Why they chose this property
This property, known as The Big House, has been in the family for nearly 200 years. The original structure, “The Little House,” was cut in half and moved up the hill in 1989. The home was occupied by the family until both parents passed away. It became a rental in 2009. It is owned and operated by the surviving brothers who formed an LLC, Foundation Rentals, to be able to pay the taxes and keep the property in the family. The property manager (one of the brothers) lives within a mile of the house. The original house was much closer to the sidewalk than the current one. The original Little House, where the brothers and spent their summers with family in Grand Marais, is currently on Ridge Road, used as a camp by the family.
