This is a lovely property with a helpful and responsive host and perfect for relaxing in. Be prepared for beautiful gecko friends and other wildlife to visit. I'll miss the nightly chorus of frog song. Car required. Highly recommended.
Beautiful peaceful setting off grid. Merlyn is a fantastic host and so sweet. Her fruit trees are out of this world and we had complete access to partake. It only takes about 25-30 minutes to get to Volcanoes National Park.
Amazing cottage with aloha. Beautiful orchard. I made a mistake on the booking and came a day early. Host easily accommodated us and we were treated with true aloha. Would stay again.
Thank You for a wonderful stay. Your cottage and grounds are so very inviting and relaxing. Everything is right there and easy to access, including grapefruits to fresh squeeze with breakfast. The putdoor shower was also quire nice.
Everything was wonderful! We especially loved sitting in the gazebo listening to the rain...the birds...the geckos...and all of the other wildlife sounds. We also enjoyed eating and juicing the citrus fruits! It was absolute paradise!
Richard was welcoming, He was traveling at the time himself but took time out of his travels to communicate with us. Nice off grid place very private great for a couple that want privacy. We plan to return!
It is a wonderful, private oasis 25 minites from the Hilo airport. The check-in process was easy and communication with the owners was spot on. I did not take advantage of the kitchen, but it looked like it had everything that would be needed. I will definitely try to stay here on my next visit.
This was the best place I have ever stayed. The pristine beauty paired with the accommodations in an ideal locale made for an absolutely perfect and memorable stay in every way
Absolutely the best experience for a truly relaxing stay. The grounds were amazing. Filled with flowers and fruit trees and the cottage itself was a delight to come home to after a day of exploring the Keaau and the city of Hilo. Well appointed with everything needed for a three night stay. Loved taking a shower outdoors! Would definitely recommend.
We are returning customers. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this cute little place! We very much loved the garden with fruit trees and ornamental plants! Can see the hard work they have put in. The house was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed. A truly wonderful host who made us feel so welcome. Check-in was a breeze. We would love to stay here again. Highly highly recommend!
This is our second visit to this property and we intend to return again. This is on just over an acre and has a large variety of fruit trees (non happened to be ripe on our visit). The owner was quick to answer before arrival and during our stay. While using the bbq I ran out of gas and I contacted the owner and they brought me cylinders within 15 minutes. The cottage was very clean upon arrival and stocked with all we needed. I cooked a couple times and the kitchen works for me. At night, we slept with windows open and listened to Coqui frogs, they can be loud at times. The outdoor shower is clean and quite an experience when the rain is hitting the roof. We love to sit out in the gazebo in the evenings while it’s raining.I will warn those of us from the mainland of the mosquitoes. The first day we went into town and bought some spray and citronella candles as at dawn and dusk, they can be problems. The owners also have a second unit on the back of the property which is super cute and well done. There were no guests there during our stay, but there could be during yours. The two units are not close, but both have complete access to the full acre. We really enjoy this property and the host is wonderful.
We only stayed there a brief time, but its a cute place with lots of lovely fruit trees. The outdoor kitchen was nice and stocked. Lots of cute little lizzards outside. Even though the place doesn't have air conditioning it was comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the outside shower was amazing.
Owner and her friend Ellie were very helpful to me as I spent a week on the Big Island with my son for his wedding. The property was amazing with all the fruit trees and peaceful space.

Clean and comfortable with a great host. We enjoyed the tranquility of the property including the extensive gardens and fruit trees.
Wow! We absolutely loved our stay here. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The cottage is very well stocked with all you need to cook if you wish including extras of day to day supplies. It is very peaceful and comfy with multiple areas to kick back and relax. The orchard is so fun to explore and all the sounds of nature were fun to listen to day and night. The geckos are super cute. Dick is a great owner who is communicative and friendly! Will definitely be returning!!!
This was our first trip to The Big Island and we stayed the first part of the week in Hilo. This cottage was absolutely amazing and was better than expected! The sounds at night were soothing, we had lizard visitors, the rain was just lovely! We couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere!

Why they chose this property
Aloha... We purchased this property back 2014 and started clearing the land and planting Palm trees and Exotic Tropical Fruits that we love to eat and to explore new fruits, and practice sustainability. Now that the trees are bearing we can share our slice of paradise that we are proud of.
