Cousin Getaway to The Painted Churches
We had a wonderful stay during our cousin weekend to visit The Painted Churches. The property was just perfect for our needs. It's an easy drive to Schulenburg and surrounding areas. The house had several different cozy seating areas. The kitchen is very convenientand accommodated all four of us preparing food at one time. The bedrooms are very comfortable and both have a nice balcony area. The back bedroom looks out over ranch land. On our first morning, we were greeted my a big white Brahma bull, a cow and her sweet calf, an entire donkey family, and a beautiful longhorn steer. The baby donkey was pretty young and just the cutest. There is a very friendly cat that visits the back porch. The whole property has the feel of a farm/ranch. The property itself is rural and away from close neighbors. Perfect for us. On our second day, we visited a very small family winery in the area. Moravia Vineyard and Winery provided a lovely wine tasting, complete with complimentary bread, sausage and cheeses. Overall, this is a great place to stay in this beautiful part of Texas. Ann has appointed the house so well, you will find many extras to enhance the stay for both adults and children. We would all highly recommend this property.
Just like home!
Growing up on a farm out in the country, this was such a treat! We appreciated so much the attention to details - from the selection of coffees and snacks to the perfect homey decoration. It is a way out from the nearest town and my cell service was a bit spotty, so you might want to make sure you have the directions saved somewhere. But it wasn’t difficult to find at all. We had a wonderful stay and a great family visit!
This place was excellent. The house was clean, open and light, and we felt very much at home. It was enjoyable to sit on the back patio in the morning and watch the cattle in the next pasture. This place is central between San Antonio, Austin and Houston. We discovered that it is close to Roundtop Carmine and the antiques when in season. I highly recommend it. I could not give it more stars because there were only five.
We enjoyed staying here! A very nice place, clean, and relaxing.
Ann, our hostess, was very attentive in anticipating our needs, and provided wonderfully! Great experience for quiet and reflection, and nature lovers.
A frame country home
The A frame home was lovely, very, neat and tidy with comfortable beds. It is nestled in the country- very quite and peaceful. That being said it is a little far out so you have to add in a little extra time for your travels. Also the stairs to the second floor are a little steep so they might be hard if you have any mobility problems.
