This house has been in our family since it was built in the 1940s. The house was smaller back then but had an addition put on sometime later. We bought the house from the family a few years ago and have been renovating it a little at a time. We have put a lot of work (and heart) into keeping the charm of the house while trying to update it with some conveniences. With all of this being said, we hope you are comfortable and enjoy the house as much as we do.
Step outside and you`ll find a beautiful backyard with a barbecue grill and plenty of seating for you to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. In the evenings, gather around the fire pit for some s`mores and stargazing.
You will see plenty of deer, geese, and ducks on the property at any given time. The porch is an amazing place to sit at the end of the day with a cold drink and watch the sunset. If we can do anything to make your stay more enjoyable, don’t hesitate to reach out, and please kick back and relax and enjoy all that Chincoteague has to offer!

It was a really great place to stay for a long weekend, beds are super comfortable, a quiet neighborhood. Not far from the main road of the island, would stay again.
Wonderful central location for all island activities, clean and cozy home with great outdoor spaces and relaxing front porch! We loved the opportunity to use the beach cruisers and chairs too. We would definitely stay here again if visiting the island!
Overall felt like home. very cozy with nice antique decor. loved sitting outside and front porch i don't want to recommend cuz don't want competition with future booking i return in August got very relaxed and wish I had stayed longer best place on the island
Great location! Very clean. They had all the things a little family vacation needed. It was nice to have some toys for the kids to play with while taking a break from the heat. The beach was super close and so was the park. If you're looking for a family friendly place look no further!
Return visit and it was awesome. Hope to come back this fall but definitely back in june 2026! I don't ever want to stay in a hotel again. This place just feels so good. Enjoyed every minute.
Clean and comfortable, great home base for a visit.
The place was clean and comfortable. We used the excellent charcoal grill our first night and the kitchen was equipped with all you need to cook for your crew. Beds were comfortable and AC units kept the place cool.
This property was everything we needed for a trip to Chincoteague! The house was exactly as listed and the owner’s effective communication was top notch. The location of the house was great and we were easily able to come and go with ease. We saw the ponies , did a boat tour , found a great playground and basketball court and ate the best ice cream. Highly recommend!
We have been to the island several times in the summer, but this was our first visit in the fall and this house was perfect for it- the screened in porch provided an ideal spot for soaking up fresh air and cozying up with a blanket and a book. The house is very nice- it was clean, in a quiet area, and super close to Memorial Park. We appreciated being able to use the bikes and had so much family fun exploring on them. We also biked to both Main Street and Maddox Blvd., not a bad bike ride at all! The backyard is another plus with the firepit. Great communication from the owners.
Fun had by all. House we a perfect fit for our group of four. Enjoyed the 49th annual oyster festival will be back for the 50th. Our stay was Friday to Monday which allow us to explore a bit more and enjoy some local fare and hot spots - would fully recommend to unwind and decompress.

Jeff and his crew were great guests! I'm glad you all enjoyed the Oyster Festival. I hope we can host you again next year.
Cozy, comfortable, clean, welcoming! Lovely home and decor - we didn’t want to leave! Comfortable beds, large living area and eat in kitchen. Thoughtful touches throughout the home. Quiet neighborhood. We used the bikes provided. There are kayaks, boogie boards and beach chairs. Washer and Dryer, Fire pit and plenty of outdoor seating. Close to everything! This trip was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream of seeing the Chincoteague ponies. Having a beautiful place to stay was icing on the cake! Highly recommend!!!!
This home is cozy, quaint, and so comfortable. It has the character of an older home with some great updates. The kitchen and dining area was perfect for family meals. The beds were comfy. The neighborhood is quiet while also being close to all of the attractions and restaurants. Our kids loved the Lincoln Logs and the big t.v.
Kevin was an attentive host throughout our entire visit, even messaging to let us know about a rocket launch from Wallops and the best places to view it. This was a great vacation. We will be renting again!

Thank you for staying and for the great review Jaclyn. We are so glad you enjoyed it and we hope you will return soon!
In town for the Seafood festival. House was in a great spot for a 20 minute walk to Tom's Cove. We also enjoyed walking to The Pearl for food and beverages...and their live music by Emily on Friday night.
The cottage was PERFECT. Very clean and well maintained with a great vibe. Front porch was great to hang out on. We wish we had more time, and slightly warmer weather, to hang out around the fire pit. We had a small issue with a storm door handle. Owner was very responsive and pleasant to work with. We'd love to visit again and would not hesitate to book at Happy Ours the next time!
At the time I booked this property, there were only 2 reviews, and I was hesitant to stay without knowing more. But the description and the pictures looked great, so we decided to give it a chance. The home was exactly as described, though the family room and kitchen areas were even bigger than we imagined. There was a lot of beach-themed decor, which added to the charm. We had some questions for the owner, including during our stay, and he always replied immediately. It was about a 10 minute drive to the beach, but regardless of where you stay on Chincoteague, you'll have to drive to the beach. It was very close to Memorial Park, which had a nice playground for younger kiddos, and is where they do the Pony Swim. It was close enough to the main street with a majority of the restaurants. We would definitely recommend this property and stay again.
