THE PROPERTY: The Bohemian House is a restored treasure full of delightful surprises. Its front porch is perfect for people watching or casting your cares away on the swing. As you enter the home you will be enveloped in the beauty of its coveted Dade County Pine. The living room with comfortable seating has an electric fireplace to cozy up to and a large screen TV. Ascending the open staircase, you will find the primary king bedroom loft with cove lighting, exposed beams, ensuite bath and storage. Spacious and bright, the loft has a chaise lounge, perfect for reading or an afternoon nap. The ensuite bath includes a walk-in shower, single vanity, and an amusing porthole window. A convenient second floor laundry is located at the top of the stairs.

Back down the stairs you will enjoy a clear view to the back of the home and pool area. The second bedroom is nearby and has its own queen-sized bed. Furnished in eclectic décor, this room includes built-in storage and a desk area, ideal for working remotely or the kids’ lessons. Its Ernest Hemingway style ensuite bath, is complete with nautical décor, vessel sink, and walk-in shower.

Moving to the rear of the house you will find the chef’s kitchen, complete with everything you need for meal prep or snacks. Custom cabinets, stainless steel appliances, including a gas range and a breakfast area round out the space. Keep an eye on the outdoor fun from the window over the kitchen sink. The kitchen’s glass door provides direct access to the pool and outdoor dining area, making meals al fresco convenient.

If you are looking for outdoor enjoyment, this home has a salt water dip pool, private yard, imaginative art, and a much-loved hammock. Come see for yourself why this whimsical vacation home with a Bohemian vibe is right for you!

BED CONFIGURATION: The first-floor queen bedroom has an ensuite bath. The second-floor primary loft king bedroom also has an ensuite bath.

OUTDOOR AMENITIES: There is a private salt water dipping pool for your pleasure. The pool is heated seasonally (November through April) for an additional fee which will be assessed at the time of booking. Cook your catch of the day on the grill and enjoy it under the stars in the outdoor dining area. Adirondack chairs, bicycle parking and a hammock are also yours to enjoy.

PARKING: There is covered parking for one golf cart or a very compact car.

LOCATION: Situated on a tiny one-way lane in Historic Old Town Key West, this home is conveniently located within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and galleries, as well as the Historic Seaport District. The excitement of Duval Street is only a short bike ride away.

PETS: One (1) dog allowed, up to 25 labs, for an additional fee and complete of Pet Information addendum. Must be 1 year of age or older. Must be spayed/neutered. All vaccinations must be up to date. Please be advised some breeds are not permitted. Sorry, cats are not allowed.

A month in paradise!

Bohemian House on Elgin

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: BOHEMIAN HOUSE The rental management was very helpful and informative without being intrusive. The location was excellent and provided parking for our vehicle which was a big plus. The pool was private, maintained and enjoyable to use. The house was clean and kitchen adequately supplied with items necessary for meal prep. Loved that the back patio was covered and had fans to stir the air. However I do offer suggestions to the owner. Since the back outside space is small, I suggest it is cluttered with too many non-functional tables and knick knack items. It looks and feels “junky.” There’s no need to replace items, just get rid of unnecessary clutter. It was dirty and moldy upon our arrival. We had to clean, wash off the area as best we could before using it. Landscape could be pretty but needs attention and a good cleanup. There are way too many hanging flower pots (again, looks cluttered, not pretty, and contributes to moldy issues) and other items, pots sitting around the grounds. “Less is more” is my feeling when the space is a small one. The unlevel patio to pool area is trip hazard enough without having to negotiate around flower pots, stacks of pavers, and the like. In general the house was good, but back outside area (which is where we wanted to be) was lacking in functionality and esthetic appeal. We rented this house in October 2021 and 2022. However the conditions of the back patio area coupled with the higher rental cost make this house not a viable option for us in 2023.

Good location

I didn’t really want to give a public negative review because the property manager was very helpful getting us a partial refund when we decided not to stay the second half of our reservation. The location is great, the house is well equipped. However, it never cooled properly and the dishwasher was old and not useful but prop manager tried their best to remedy that. The house has many, many accessories/Knick knacks/small furniture pieces which was charming but in our case we needed to consolidate and stash some of those things out of the way to keep from accidental breaking them or tripping. The house did have a mouse infestation and we killed 6. For safety and hygiene reasons that really needs to be addressed.
