We had the most incredible stay at Sweecret. Leo and Davern really took care of us like family and make sure we had everything we needed. We had initially rented a 2wd SUV accidentally and it couldn't make the hill, but Leo rescued us and helped us store the car safely until we could exchange it. The resort is in such a lovely location off the beaten path, so peaceful, and it was really interesting to hear stories of how Leo grew up on the island. We loved boat bar-hopping and seeing the mangroves, and cannot wait to come back and see more the area has to offer!

Thank you both for your review and the appreciation for Leo's wholehearted help when necessary. 😁
We do hope you will return to the island in the very near future and even if you don't stay with us at Sweecret, we would definitely like to join you for drinks elsewhere.
All the very best to you both and your families. 🌺
We wanted a place to relax. This was the best. Quiet area with beautiful surroundings. All necessities provided, dishes, cutlery, toaster, blender, coffee maker, etc. Fridge, microwave, stove, lighter, coffee and sugar, towels, soap, shampoo. Beautiful bay (bight) for kayaking. Nice grounds for leisurely walks. Just bring your own food. Highly recommended.

We are so appreciative of Rebecca's review.❤️
We totally enjoyed hosting her and hubby and would love to see them back in the very near future.
... And yes Rebecca, et al, please always bring food unless you've rented a car or boat. Then you're at liberty to visit the many restaurants in Diamond Rock and Oak Ridge or beyond.
Horrible, couldn't even find the place. Ended up staying in other accommodations. Host just said sorry that there aren't any signs. Didn't even offer to help direct us or come find us.

We appreciate each of our guests and try to be as helpful as possible in every way.
Although we do not provide the service of picking up or dropping off our guests to airport/ferry dock we oftentimes provide this service as a courtesy.
All our contact details are listed on our pages and we respond to all queries in a timely manner.
The guest messaged on a separate ticket than the one he made his reservation asking for directions not stating exactly where he was, most importantly if he was already on the island.
We gave him the address so with a quick Google search he would have been guided directly to us as did the guest who arrived the day before and another who arrived two days later.
We know not everyone is tech savvy but an additional email could have solved the matter if he wasn't able to call or use Google map.
We very much appreciate our guests and it bothers us when they feel we didn't provide them with the help they expected but with the same token we expect them to fully communicate with us.
We hope the guest had a great time in Roatan and will return in the near future and while he may not reserve with SR again we do hope his relationship with VRBO isn't severed especially since he was critical of their service.
I booked the green tiny home. Told on arrival that i was not staying there. It was rented to someone else. The blue upper floor was where I was placed. Many mice in the unit. Left when I woke to one crawling on me. Owner was aware of mouse problem

We appreciate the review however it's not true in it's entirety.
Julie requested the little Teal Hydrangea home however we thought the upstairs unit, which we, the owners and a few other guests had occupied previously and had only recently vacated.
We were expecting a guest who had two boats therefore we thought the unit closest to the dock would work best for him and it did, as he had repairs to do on both boats.
Julie was fine with this arrangement but had she not been the boater was not yet in Teal so she could have actually moved in there.
The first week Julie arrived she mentioned that a little mouse had entered her unit.
We noted that a screen was not inserted properly into the window and thru there the little mouse most likely entered.
Our homes are in a rural area and while we keep our gardens clean and tidy garbage retained inside the homes can possibly attract unwanted pests.
This is the first time we have received such a negative review at Sweecret Retreat in Calabash and certainly never about pests being a problem.
Had Julie complained directly to us about any issues she was having upstairs we would have relocated her to another one of the houses.
The unit she was placed in, is also more updated and nightly rate higher than she paid for Teal.
She spoke to Leo daily in person or via WhatsApp and could've complained directly to him or via VRBO
She left SR two days earlier than planned as she stated that her flight schedule had been changed and she wanted to be nearer to airport not to miss her flight since SR is a distance away from same.
We thank Julie for her visit, we wish her well and also give thanks for her being at the complex to accommodate some guests we weren't here ATM to receive. They were friends of ours and with a call would have gotten to their respective units anyway.
Honesty about the flight schedule would have been appreciated and considering we are in the hospitality business would have definitely taken care of any problems she was having as Leo tried to do in so many ways, most importantly with her car rental.
if you are looking for a rustic stay and get to meet genuine country people this is the place. Leo and Daverne were excellent hosts. They went out of their way to make our visit as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. They took us out on the boat for a site seeing and snorkelling adventure, a tour of the mangroves and an evening bar hopping and dining (3 separate trips). If you are looking at luxury living this isn’t it. If you are looking for a genuine country stay it is ideal. You will need a 4x4 to access especially in rainy season. However Leo has plans to cement the access road so soon you should be able to access with a SUV. . we loved our stay and exploring the east end of the island.
If you look for a quiet place to chill, Sweecret Retrait is the perfect place. You can only acces by boat, so no road around. It is almost on the water, with a beautiful view. The house is tiny, but perfect for one or two persons and the air conditioning is good. The pool is nice and refreshing. There's kayak to explore the bight and reach the reef to do snorkeling. Leo and Davern are SOOOO nice! They really make you feel like family. Leo was born there, so he knows everything and everybody ! He made us taste fruits from his nice garden and brang us to fish tuna. He brang us whereever we wanted go. We definitly recommand you this little paradise!

It was so very nice having you both as our guests.
We especially enjoyed listening to the sound of a foreign language being spoken on the property, makes the Bight feel so much more connected to the rest of the world.
Your friendship will be treasured always.
The fact that you were always up for a challenge made us appreciate you more, ie tasting fruits from our backyard, riding in a skiff all the way to Port Royal in fairly rough seas etc.
The kayaks are missing you both and all the sceneries you introduced them to😅
Let us know how the cashew roasting turns out🤗
All the very best 🌺
My time in Roatan was such a peaceful and enjoyable vacation. Leo and Davern does such an amazing job ensuring the guest are well accommodated and feel welcomed during their stay!

It was a pleasure hosting Brianna. Like many other guests she instantaneously became a part of our family and we hope to see her back in Roatan in the very near future.
We thank Fanny very much for recommending her to Sweecret Retreat.
Leo and Davern made me feel like family. They helped me check out the houses I was interested in so I could buy the house that is best for my needs. They showed me all over the island so I could pick the best area for me. Icant wait to move there so I can see them again.
