Welcome to Moonrakers, a thoughtfully renovated whaling captain's house in the heart of Nantucket’s historic district. Built in 1806 by carpenter Lot Hinckley, this 4BR/4 full bathroom and one powder room home, radiates island style and 19th century New England charm. Authentic architectural details, classic yet comfortable decor, in-town convenience, and easy off-street parking for three cars are easy reasons to love Moonrakers. The house can accommodate up to 8 people, 3 kings, one queen and one cot in case of overflow/extra child.
Moonrakers’ recently revamped gourmet kitchen features updated amenities including Viking appliances, stainless cookware, Carrera marble countertops and whimsical Thibaut and Mind the Gap wallpaper. Enjoy an island adventure during the shoulder seasons with 6 working fireplaces or central A/C. Classic mahogany furnishings with indigo blue and white decor throughout. The house is 2500+ square feet and has 9 rooms. The first floor consists of a living and dining room both with fireplaces; kitchen, laundry room, a separate library, and powder room. Both the front parlor and the library have televisions.
The second floor has a common den area and 3 bedrooms, each with a king bed and bathroom (The master has both tub and shower, other two only showers).
The recently renovated third floor has a queen bed and its own bathroom (shower) and window's walk access with outstanding views of the harbor. Not for the faint of heart considering how high the roof is. Marvelous for sunset cocktails or morning coffee. Please note the third room is only accessed through the master bedroom so keep this in mind when considering the layout for guests and privacy.
For the cocktails and plein air dining Moonrakers' peaceful garden terrace is perfect for lounging with plenty of shade or sunlight, a table for 8 and comfortable teak seating amid mature garden beds. A very useabe outdoor shower tucked away behind laundry room.
Moonraker's location is pretty ideal~ a four-minute walk to Main Street for visiting independent boutiques, restaurants, art galleries, movie theatre, library, whaling museum, boat basin, grocery & liquor stores. Best of all, Moonrakers offers 3 off-street parking spaces so you can enjoy the beach by day and hit the town for dinner without the parking hassle!
