A peaceful holiday home with stunning views
We(2 adults and 4 boys aged 8-16) had a wonderful stay in this comfortably furnished holiday home. The balcony is great-loads of space and seating, choice of sun or shade for most of the day, and a wonderful view.
The house is almost at the end of a very quiet road in an elevated position above the village and feels very private, apart from the occasional walker passing by on the path that leads down to the village. The village and the river with many wonderful pools for swimming in can be reached by this path-about a 5 mins walk down some steep steps and 10 mins back up as it is very steep! But well worth it! We enjoyed trips to a lake and the beach (both about 1hr drive away), and lots of visits to the gorge to cool off in the pools. It is also possible to walk the whole of the gorge path directly from the house.
It is possible to park your car outside the house to unload, but then it needs to be left about 90 yds back down the road. There are several steep and uneven steps down to the cottage, so may be a bit tricky for the less-mobile. There is also an open stone staircase in the house, so perhaps not ideal for very young children.
2 of the bedrooms are connecting, with the second toilet in the inside of these bedrooms. There are a lot of beds in the house in addition to the ones in the property description-2 doubles in one bedroom, another double bedroom, a twin bedroom, 2 single beds in the living room and a bed under the stairs, so a choice of where to sleep if you bring extra bedding with you!
Although the property description says that towels and linens are provided, we were told a week before our stay that we had to pay if we wanted to have them, so an unexpected extra cost.
There was only one fan in the house so it was rather uncomfortable at night and difficult to sleep-some extra fans would have been welcome!
The living room also would benefit from some proper armchairs rather than the 2 beds that are provided to sit on.
But it is a beautifully situated holiday home which we thoroughly enjoyed staying in.
