This property is very nice. Secluded in the woods. Very easy check in. Inside was so cozy. They provided coffee and snacks. Shower had hot water. Beautiful fresh water pond right outside the door. Very clean and comfortable. They even notified us that we could check in early. I would definitely stay here again.
This is a wonderful place to stay. Quiet with a little pond. The caboose was cute and comfortable. Sleeping in a caboose can now be checked off my bucket list.
Our family loved our stay at the caboose. From the sweet little welcome basket to the toys for the littlest kiddo; we had a wonderful time. The beds were super comfortable and warm, the pond was so pretty and peaceful and there was plenty of room for our family of 4 to not be on top of each other. Our three year old thought it was “so cool” and the 10 year old is already planning a return trip. It was close to town, but very quiet at the same time. Checking in/out was a very simple process as well. We would definitely stay again!
The little guys were a bit confused to start off with but they quickly fell in love with the place. Outdoor areas were wonderful, they enjoyed playing in the garden. There is everything you need in the Caboose and its only a drive ride to plenty of places to see.
Wonderful spot. The property itself is really pretty and the caboose was very charming. King size bed was comfortable, loft bed was loved by our 10year old and our 7 year old said the provided air mattress was his best sleep ever.
Location to Olympic National Park and the rest of the peninsula is good, you’ll definitely need a car. Its a very unique experience and our family loved it.
Just as it looks in the pictures. Our kiddo loved running around the wildflower meadow and climbing up and down the ladder to the loft bed, though she did need some help on the top rung. Definitely got warm in the late afternoon, and it was a bit buggy outside, so bring some bug spray if you want to hang out by the pond. Perfect for our trip.
My 2 boys and I had a delightful time staying in the little red caboose! It was charming, and the hosts truly went above and beyond to be sure we felt at home. There were even snacks to greet us on the table.
The check in process was very smooth. Although it was cozy, it was the perfect amount of space for me and my 16 and 9 year old boys. The 9 year old loved climbing the ladder into his bed every night. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The kitchen had a mini fridge and microwave which met our needs. The single, stand-up shower heated quickly and had ample water pressure.
The property has 2 separate lodging options with the "Depot station" very close, so if you are looking for privacy consider renting both.
In summary, the caboose in the woods offers a perfect balance of whimsical fun with all of the comforts of a hotel room with easy access with all that the Olympic Peninsula has to offer. (About 5 minutes from Sequim, 20 minutes to Port Angeles, and an hour to Hurricane Ridge and Lake Crescent.)
Be sure to visit the alpacas and Lavender farm right across the street!
This little caboose was everything we were hoping for. The location is very central to town but the property itself is very serine and tucked away. The hosts were super helpful and responsive too. Plus the space is just so freaking cute!
We needed a place to crash and re-group during a long weekend visiting family that only lived 5 minutes away. It was perfect for us, as we had no need to cook meals and didn’t need too much space. Our kids loved sleeping in a train and the host was very communicative about check in and making sure we had everything we needed. We will absolutely stay again.
Property was great, Host really ruined the experience
The property was great and exactly what was posted. You're staying in a train in the middle of the woods, so don't expect a 5 star hotel. But if an adorable train in the woods is what you're looking for, this is exactly that. A few things I will note about the property itself is 1) the loft bed is missing a top stair and has a very low railing, so isn't safe for kids younger than a teenager, 2) the sewer/plumbing system creates a sort of strange smell in the caboose, 3) the toilet's plumbing isn't super strong, and 4) the heat is a bit hard to control precisely. None of those were a deal-breaker; the host was really what ruined the stay.
We were charged an extra $100 for additional cleaning, despite having followed all checkout instructions. We were told that there were a host of issues, most of which I knew just simply were not true, and others which were just bogus things to say. For example, there was a small red stool/chair set that we were charged for "repair" because they were left separated rather than leaving the stool tucked inside the chair. We were told the caboose took an extra 4 hours to clean beyond the typical time, which if you see the size of the space you'll know has to be an exaggeration unless we had done something totally extreme, which we certainly did not. Anyway, it was a bummer of a way to end a nice trip, and the host refused to send any pictures of proof of what they claimed, so we're just having to suck it up and pay the bogus $100 extra charge.
Such fun staying in a caboose. Attention to detail was phenomenal down to the cabinet handles (railroad nails) and pull string toilet. Very Clean. Host very kind. Beautiful little pond just outside. Highly recommend!
The caboose is a very clean and surprisingly roomy accommodation! The king size bed is great to sleep on! The shower is much roomier that we anticipated and we never ran out of hot water! This is a great place to stay if your looking to visit Olympic National park!
