Happy to share our family's Vashon getaway with our guests.
Our place is a cozy 1,100 sf beach cottage on 50 feet of low bank waterfront/bulkhead. High tide puts water 4 feet from your windows and low tide allows for fun Puget Sound beach exploration. Our kids still love heading down to collect crabs and sand dollars.
We have two smaller bedrooms located upstairs. One with a Queen Bed the other a Full. Main living space downstairs has what I'd call a "Sleeping Closet" that partitions off with an accordion door for privacy.
Kitchen is a smaller but fully furnished with nice cookware and has a full size dishwasher.
Key things to know about our spot.
- Access to the house features a lot of stairs so not a good fit for those who are mobility impaired. - We only have TWO parking spots. It's important for guests to know this and not block driveways for our beach neighbors. - Magnolia Beach is a uniquely Vashon community with a mix of year round residents and a big influx of seasonal 2nd homeowners. It's a fun tight knit community and during the summer, it is a regular occurrence for neighbors to take a social stroll along the bulkheads and seawalls. We've had a few guests who were surprised by this quirk so we want our listing to better describe the experience so those to who are seeking privacy above everything else can look elsewhere. On similar vein, we have a set of stainless steel stairs that give easy access to the beach. Those stairs are shared and occasionally used by our immediate neighbors. By contrast the winter is considerably less active and the vibe very serene.

What a fantastic location and home! So clean and comfortable, the owners have thought of everything you need to feel right at home. Check in was easy, great WiFi access, comfortable sleeping arrangements. You absolutely can not beat the view! I will be returning for a longer stay.
Wildlife watching in the window was amazing. We only stayed 2 nights and must have spent 12 hours just staring out the windows. The only drawback is you need to be fairly fit for the walk up and down to your vehicle but ir was fine foe us.. Really great location!!
Such a wonderful location and such an amazing view. The owners were very responsive to my questions and very accommodating. The neighbors on both sides were also very inviting and helpful. It’s a healthy steep set of stairs to come down to the property but well worth the effort. Lots of fun water toys at your disposal. Sadly time did not allow us to use any as the water was so inviting. Great patio to sit at and have a meal, cup of morning coffee or a glass of wine to watch the end of the day in peace and quiet. Good BBQ, large patio dining table and chairs and brand new Adirondack chairs to hang out on. Each room, though on the smallish side, were adequate for its purpose, with full size beds. Nice size bathroom with lots of towels. Kitchen has everything and the open space and large windows make it feel as if you are cooking outside. If our travels bring us back to Vashon Island this is a place we will come to again.
Everything is as described or better, super well stocked, beautiful location. And the hospitality was next to none - we really felt right at home, and will miss Randy and the neighbors!
We deeply enjoyed our first trip to Vashon, and are already pondering when to return!
Two friends and I stayed at this lovely beach house for a long weekend away. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, the living room was comfortable with amazing views of the water and the bedrooms were very comfortable. We were able to easily manage the stairs bringing our bags in and out of the property. Communication with the owners was easy and informative, we didn't have any trouble at all. My friends and I would absolutely return to this house.
A fantastic property with amazing views. Very well stocked with everything we needed. The steps down didn’t put us off, although wouldn’t want to tackle them in winter conditions. Would highly recommend.
We brought our three children with us and the property was perfect for our needs. The house was very well stocked and everything was very clean. We kayaked each day and loved exploring the island. You could not get a better view of the water because it goes right up to the property.
The Magnolia Beachfront Home was a safe harbor during a really crazy time. The owners were able to accommodate our last-minute request to stay while repairs were made to our house. It was delightful to watch the duck swim by and the seals lounge on the swimming platform in the middle of the inlet. The house is a cozy little A-frame with all the amenities you need.
This property is literally RIGHT on the water and has great views. It’s very clean, comfortable, well maintained and the 2 chairs in the main living area are decadent to sit and watch the water and talk. There are a lot of stairs to navigate from the place you park your car to get down to the house so heavy or large baggage can be tricky. Fantastic spot and well worth it once you get unpacked!
The property is beautiful! My two adult daughers and I were celebrating one daughter's birthday. There are 3 bedrooms so we each enjoyed our own bedroom. The beachfront home is right on the water so you can enjoy the tides coming in & out and see the passing boats. We enjoyed our puzzles on the kitchen table and cooking breakfast. We went out for dinner (Lunetta Pizzeria) and also brunch on Sunday (Hardware Store Restaurant) in town There are a lot of stairs (as reported) but my daughters carried the bags. We all would love to return!
Okay, you’re on Vashon Island and you want to know more? Look at the title above. Now there’s much more but when you’re starting the day, sitting outside with a cup of fresh ground coffee (grinder provided by owner), having a seal come by to show you their fresh catch, you know your stay is going to go well. Have a day exploring and if you don’t want to try a local restaurant, season some steaks and vegetables and do some grilling. Did I mention that the gas grill and seasonings are part of this package? By seasonings, I’m not saying the usual salt and pepper but that cabinet was loaded. My favorite was a Parmesan, garlic, black truffle blend. We liked the relaxation of looking out into the water from the living room. The beds were comfortable and each room had an individual thermostat. Our child loved the downstairs bedroom, while we had plenty of room upstairs.Great communication with the owner, who takes pride in this home, we highly recommend it!
Over the holiday, our son and his girlfriend flew up from SF, and dear friends from Bellingham joined us on Vashon Is at this VRBO. We loved having the front-row view of the water--my husband and I are marine biologists--and the house worked out very well for the 6 of us. We did find the main access stairs a challenge (steep and sloped) for getting our gear to the house, but as soon I contacted the owners, they came up with a solution for us to use another, much safer stairs nearby. (Part of the issue was I misread their description of the stairs.) THe owners were responsive and lovely to work with. We will likely return!
This cozy little cabin right just steps from Quartermaster Harbor was just perfect for three ladies having a January "girls weekend" on Vashon Island. The neighborhood was quiet (in winter) and the view was spectacular! Comfortable furniture, good WiFi with a great laundry room. It has two small bedrooms with Queen beds upstairs - not very private as they share a "Jack and Jill" closet -but that was OK for single gals - it might be unomfortable for couples. There's third Queen bed in a curtained area off the living room. Only one bathroom, on the main floor. Appliances were older, but clean and functioning.Landlord was very accomodating and instructions were clear and easy to follow. We would stay again for sure. We would offer two notes: 1) There's a long, steep, switchback staircase from parking to cabin. Concrete steps were mossy and slightly slanted downward. Wooden steps were slippery. It was challenging for a couple of our group to navigate these in winter, but especially hauling luggage up and down. Our suggestion would be to pressure wash the concrete steps and add friction tape to the wooden steps to prevent slipping. This staircase should be clearly noted in posting as it would be unsuitable for some seniors or mobility challenged folks. 2) There is a nice, 60's style woodburning fireplace, however the wood stored out back was quite damp, despite being tarped, there was no kindling, and the hatchet was broken. We would stay there again for sure.
