13 and 11). The location is private, with plenty of space for everyone. Well appointed kitchen. The pool is quite small, and best suited for young children. The outside living area was great, though we didn’t use this at all. The breeze on the porch was lovely, and we spent mornings/evenings enjoying our coffee and wine, respectively.Games were included so we played Scrabble and Sorry a few nights. Lots of fun.Suzy was an incredible host-communicative up front and during our stay. She was even able to accommodate a late checkout for us due to later flights on our last day.We would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay near Hilo. Easy access to many sites!

How to make this a "Five Stars" Rental
The hale was great; location, cleanliness and property itself AND the interactions with the host were all outstanding...other things not so much.
o The smoke detector in the kitchen was missing and the one in the master was hanging down by a wire.
o The switch for the fan in the master would only work on high--too loud for sleeping, or low--too weak to make a difference. The medium speed---what was needed at night does not work.
o The outside shower by the pool is unusable. The door is falling off and the weeds are overgrowing the floor. While the listing does not specifically mention the shower in "Outside" amenities, it is prominently pictured (pix 2/19 & 5/19) and was part of the reason we chose this home. We were very disappointed not to be able to use it.
o There were no pads for the Adirondack chairs on the back deck.
But for a group of five, who cooked meals there extensively, the kitchen is woefully equipped. While the basics were there, but only the bare minimum. Sorry if this sounds effete but the most glaring shortcoming is that all the drinking vessels are PLASTIC. A great property like this deserves basic glassware for use indoors and on the lanai. Sure some will be broken and need to be replaced but that is the cost of renting a vacation home.
Further, you will NOT find baking dishes, salad spinner, Tupperware, place mats, cloth napkins, tongs for indoor use or serving platters. Also the toaster oven was broken and the toaster only does two pieces at a time.
Would we come back? Maybe but only if the items we mention in this review are attended to.
Was it a good place to stay? Yes, but it could have been (as they say) mucha-mo-bettah eeh and earned five stars.
This is the first time I have stayed someplace where the photos did not do justice to the house. It was better than the photos. We loved it and our family kept walking around saying "wow." Plenty of room for six adults. The pool was just big enough for cooling off. The property gave us plenty of privacy. We enjoyed the porch and the bbq deck. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was great.
This house was perfect and just as advertised! Myself and my friends had an absolute blast spending our days BBQ-ing near the pool area and our nights outside on the huge patio…. Had trouble entering the first gate upon arrival, however I was able to reach the property owner right away! Great communication from the time we booked until the day we left. I would definitely stay here again! Mahalo!!!
Property was good but has several faults that could have been fixed prior to our arrival, some had been reported prior to our arrival but had not been carried out.
Cleaning team needs to pay more attention to windows and out side guest areas.
Kitchen needs to be better stocked, we ended up buying two non-stick pans, teaspoons and dish towels.
Need to install more A/C units, only having one does little help to remaining 2 bedrooms.
Fix the fans so they work as designed, this fault had reported by other guest, simple fix buy new electric wall slide switches.
Pool area deck needs to be power washed and weeds removed from deck cracks.
Remove cob-webs from around tech areas.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Not only is the home beautiful, but the property is very special. Met Ray the gentleman who took care of the grounds he gave us a very interesting tour and explained the fruit trees. Also had minor problem with leaking toilet and it was repaired immediately.
I loved this location. While the view of the water is now greatly diminished due to vegetation having grown much taller and while the size of the pool is much smaller than the picture implies; I had a wonderful time and will come back again. Birds during the day and frogs during the night. I felt I was experiencing old Hawaii. The private location of the house allows one to truly relax and unwind. Frank, the rooster came for a piece of bread every morning and I miss him already.
