Hot Tub NOT Working on Arrival-Poor Communication-DO NOT RECOMMEND
We rented through VRBO and Resort Realty from Thur-Mon Feb 15-19. On arrival at 5 pm (check-in is 6), we reported the hot tub was not working. Since the check-in is after the maintenance office closes, no one was able to come out until Fri.
Maintenance said the pump was seized and it would cost more that the amount he was allowed to spend without the owner’s consent.
On late Sat I called and was told the owner decided to replace the hot tub instead of fixing it. Half way through our rental.
I asked for about 25% compensation, hoping to get 10-20%.
They said that the contract states there are no refunds for, “loss of use” of appliances. It also states, “as every good faith effort is made to ensure that the Property is maintained.”
How can you lose something you never had?
How much effort is required to see that the hot tub isn’t working.
On Mon morning, the realtor called and said the owner offered about 4% back.
I said that was a really poor offer. They really didn’t want to hear what I had to say. She said she was sorry and then goodbye and hung up.
Why wasn’t the hot tub checked out before arrival?
Why weren’t we told before check in the hot tub didn’t work?
Why wasn’t there any effort made to fix the hot tub while we were there?
Does anybody else think NOT having a hot tub in Feb is worth more than 4%?
Also, the wi-fi is very slow, all of the TVs are streaming, not cable. Theater room only has large TV, no working surround sound or DVD. Be prepared for “buffering”
