THE LOCATION
The peace and serenity you will find in the huge backyard oasis of this stunning 1,600-square-foot home are unique attributes and unlike any other desert property. Tall pine trees mingle next to palm and citrus trees for an extremely private retreat from the world. Relax on the semi-covered patio and watch the many birds who enjoy the backyard trees and pond as much as you will. While you sip your morning coffee or enjoy your happy hour cocktail, hummingbirds sip on the honeysuckle blooms nearby. You may even get to see our resident hawk come get a drink from the waterfall! When the sun goes down you can see the iconic illuminated Palm Desert cross on the nearby mountainside.
Just a mile down the hill via a quick car ride or a 15-20 minute walk, you will arrive at the Rodeo Drive of the Desert for your high end shopping or spa experience along El Paseo. Shops include Burberry, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and many more. Take a break from the boutiques and art galleries to have lunch at one the many open air restaurants while admiring the gorgeous mountain views in every direction. Visit the always free Palm Desert location of the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Wednesday morning Farmers market for fresh local produce grown mere miles away in the southeastern Coachella Valley.
This is a golfers paradise with endless options of top-rated courses. While staying at this home, you'll be within 15 minutes of 12 country clubs - so get ready to hit the links and tee off!
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is a popular attraction and just 2 miles away.
Continue to fill your getaway with memorable moments when you hike or bike one of the nearby trails, try your luck at one of the nearby casinos, catch a professional tennis match at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, sip some wine or beer as you watch a professional Polo match at Empire or Eldorado Polo Clubs, or join the audience at the seasonal Coachella or Stagecoach Music Festivals - these and more located within a 30-minute drive of this home. Coachella Valley Preserve, Salton Sea and Joshua Tree National Park are all within an hours drive and perfect day trips to experience the beauty of the desert.

About the host
Hosted by Karin & Doug

Originally from the East Coast and Midwest, we met in Wyoming and have also lived in Northern California and Oregon. Having traveled the country extensively, we have come to the conclusion that the Coachella Valley is a very special place. We currently reside in Portland and are looking forward to spending winters in Palm Desert when we retire in a few years. In the meantime, we're happy to share our Palm Desert home with you! So enjoy the sunshine and think of us from time to time, envying you as we toil away in the rainy gray weather up north.
Why they chose this property
Believe me when I tell you that we scoured the Coachella Valley for the perfect location. We quickly narrowed the search to the "cove" areas to get a little protection from the winds and better access to mountain trails. The area of South Palm Desert attracted us for its central valley location, views and proximity to quality shopping - Trader Joes and Whole Foods are must haves! We also enjoy being able to walk the mile down to El Paseo for morning coffee or afternoon happy hour.
Once we had the location narrowed down, we searched for the perfect doesn't actually exist. So we bought this one and set out to make it as perfect we could - we're thrilled with how it's turned out and happy to have completed our last ever remodel!

What makes this property unique
We were sold on this property after seeing the unique backyard - I haven't seen another quite like it in the desert. Mature pine trees happily mingle with palm and citrus as a reminder that you are leaving the desert floor behind and heading up into the mountains. Hummingbirds constantly visit in search of nectar and the neighborhood hawk stops by the pond often to take a sip of water. The iconic Palm Desert Cross is illuminated on the hillside just to the west and is visible from the backyard at night. Once you've tried the juicy Meyer lemons straight from the tree, it will be hard to enjoy a store bought lemon ever again.
