About this property

Point Robinson Lighthouse - Keeper's Quarters B

Vashon Park District offers amazing stays in the two renovated Keepers' Quarters at Point Robinson Lighthouse. The two residences share the beach with the lighthouse and several outbuildings. Both are available for vacation rental throughout the year, offering you a wonderful way to enjoy the beach, Puget Sound, and Vashon-Maury Island.

Quarters B is a two-bedroom, one-bath, completely furnished unit with a full kitchen and sitting parlor. This house is restored to capture much of its historical 1919 condition. It can accommodate four to six people - with two bedrooms and one bath. The sunny kitchen in Quarters B evokes a time of homemade biscuits and slow Sunday breakfasts. The sitting room boasts period furnishings and contemporary comfort. This property is perched near the lighthouse on the shore of the East Passage in Puget Sound. It offers a wondrous porch looking out over the Salish Sea, and on a clear day, Mount Rainier (known as təqʷuʔməʔ or Mt. Tahoma to the Coast Salish people).

Quarters B is part of a duplex comprising half of the downstairs and the entire upper floor of the house. Our Caretaker lives in the other half of the duplex, and while the front porch facing the water is a shared space, the house has separate entrances for each residence.

Excellent VRBO. Beautiful location and great experience. I did not realize that there was only a bathtub wirhout a conventional shower, but that was the only surprise

Beauty and tranquility

We have stayed here multiple times and this time was just as magical as all the other times. We had the great fortune of seeing orcas, otters, seals, herons, and the Low Tide Festival, too! Make sure you get a reservation at May’s for the best Thai food around.

What a treat!

My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend enjoying our stay in “Quarters B.” The house is nicely furnished and equipped. Walked on the beach, visited the troll, enjoyed the restaurants and shops on Vashon. The parks department is great to work with.

Beautiful getaway

This was an incredibly relaxing and memorable place to stay! The home is beautifully maintained in the original character. Views of Mount Rainer from our bedroom and the front porch were breathtaking. We saw river otters feeding, eagles nesting in the tree on the property, and an orca swimming by right in front of us! Admittedly, we had warm weather and bright blue sky for our visit, but it was just heavenly.

Loved it!

Great combination of old but comfort. Looked and gave feeling of age and history but comfortable and clean and new in terms of appliances and bed. Breeze off the water was steady and wonderful. Caretaker is a very nice person and helpful.

Idyllic Stay by the shore in an historic home!

You could write your own novel, paint a picture, or barbeque a salmon while staying at the Lighthouse Keeper's House. It was an amazing family stay. The only problem - the stay wasn't long enough!! We know Vashon Island, so we knew all the GREAT places to visit while we were there - and Vashon has MANY!! But the BEST part was the porch!!

Nice way to unplug and relax.

The property was beautiful. It was peaceful. We got to wake up to beautiful views and the sound of the water. We wish there was a stand-up shower as the sit down shower was awkward and not very satisfying.

Relaxing and Rejuvenating

We had a wonderful relaxing get-away from the hustle and bustle. Our favorite part? Sitting on the front porch and enjoying the view of the beach, driftwood, water and Mount Rainier. We saw orcas, harbor seals and porpoises, herons and osprey.

Enjoyable lighthouse retreat

We spent two nights at the lighthouse and enjoyed every minute. We spent time walking on the beach at low tide, photographing birds, painting, and reading on the front porch. The weather was perfect and the mountain was out. The only thing that could have made it better was to have seen orcas. We’ll try again.

Perfection at Point Robinson

Where do I start? Impeccably clean, super comfy beds and linens, excellent kitchen set-up, stunning location, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff who truly went above and beyond for our rather unique circumstances. Eric and Mo both have our deepest gratitude. I hope to be able to visit again...

Fantastical

Super easy check in. Well stocked kitchen and all of the amenities in historically renovated quarters. Stones throw to beach and passing Orcas, container ships. IBA, important bird area, likewise did not disappoint. Only disappointment is we did not book longer. And that lighthouse keeping is a somewhat non available profession these days.

