I have stayed a few times at the Marriott Mountain Valley Lodge and returned because it is in general a great property and location. The owner seems like good person. I had missed payment deadline because I forget. I immediately paid. But owner was cool for not cancelling.
Albeit, the owner should consider paying the Marriott to service the unit rather than trying to save some $ and manage it himself. The unit was not as up to the standards that the Marriott managed units are based on my previous experience. Here are the reasons.
- I am working professional and have always used the room safe for my work devices when staying at MMVL. The owner has it locked or unusable.
- White comforters did not appear clean and were yellowish. Concerns about the rest of the sheets and covers.
- Two small bars of soap and one small shampoo. No backup stock. Marriott was nice enough to give some.
- One of the two closet doors didn't open.
- Missing electrical plate on wall socket.
- Humidifier had old water in it.
- Attempts to communicate through VBRO messaging with manager or owner never received responses.
Overall, unit has great bones, great high floor views and the MMVL is one of the best buildings in Breck near town and lifts IMO. So I would book this unit again over other options in town if you do not need more space. But if a unit managed by Marriott were available, I would book those first. Maybe owner should consider paying Marriott to manage/maintain the unit.
