About this property

Treetop Hideaway with mountain views. 1000 sq. ft. 10 min to downtown Asheville!

Welcome to our private treetop hideaway. We're tucked away in the trees on a high ridge, with stunning year round views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's a very special retreat, set on five wooded acres. Our 1000 square foot accommodation features 3 spacious and well furnished rooms, including a large living area with a full kitchen and a romantic gas fireplace. Our home is in a very quiet neighborhood and has no close neighbors. It’s the perfect place for a romantic getaway or a truly relaxing vacation. We are located midway between Asheville and Weaverville and are just 10 minutes from both. Hosts: Jack and Robin

MORE INFORMATION
The space:
Our spacious 1000 square foot guest apartment is located on the ground floor of our home, below the large main house and down an outside flight of 15 steps from the parking area and deck. It has its own completely separate entrance. Robin and Jack live on the two upper floors with their friendly standard poodle “Zelda” and playful Labradoodle “Hank”. The apartment offers our guests very private, spacious and well furnished living quarters. There’s a large covered patio that’s outfitted with both dining and coffee tables, several comfortable seating options and a 3 burner gas grill for our guests exclusive use. The apartment itself reproduces the feeling of a luxury hotel suite. It includes a generously sized living room, with a full kitchen and dinning area along one wall and a romantic and efficient gas fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need for gourmet cooking and a great dinning experience. There’s an extra large bedroom with a very comfortable king sized bed that’s fitted with luxury linens and high quality pillows. There’s lots of closet and bureau space and plenty of hangers. The large full bath has a two sink vanity, an in tub shower and features thick cotton towels, high end soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair dryer and other amenities. The apartment has high ceilings throughout and extra tall windows let in the light and provide great mountain views. All of the kitchen appliances are full sized and new. We provide both Keurig and drip coffee makers, K-cups, tea, sweeteners, chilled still and sparkling bottled water, a bottle of white wine, local craft beer, cookies and initial breakfast pastries. In addition to the guest apartment’s own patio, there is a separate area of our upper deck exclusively for our guests use. It has two very comfortable chairs, a low table and, in the summer, a large adjustable sun umbrella. It's another perfect place to savor your morning coffee while enjoying our amazing mountain views or to just sit and read. Additional amenities include a commercial grade Wi-Fi connection and premium cable TV with HBO and Showtime, and the Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming services. All display on a 50” flat screen smart TV. The TV is on a mount that pulls away from the wall and swivels 90 degrees in both directions.
We are surrounded by woods on all sides and are frequently visited by deer, wild turkeys, and other wild life. Many birds fill our surrounding trees. Tall mature trees tower over our home, giving the visual perspective of being in a remote tree house with superb mountain views.

Guest access:
We provide a lockbox with keys for our guests but are almost always on site to great and brief them personally. PLEASE NOTE: our home is about 100 feet above street level and our driveway is very steep and narrow, with two sharp turns. The average grade of our driveway is 24 to 26 degrees but two short sections are 30+ degrees. At the top of our driveway, there is a very large parking and turn around area with a great view. Limit, two cars per reservation. Our spacious guest apartment is down an outside flight of stairs (15 steps), from the upper deck and parking level. Because we have two wonderful dogs of our own, we cannot accept reservations with pets. Our guests should feel free to walk anywhere on our steep property or to explore the adjacent wooded areas.

Interaction with guests:
We are very respectful of your privacy but are available to answer your questions, offer advice or to help in any way. Jack and Robin are semiretired and we are hikers, bicyclists, skiers and both racing and cruising sailors. Before moving to Asheville we lived in Aspen, Colorado; Stowe, Vermont; San Francisco; New York City; Camden, Maine; Cambridge, Massachusetts; the South of France and Wilmington, North Carolina.

Other things to note:
The street below our home has children, joggers, dog walkers and lots of wildlife transiting it. Please drive slowly, thanks. Our dogs Zelda and Hank are very friendly and quiet. They both enjoy attention from our guests, but won’t pester you.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Our home is in a quiet residential neighborhood, midway between Asheville and Weaverville. It’s heavily wooded five acres are very private and are tucked under a ridge line with no close neighbors. The immediate area is great for walking, jogging and road biking. Nearby are hiking and mountain biking trails, golfing, kayaking and rafting, and outstanding fly fishing.

GETTING AROUND
We are near the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Pisgah, Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests, DuPont State Forest, some of the most scenic walking, hiking and mountain biking trails in the country, great road biking and outstanding fly fishing. Both Asheville and Weaverville are just 10 minutes away and the Biltmore Estate is a short 20 minute drive. We are less than an hour's drive from the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Some of the best restaurants in the Asheville area are just 5 to 10 minutes from our home. The nearest supermarket (a small Ingles) is a 4 minute drive and large Harris-Teeter and Publix Supermarkets, 2 larger Ingles Supermarkets, Aldi’s, Fresh Market, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are all just an 8 to 10 minute drive away.

Hidden Gem!
The property was perfectly described and the hosts were extremely hospitable. We were greeted and shown all amenities. There are a number of streaming apps, a cozy fireplace, extremely comfortable bed and linens! The hosts thought of every convenience - wine, beer, sparkling and bottled waters, coffee pods/Keurig, travel toothbrushes, razors, shampoo/conditioner, soaps. No need to bring paper products - paper towels, toilet tissue, Kleenex, even charging cords, umbrellas and recycling offered. We enjoyed our stay and restaurant recommendations. We will definitely book again. Jack and Robin were the best hosts we have encountered!

Long weekend Biltmore Estate visit
This had to be one of our favorite short getaways. We had two full days at The Biltmore Estate and grounds, as well as a visit to Omni Grove Park Inn. Our stay at Jack and Robin’s home was a pure delight. It was so nice to come back to this very cozy and well accommodated lower level home at the end of our days. We actually looked forward to it! The description of this beautiful home is spot on…..meticulously clean, very comfortable, well appointed, every detail thought of. Jack and Robin thought of everything. We would highly recommend this find to anyone and we are already telling our friends it’s a must do trip, and to stay here! Hoping to return here one day. Thank you Jack for also spending the time with us to share your stories, very interesting.

Fantastic mountain weekend
My mom and I had such a nice stay. The space was perfect for us and we loved using the fireplace at night. I wish we could’ve stayed longer so that we could’ve taken more advantage of the patio and the view of the mountains. The proximity to Asheville was perfect and we found some great restaurants super close by. Jack greeted us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the space and was super responsive to texts. I also appreciated all of his restaurant and hiking recommendations. Thank you for a great stay!!