Late December Beach Retreat

We arrived on December 27 to find the perfect little cottage complete with a charming Christmas tree. Everything we needed was here - plus tons of wildlife and the glorious beach. Oscar the Troll is magnificent but I did not realize he was going to be such a crowd draw - the upper parking lot is always crowded and muddy! But inside the quarters feels private. The gate, which is locked after dark, is HEAVY and quite difficult to open and close by oneself, but it does ensure privacy at nighttime. Absolutely glorious little stay for me and teenage daughter, and we will return.

Historical charm, natural beauty

Quarters B is a delightful step into the past, with charming period furnishings and beautiful windows onto the sea. My son loved staying in a room where he could see both the lighthouse light and, across, the water, planes queuing up to land at SeaTac. My husband and I enjoyed our view of the water and Mt Rainier from our bedroom. Downstairs there were comfy places to sit, lots of books and games, and cozy, charming kitchen. I enjoyed sitting on the front porch & reading, and we spent hours walking up and down the beach and venturing into the water -- all just steps away from our front door. We also made use of the grill and yard for outdoor dining & play. What a wonderful, peaceful, charming, unique place to stay.

Anniversary Getaway

Loved most things about this place! Very clean with great kitchen and nicely decorated with "period" furniture. I have 2 minor criticisms that I feel almost guilty mentioning, but since this is an honest review I want to mention them. The furniture in the living room looks like it should be there but is not very comfortable. We had stormy weather during our stay so we used this furniture for most of a day and it left a lot to be desired. Also, the tub/shower looked great but the hose for the shower portion of the plumbing was not long enough to allow you to hold it above your head (and no place to hook it as a shower head). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

Family Time at the Beach

The Lighthouse Keepers Quarters B is a cozy home located right on the beach, facing east across the water towards Mt. Rainier. It was the perfect place for grandparents, parents, and grandchildren to spend a family weekend. There's nothing like walking out your front door right onto the beach - no need to pack up and drive anywhere. We played at the edge of the water, skipped stones, played in the marvelous driftwood structures created by others, walked the short trails into the woods, and discovered the big troll sculpture recently added to the park in which the house in located. It is wonderfully quiet at night,! It's fun to watch the boats and large cargo ships make their way through the channel. We watched sunrise and sunset over the water. The house is very well equipped with lots of little extras that make it feel like home.

A perfect getaway

A beautiful historic property with sweeping views. The home is cozy and comfortable, perfect for a couple or small family. We enjoyed walking the beach and trails and taking in the spectacular view from the porch. We saw eagles, osprey, heron, and many other birds and wildlife. Truly a fantastic getaway.

Spectacular peace and quiet

This is such a unique location: there was an abundance of nature - herons, seals, birds, lilacs, tulips (it is Spring in the PNW) and unepected views of Mt. Rainier amid the tug boats, ships, and planes that passed by within sight. Quarterhouse B was ideal for settling in and relaxing. It seems intentionally simple, extremely functional, and is delightful. Everything worked, the place was spotless, the kitchen very usable. We felt well welcomed by the caretaker and knew we could call on him with any questions. We would gladly return!

Why they chose this property

Point Robinson Park is a 10-acre shoreline park, and, a historical and marine conservancy. It is located on the east shore of Vashon-Maury Island, off Point Robinson Road overlooking the East Passage. The site has provided fog and lighthouse service for vessels since 1885. The lighthouse has been fully automated since 1978. Vashon Park District owns the upland part of the park, and the remainder is on a long-term lease from the U.S. Coast Guard. The property conserves an extensive sandy beach shoreline that wraps around the point, a saltwater marsh, and upland woodlands. Walking trails and a few picnic tables have been developed along the scenic shoreline providing dramatic views of East Passage, Tacoma, Mount Rainier, and the upper wooded slopes. Pt. Robinson Stewards have fully restored the two Keepers' Quarters on the property for use as rentals. All proceeds from the rentals go back into the park's restoration and maintenance.

What makes this property unique

Point Robinson - what a special gift this property is to the people of Vashon. There are not a lot of places in the world where you can witness whales breaching an arm's length away and giant ships steaming by in the night, or watch Great Blue Herons fish in front of a lighthouse. And now, there is a Thomas Dambo troll art installation (Oscar the Bird King) located at Pt. Robinson Park as well, make sure you stop in to visit him while you're staying with us. So, on behalf of our Island and the Vashon Park District, welcome to Point Robinson Lighthouse. You're going to love it!
