There are 2 office work areas, a library, dining room, an Adirondack & Aspen inspired Great Room with a massive fireplace, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths + 3 single day beds, and a fully stocked kitchen w/a Wolf stove. Explore nearby Hudson Valley fun: hiking, biking, kayaking, horseback riding, boating and more. Find antiques or explore the many shops of the cute nearby town of Cold Spring. A day and soccer camp for kids are just down the road. Located 5 minutes from the Taconic State Parkway and 20 minutes from Metro-North train station where you're close to stores and amenities but are located in an area "where the country begins".

I'm a long-time Putnam Valley NY resident and lover of the area. I am a documentary filmmaker and newly retired NYU professor. I enjoy hiking, swimming, kayaking, gardening, dinner with friends and family and reading biographies especially about music. I love to host the Lodge because I take pride in it's relaxing power. It’s rewarding to provide guests recommendations for hikes, restaurants, and unique activities in this special area. We like to help guests make the most of their stay.

-Also, we do ON OCCASION ALLOW FOR A PET. Let us know type, age, and situation and we can confer. A small fee may apply. We ask guests to agree to a few things but most importantly, we ask guests to agree they will be financially responsible (not just via VRBO insurance policy) for any repairs or replacements needed due to possible pet damages.

I've lived in the area most of my life and wanted a home that could offer me peace and harmony from my busy profession. This property is my refuge and a special place. I am pleased to be able to offer this great retreat of a place with others who are respectful of the place, the property and this unique town and community.

What makes this property unique

The property offers a variety of unique niches indoors and out which create a truly special atmosphere. You can relax in the hot tub on the back deck or take a short stroll up to the pool nestled in the hillside. Multiple outdoor patios and decks provide perfect spots for dining w/ friends and family, unwinding, and soaking in the views.

The Lodge design was inspired by Adirondack and Aspen ski lodges. Indoors you will discover our stunning great room, cozy reading nooks, and our favorite little window filled room upstairs that we call the "treehouse room" that's looks out to the back deck, the large pine trees and the rest of the hillside. The home office and library offer 2 spaces for focused work or reflection. There's also a desk upstairs in one of the master suites for further privacy.
You can listen to the soothing sound of the stream just outside your window after it rains. On chilly nights or even cool rainy evenings in the spring or summer you will enjoy gathering around the fireplace in both the great room and the dining room. For outdoor enthusiasts, a private trail up at the top of the property leads into the woods ,and the Granite Mountain Preserve hiking trails are just a short walk away. Additionally, Fahnestock Memorial State Park is only 15 minutes away and the Hudson Highlands are about 25 mins away which provide even more opportunities for adventure.
