While we lovingly refer to our home up north as "The Cabin" it is far from just a cabin. Cottage on the outside, cabin on the inside, this home has it all! LAKE, ORV trails, a stunning home, and best of all you can bring your fur babies (dogs only - $50/dog). Ramp to front porch for more accessibility. Pontoon boat (10 person, 25 hp) available to rent ($400/week). This unique 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath home is located on Little Island Lake and is less than 0.5 miles from the ORV trails (Sand Lake ORV Trailhead). When the lake level is normal, we have a large sandy swimming area. Additionally, our cabin is located approximately 10 minutes from Corsair Trails, for hiking and groomed cross-country skiing. Only 20 minutes from Red Hawk Golf club in East Tawas. Be sure to check out Lumberman's Monument and Largo Springs in Oscoda. Enjoy the peace and quiet of this lake front home as you sit on the deck and enjoy your morning coffee. Lake side deck also has a patio table and new Weber gas grill allowing you to enjoy nice summer evenings with family and friends. Little Island Lake is shallow with a sandy bottom bottom along the shore and island when water levels are normal. We have a large sandy beach and sand toys for kids. Rental includes kayak’s (2), paddle boards (2), and corn hole. Additionally, the house has air conditioning, a washer and dryer, dishwasher, kitchen aid stand mixer, pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, silverware, blender, electric pancake griddle, electric skillet, measuring utensils and includes sheets and bath towels. We have a baby gate already up at the bottom of the stairs, a booster seat to strap onto a chair, a pack n’ play, and a step stool in the bathroom for kids. Max of 10 people (not including infants <1 year of age). There are plenty of sleeping options with 2 bedroom’s on the main level (2 with queen beds) and a large loft (2 queen bed’s, 4 twin bed’s, and a full size futon). There is also a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. Our home is located approximately 15 minutes from Tawas/Lake Huron (beaches and parks) and is less than 3 hours from Detroit. Smart TV’s and WiFi included.

Perfect updated Rental for Family

Came into town to visit family. This layout is perfect for a family. New appliances, comfortable setting. Plenty of sleeping spaces. Wish we were here during the summer to enjoy the lake, but still enjoyed the view with morning coffee.

Bradley weekend

Beautiful lake home and Courtney is very responsive and easy to talk to. This is our 6th year staying at her home and it has been perfect every time. We will be returning to continue to make wonderful fall family memories together at this wonderful home.

Great Cabin

We enjoyed our stay! Cottage was very clean - except for the grill - so much grease. It would have taken a long time to clean up. Feel it should be something that is kept clean for guest. Cottage was well supplied. Lake is very small and shallow and at the cottage shore line filled with "oily" black substance (dead plant material after treatment in late Aug, maybe?)

Perfect family setting

This is the second time we’ve had the opportunity to stay here and it was everything we remembered from 2020. Our four kids aged 7-15 had a blast and asked if we could come back next summer. Unfortunately it’s booked. As my kids would say “My bad”. My advice is book it now! Thanks for the great memories! We’ll be back.

Cottage Great Water Not So Great

The house was very nice, was pretty clean in general. Washer & dryer was nice to have did lots of laundry! Tried to have all the sheets & blankets done on check out day but with early check out time wasn’t able to did leave 1 load in washer & 1 in dryer. Loft upstairs was huge could easily be 2 rooms but it worked as is for the kids & their 20 something aunt. Sandy beach was nice, water well… we go up north to swim, float, etc but the sandy bottom was covered in brownish algae? Cleared it up a bit with a lot of raking but there was also seaweed at end of dock. Lake depth is under 8 feet (yes total) didn’t see sand bottom anywhere on our pontoon rides all black. Was great having the pontoon (weekly rate great too) Lots of atv action flying up & down the street we brought a small 4 wheeler & mini bike which we only used the first weekend. The trails were a 1/2 mile away & more for larger vehicles but the kids still had fun checking it out. There is a large grassy area next to the cottage which we assumed was part of the property since the neighbors had a small fence dividing their property from it the kids did ride up it to the street & though I was right there the neighbors called the owner to complain instead of talking to me. We only used the driveway after. Nice they allow pets our shepherd enjoyed swimming and jumping off the dock. on our pontoon rides.

Perfect

We had an amazing stay in this beautiful house! Place was clean and ready to enjoy when we arrived. Water toys stored in the shed were clean and so was the boat. Kids and pup we able to swim right in front of the house. We fished off the dock and paddled out to the little island. Had a great visit. Small little internet issue, but Courtney took care of us right away! Highly recommend!!

Another wonderful stay

This is our third year staying at Iwanicki cottage. We love it here! The property is very clean and spacious. They have a high chair/booster and pack and play for the grandkids, which makes packing easier. They also have toliet paper, paper towel, napkins, a dishwasher with detergent and a washer and dryer with detergent. They go out of their way to make your stay a home away from home. The beach is fantastic, the grandkids and our dog Maggie played for hours in the sand as well as the lake. We also rent the pontoon for the week, which we love taking out for sunset cruises. We can’t say enough good things about the property and the hosts. We are looking forward to our stay next year.

Great time

Our stay was from 6/11 thru 6/17. The property was cleaned & ready. Very cute & cozy cottage. Our sons & their families came up for Father's Day weekend. All 10 of us had plenty of room. Had a great time fishing, kayaking, & riding around the lake in the pontoon boat. Youngest granddaughter had a great time playing in the sand & swimming.

