About this property

Charming farmhouse on a quiet road near Seneca Lake, Glenora & Watkins Glen ❤️

Take a plunge into the past in our recently-renovated classic farmhouse situated on a quiet country road - only 1 mile from the shores of Seneca Lake and Glenora Point. We are located in an ideal, centralized location in the Finger Lakes region with close proximity to Seneca and Keuka Lakes and their top-notch wineries and breweries, the quaint villages of Watkins Glen, Hammondsport, and Penn Yan, and the popular wedding venues of Glenora Wine Cellars and Climbing Bines Brewery. You will be walking distance to our favorite winery, Hickory Hollow (0.8 miles), and three of the best restaurants in the entire Finger Lakes region: Tabora Farm and Winery (0.3 miles), The FLX Wienery (0.7 miles), and Veraisons (1.3 miles). All three restaurants offer spectacular food, desserts, local craft beverages, and a cozy atmosphere. You will be hard pressed to find another vacation rental where you can walk on a safe, quiet road to indulge in great food and wines - and not have to worry about a designated driver!

Enjoy quiet days and relaxing evenings sipping coffee or wine on our large porches or play games and grill dinner in our spacious back yard. The road on which the house is located is one of the more scenic roads in the area - it rolls and winds by Mennonite farms, produce stands, and osprey nests - and offers beautiful views of Seneca Lake and the valleys. A great location for biking, walking or a Sunday drive.

Nearby activities:
* Swim in Seneca Lake at Starkey Point, a quiet, family-friendly public swimming area. Just 2 miles away
* Buy fresh produce at one of the Mennonite roadside farmstands
* Go outdside: Explore the area’s many hiking trails including the magnificent gorge at Watkins Glen State Park, bike the scenic country roads & visit the many local waterfalls
* Get on the water: Set sail on Seneca Lake’s boat cruises or rent a kayak or motorboat
* Shop local crafts and produce at the Windmill Farm & Craft Market
* Walk or drive to nearby restaurants and wineries

Every aspect of the house is geared toward a relaxing vacation and allowing you to be in the present with your family and friends. Our property is purposefully lacking televisions (although we did recently add internet). You will have 1 acre of lawn space for grilling and outdoor games as well as the following:
* Large gas grill, 2 picnic tables & plenty of outdoor chairs
* A fire pit in a secluded back yard
* Board games, playing cards, books for all ages & a poker table
* Collection of classic vinyl records and record player as well as two large porches to enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine

The property accommodates 10 people and offers 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (1 full, 1 half). All of the rooms are spacious with attractive wood floors and wood trim including a very large living room with plenty of seating for your group. The house has an abundance of beautiful antique furniture and vintage household treasures.

The house is fully furnished and will provide your group with everything you need for your stay, including:
* Bed linens
* Bath & hand towels
* Kitchen supplies for preparing meals
* Washer & dryer (or an outdoor clothes line if you prefer)
* Drip coffee maker

There is parking in the driveway for 5-6 vehicles.

The property manager lives a few houses away and will be available to help if any issues arise.

No large parties on the property and no rowdy groups. Quiet hours from 10pm - 7am.

Guests of all backgrounds are welcome to enjoy our space. We look forward to hosting you.

I was born in the village of Dundee and consider myself an extremely proud native of the Finger Lakes area. I currently live in Illinois but frequently travel back to the region.

I really look forward to giving you tips and recommendations for your stay and sharing my fondness for the area.

My property manager, Rennee, and I manage another successful VRBO listing near Keuka Lake called The Kingfisher Chalet. We are "super hosts" with great reviews from travelers just like you!

Why they chose this property

My family is very fond of the small hamlet of Lakemont NY - home of the Hunt House. It's where my father grew up and grandparents lived. We spent many summer nights catching fireflies, playing in the ponds, and playing basketball in the farmer's barn. Lakemont is an idyllic community nestled on the banks of Seneca Lake with convenient access to so many Finger Lakes gems including the Seneca and Keuka wine trails, Watkins Glen International Speedway, Watkins Glen State Park, great hiking spots, and country roads for biking, running, walking or Sunday drives. There is an exciting new buzz in Lakemont after two great restaurants opened their doors in the past 3 years - FLX Wienery and Tabora Farm & Winery. We're so lucky to have these two establishments which offer amazing food and community gathering space for locals and visitors alike.

The Hunt House specifically caught my eye with its traditional crafstman style architecture, large yard, and spacious rooms with wood floors and wood trim. We bought the house in the summer of 2018 and paid special attention to preserving the character of the 1950s farmhouse. This house has great bones and we knew we just had to give it some love and TLC to bring it back to its glory. The former owners took great care of the house for 50+ years and relished in gardening, birding, farming their sheep and other livestock, and being part of a small, close-knit community.

What makes this property unique

The Hunt House has tons of character including classic wood floors, antique furniture and household treasures, large porches with Adirondack chairs and rockers, large yards for playing games, books and board games, and much more!

Lakemont is a perfectly centralized location in the Finger Lakes region.
