Great location, very well equipped, parking available. Nice big kitchen with a nice big common area. We loved staying here and would love to come back again.
Amazing spot and great house. I will be coming back. Perfect for what we needed. We come to Charleston once a year to see friends and spend time. This house is amazing for a family and additional friends to come too.
We really enjoyed staying at The The Lord Ashley. James was always prompt with info and suggestions. The property was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. I highly recommend this property.
Great location for eating and bar hopping on a kings Street! Place was extremely clean and all appliances worked great! Large space and great for social gatherings!
My family and I enjoyed a long weekend at this property. The house is nicely located and walkable to many parks and restaurants. The host was very kind and accommodating, really went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended.
The Lord Ashley is a beautiful property, situated conveniently by several restaurants and within a short walk to The Citadel. We met James, the host, upon arrival. He was welcoming and gave us some good tips on places to eat. We spent a lot of time on the large front porch which overlooked a neighborhood park with a beautiful fountain. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The kitchen was huge and had all we needed by way of glassware, dishes, ice, and other comforts of home.
Stayed here for a girls weekend with the six of us. Plenty of room to spread out and three bathrooms to get ready in. Our host James was very accommodating and informative. The house is so cute and the neighborhood has some great walkable restaurants and parks nearby.
First visit to Charleston. Liked the quiet neighborhood, very peaceful in the morning and at night, but 10 min or less to just about everything.
Owner communicated very well, super easy process.
We had the best experience with both the host and the house. The host was always quick to respond and the house was even better and more spacious than the photos. It was very clean, fully stocked and in a super cute area of town. Every single bed was extremely comfortable too. I will definitely be staying here again!
Love this house! Very well appointed, terrific kitchen, great flow, charming neighborhood. Very accommodating for our large teenagers. The porch a coveted hang out spot.
This place is impeccably done. From the kitchen to the bedrooms, it is a perfect combination of original 100+ year old details and modern. The front porch is a treasure. The owner was absolutely incredible to work with. He was exceptionally responsive and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.
My family and I were visiting Charlestown for our cousins wedding. We had a great time exploring the city and had a beautiful home to come back to and relax. James was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Check in and check out was quick and simple. We were all extremely happy with our stay and would happily book again.
Mother daughter trip for my girls sweet 16. The house was so close to everything. We walked to several places close, spent a day in Sullivan’s island. The house is huge! The girls enjoyed their separate suite downstairs. Lots of seperate places for all ages!! A trip to never forget!!
We had 6 women and it was very comfortable and spacious. If more than 2 people had trouble doing stairs if could be challenging as there is 1 BR on main floor. It worked great for us. Located in a wonderful neighborhood; we were able to walk to several wonderful restaurants. A very walkable neighborhood; close to large park. We enjoyed sitting on porch in evenings.
We stayed at this beautiful property for our annual girls’ trip—six women in our 50s—and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The house was spacious, well-appointed, and incredibly comfortable, with each of us having our own cozy bed, which was a huge plus.We especially loved the porch—it quickly became our favorite spot for morning coffee and evening wine. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, with easy driveway parking for our rental car. It was just a quick 10-minute Uber ride into downtown Charleston, making it super convenient without being in the middle of the crowds. The kitchen was large and well-stocked, and everything about check-in and check-out was seamless. Communication with the host was quick and easy, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. This home truly had everything we needed for a relaxing, fun, and memorable getaway. Highly recommend—we’d stay here again in a heartbeat!
We had a fantastic time staying at the Lord Ashley! The accommodations including the bedrooms and bathrooms were in great condition. The kitchen is very well stocked with different appliances, cookware, and cooking items ie. foil, Pam, oil, etc. We were provided with a bag of ice, which was a nice touch. We had a toddler with us and he enjoyed the high chair and pack n play that were provided by the host. We also appreciated the view from the deck to the park across the street.
We had a wonderful time!

About the host
Hosted by James Ravenel
Born and raised in Charleston, SC, I started off as an S.O.B., South Of Broad :) I now live further up the peninsula in Hampton Park Terrace, which I adore. With its leafy streets and neighborhood vibrancy, I love staying close to home enjoying all the new local restaurants and bars. I've been lucky enough to live abroad, travelling the world teaching ESL, surfing and falling in love with various cities, but I still consider Charleston one of the most beautiful and charming I've ever seen!
Why they chose this property
I fell in love with this quintessential Arts and Crafts era home the second I saw it. The open floor plan and sunlit rooms immediately won me over. But my favorite part is the glorious little park it sits directly on. There's nothing better than waking up on a spring day in Charleston and being able to sip my morning coffee over-looking the flowing fountain and grand live oak trees from my porch.
What makes this property unique
Enjoying a lazy afternoon laying on the porch swing with a book in the shade and having friends and family over for a BBQ in the back patio.