Wonderful weekend & stay

The VRBO was exactly like the pictures/ post. We were lucky enough to come up with a group of friends to spend memorial weekend together on the lake and riding the ORV trails on our bikes. My boyfriend and I even got engaged this weekend which made the weekend and stay even more special. Super thankful for the awesome host and property, will be back!!!

Dog friendly lake house

I don't even know where to begin! We've been looking for a Northern MI lakefront property that would allow us to bring our two dogs. This was it! The host, Courtney, was absolutely amazing! She answered all my (many!) questions immediately and the check in process was seamless! Even though it rained for half of our stay, we still had an amazing time! The dogs loved the lake and played in it every day! This house had everything you could ever need! Just bring your clothes and food and you're all set. The grill worked great, firepit was awesome and we were able to even kayak. We are definitely going back! We found our spot - no need to look anywhere else!!!! Thank you, Courtney, for your hospitality and opening up your beautiful lake home to us and our fur babies!!!!

Bradley vacation

I can’t say enough about Courtney’s beautiful lake house. It is stocked with essentials, roomy enough for our family of 6 adults and one child, has 2 bathrooms, beds are all comfy, and the loft that sleeps 8 overlooking the lake is fabulous. This is our 5th fall staying at the house and will continue to return every fall.

Perfect R&R Place!

Courtney & her crew thought of everything to deliver a perfect place for some R&R! All the essentials are provided & the lake home and grounds have everything you need to enjoy time away! Being able to rent the pontoon from them rather than finding one from a marina was a huge bonus! The lake is small, but so peaceful! More a fun “catch & release” fishing spot than swimming, but we enjoyed both while we were there. Wonderful for kayaking… especially to the little island. Our kids loved that! The house gave plenty of space for everyone, while still feeling nice & cozy! (And so organized which adds to the peacefulness!) We’re so thankful to have had the opportunity to spend some overdue time away here!

70th Birthday Getaway

House was lovely! Just as in the description of the place. Had everything we needed while we were there. Weather was not good, which is always unpredictable, but we made the best of it by playing games and spending family time together. The only bad thing i can say is that the grill was filthy when we got there. We tried to clean it but it was so dirty we gave up and never did use it. It was too cold to eat outside anyway, so it didn't really ruin anything for us. The owner was very quick to respond whenever i had a question. The pontoon boat ran well and gave us some fun fishing time out on the lake. The area is very nice for a relaxing getaway! Overall, very nice!

Girls weekend

The house was super clean and very well equip for outdoor activities, paddle boarding, kayaking, corn hole and a vey nice grill. The boat was perfect for a leisurely ride around the lake and to dock at the island. Good time for all.

Family vacation

Our 5th year to gather together as a family at a lake, best lake and cottage ever! The kids loved being able to jump in the water and play in the sand. We rented the pontoon and though the lake is small we still had fun driving around and fished- catch and release. The upstairs loft was amazing and offers so much sleeping room. The air conditioning and the ceiling fans really kept it cool. Deck is huge and we sat out there most of the time- shade in the late afternoon. Amenities were everything we needed and washer dryer were brand new. Kitchen well stocked and large table was perfect for playing cards. Tawas was a short drive away and on the rainy days we bowled and did axe throwing. The adventurous ones rented jet skis and spent time on Lake Huron, also has a wonderful beach park there and mini golf. Only 1.5 hrs to Frankenmuth water park, another rainy day place we went. Short drive to National Park and the drive along Lake Huron is always beautiful. We will always treasure the memories we made this year!

Great stay! Home is well equipped!

Beautiful place. The lake is peaceful and quiet. Not very big so great for kayaking and paddle boarding! The pontoon boat was nice to have too. The kids loved the sandy beach. The house is very clean and so well equipped! Everything we needed and more. There were sticks for cooking marshmallows in the fire, sand toys for kids, corn hole boards. In the kitchen was a crockpot, mixer, grilling supplies, and more. The loft is a great space for lots of people to sleep. There’s plenty of room so it doesn’t feel cramped. These hosts really have done a great job with the place. Highly recommend this spot!

Wonderful family get away

Beautiful property just amazing for families with children. I loved the open latout of the house and the loft for the children. The beach gave the kids plenty of room to spread out and play. So many possibilities for activities with kayaks, paddle boards and inflatable boat. We also took advantage of the pontoon during our stay which the kids and our dog also really enjoyed. There was also a box with pool noodles and a few sand toys, we did leave a few things in that bin for other children to enjoy. Nothing but wonderful things to say about this property! It had everything we needed for a enjoyable and memorable family vacation. Thank you for letting us make so many wonderful memories here.

Family Time

This is our 3rd (or 4th??) time renting from Courtney. Great, easy location. Perfect for riding the trails! The house is great! Clean. The beach and the water is always fun! Loved using the pontoon to cruise around the lake! Loved just getting away!!

My husband, my parents and myself decided to go in together and purchase a lake house for us to spend vacation time at and as a place that others would be able to rent and enjoy.

Why they chose this property

We spent almost 2 years looking for what we consider the "perfect place". That included a cottage/cabin with minimal repairs (because who wants to spend your vacation time making repairs), being on a lake with a sandy bottom so the kids can play and being within riding distance of ORV trails. It took us a while, but we finally found what we consider to be the perfect place!!

What makes this property unique

One of the great things about this home is it's open main level floor plan. My dad is in a wheelchair and he get's around great on the main level. Hopefully this fall we will be installing ramps for the front porch and back deck!!!
