Fantastic Island Getaway at Sunset Captiva 48
THE BEST LOCATION ON CAPTIVA! More than 30 restaurants have reopened and our unit has no damage!
Welcome to Sunset Captiva #48! Sunset Captiva #48 is an extraordinary vacation home for up to six. It is located right in the Captiva Village Center, where you’ll find it so convenient to step out for coffee or a snack, shop at the Island Store, or enjoy a meal at one of the fine restaurants! Steps from the world famous Mucky Duck, where you can enjoy the best sunsets and live music on the island! Both the beach and bay are an easy stroll, all within the Sunset Captiva community.
#48 is located on a cul-de-sac at the very end of Oster Court. The home feels secluded: nearly hidden in a thriving tropical forest and garden. Within the wall of greenery is a private lawn area with outdoor seating including a picnic table, with a separate staircase up to the rear lanai. Also on the ground level you'll find an outdoor shower and sand-rinse, plus a shell sorting bench for after your beach forays. There are 2 bikes for your use, along with a collection of beach supplies: umbrellas, chairs, toys, a beach cart, and more. Please note we provide these items for the convenience of our guests-we cannot guarantee their condition or functionality. Guests and environmental conditions are very tough on these items. If you require top notch/brand new items there are local rental companies to provide them.
The main-level screened lanai is a great gathering place and has an outdoor dining table, and cushioned seating for five with new furniture.
The upper level sundeck faces east to catch the morning and midday sunshine while enjoying some afternoon shade. One end has two loungers and a table, while the other end has two wicker chairs, a table, and a storage chest. This sundeck is accessible through either bedroom suite, and is exceptionally private - perfect for morning coffee or sunbathing.
The living room has a sectional with chaise, and a chair with ottoman - all facing the fireplace and HDTV with 200+ channels and a 3D BluRay / DVD player (fireplace is not functional). Adjoining is the dining room with seating for six, and a bar with cabinets, stemware, and wine supplies.
The kitchen is stocked with utensils: if you have it at home, its probably here too (including a Keurig coffee maker). The refrigerator / freezer offers filtered water and ice. The appliances have recently been replaced and the countertops are new quartz. The laundry room has full size washer / dryer, and a large library of DVDs for old school movie nights. Also on the main level is a guest half bath (powder room).
#48 is set up to be a family-friendly home, and kids are most welcome (but pets are not). ***Queen sized air mattress available upon advanced request.
Upstairs are two bedroom suites plus a sleeping nook with built in bunk beds. The master suite has a new king bed and mattress topper, a full-size dresser with mirror, a TV hutch with additional drawers and an HDTV. You can watch the sunset from the master bed, though we recommend witnessing it from the beach! The extra-wide bathroom vanity has plenty of surface area. Opposite the vanity is a full closet with two gliding mirrored doors. Through a pocket door is the separate chamber with toilet and shower, plus linen closet. The spa-like shower stall is double size and features four body spray heads in addition to the rain shower head. Continuing on is a door opening onto the upper-level sundeck.
The guest suite has two twin beds, a full-size dresser plus a tall chest of drawers, an HDTV and DVD player, and another door to the sundeck. There is a full closet plus a linen closet. The bathroom has a two-sink vanity and a separate toilet / shower chamber with tub.
A short walk from the unit and within Sunset Captiva you will find 3 large gas grills, 2 tennis/pickle ball courts, and the pool - all available for guest use at no charge (subject to availability and maintenance). Also within Sunset Captiva you will find a dock with slips on an as available basis.
Steps from the unit is YOLO - the perfect place to rent anything else you would like to enjoy during your vacation - including golf carts, wave runners, and sailboats!

Nice beach house in a great location. Highly recommend renting a golf cart from neighboring YOLO for a fun way to cruise around the island. (not needed, just fun!) Delicious island restaurants within walking distance. We ate at Keylime Bistro, The Green Flash- Boops and Captiva Cantina. The general store is just down the street- and has anything you may have forgotten. Community pool was clean and well-maintained, beach access was great- beautiful beach location. House was as described, comfortable and clean. Nice surprise to have a partial water view of the bay. Definite beach vibe.
This place was perfect for our family, so much space to spread out and super close to anything you want (food, shopping, beach, bay). Inside the home we had everything thing we needed for a entertaining (kitchen stocked with all you need for cooking, DVDs, beach equipment, bikes) And a beautiful relaxing lanai. We could also, watch the sunrise and sunset everyday within in a few steps of this property. We loved this place!!!!!
Neighborhood is a perfect location. Our particular spot backed up to the main road & a business with a loud generator. I would probably pick another unit in the same neighborhood next time. This unit could use a little love, specifically a few tiles in the main floor were broken and near lifting out of the floor. The shower in the master bedroom held water. One of the wooden steps to the front door was also loose. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It was also helpful that there were bikes, umbrellas, chairs, cooler for the beach.

Nice place, but listing was not accurate.
We were a little disappointed. The property was nice, although the kitchen had ants. We reached out to the owners, and they told us they had called Terminix. They never showed. We also called maintenance, but they did not return our call.
We were also disappointed that the listing said there was a hot tub and that wasn't the case.
In addition, the bikes on site were unusable.
The master bedroom was nice, and beds were comfortable. Location is of the complex is great. You are within walking distance to most places.
Overall the house is very nice.

House needs updating
Nice location & good size, but did not warrant the price & fees we paid compared to other Sunset Captiva houses; we booked late.
This house is in need of a deep clean, paint &. new main level flooring. Grout pulled up when we swept the floors. Grimy light switches (I washed some just to feel cleaner when cooking), dirty shag rug (brown but supposed to be white!), kitchen baseboard pulled away from wall, caulk coming up in the master shower, etc. Closets had peeling paint, rusted door rails & smelled musty.
The master bathroom has a pocket door on old metal rails that will wake up anyone sleeping if you use the bathroom at night.
We will come back to Sunset Captiva because of the proximity to beach & restaurants, but have chosen another house.

Pam – sorry to hear you were disappointed in your stay, however given our communication during the week I am not surprised. From when you showed up well before your check-in time with no advanced request and didn’t seem appreciative at all that we let you in to store your things and groceries while the cleaners were still there and we were installing new appliances, I had an inkling you would be a problematic guest. I also have to say it was rather baffling when more than halfway through your stay your husband sent me multiple texts claiming that the beach chairs and umbrellas were unusable because they were wet from the rain and suggested he go buy new ones that would be dry and that I reimburse him. Additionally, it was a quite a parting touch that you left multiple trash bins strewn about the yard with trash spilling out of them, and left blood on and in the refrigerator, as well as throughout the kitchen. For someone so concerned with cleanliness, that seems curious.
We take pride in our property and providing our guests with a quality stay. Just in the last 6 months we have purchased new lanai furniture, kitchen appliances, a rain shower, chandelier, picnic table, upgraded mattresses etc. etc. and we have plans for many further upgrades to the property. It is disheartening when a guest clearly acts in bad faith, which given some of your complaints, bizarre requests, and the condition you left the property, you certainly did.
The unit is quite dated. For example, all of the appliances need to be updated, particularly the fridge which has a large sticker-type wear stain on the front and a completely broken vegetable bin. For the price being charged for the unit, it's also time to switch out the formica countertops. Even the collection of some 100+ DVDs shows the age of the unit. My wife was particularly displeased with the cable, which only carried the local stations and a handful of others. Also, in the master bath, the faucet was basically inoperable, with it not being properly attached, and the cold handle not really working at all. There is also no pantry, nor even space to put groceries, which we found to me a significant inconvenience. We did like the lanai, except the for TV which is on it, which we couldn't turn on. The unit is also in need of some basic TLC, some painting, changing of light bulbs which were burnt out (with no replacements), replacing spent remote batteries (again no replacements), etc. We do like Sunset Captiva and have stayed in units there a number of times.

So sorry to hear you had some issues with your stay with us David. I wish you would have contacted me during your stay so we could have remedied some of the problems you had! We do our best to make sure the unit is well taken care of and restocked when necessary. We have tightened the sink handles and upgraded the cable package to 200+ channels and 800 Mbps wi-fi speed. We have also restocked the light bulb and battery supply. We hope you will give us another try in the future!
House was in a great location- close enough to walk to store, restaurants, Marina. Neighborhood was lovely with a pool and private beach access. Rental included everything we needed! Beach gear, books, games and movies included. We rented a golf cart and that worked out great but bikes were available as well. The house is decorated nicely with beach feel. Loved the screened porch for reading in the evening. Host was always available by message and responded promptly and willing to solve any issues/questions before and during the rental. Overall a wonderful host and stay.

Greathouse, awesome location
Everything was fantastic, except a couple of minor items regarding how to check in, and who to contact if you have any questions. There are some errors on the listing regarding these two items, which I called to the attention of the owner which she said she would fix. The sliding doors to both of the bathrooms were kinda noisy. Rent this home is in an ideal location, it has everything you need to enjoy the pool and the beach and all of Captiva has to offer. It is for bicycles which is a big plus!
This property owner went above and beyond for my family. The home is cozy and truly felt like a home away from home. The location is close to everything on the Island and my older children could come and go without me worrying about them. We will be back!
Property owner was so wonderful to communicate with from the beginning to even after leaving
Property so close to everything 2-5 min walk to best beach to 5 restaurants and marinas and 1 min walk to pool
Property is 5 star felt like a Ritz Carlton
The decor had that beach feel to it
The screen porch was wonderful to hang out in the morning or in the evening- great breeze and even a TV on the porch
The master bedroom had a 5 star mattress
Had a wonderful stay at this property. Everything went really well and house was very comfortable. Kim was a terrific host and answered any questions I had. I would definitely recommend staying at this property
We would return. There is road noise that may bother some. Location is great for walking to restaurants and shops. The complex is well taken care of with nice pool, tennis courts and great boardwalk to beach. Unit kitchen is well stocked with what you would ever need but furniture etc is starting to show its age. Overall not disappointed.
