Great get away.
Yes, the road to get there is a little trying, however, pretty safe if you have a SUV or a 4WD like they suggest. Location was great as you can see the tubers and rafters float place the place. The house is beautiful and well loved. Next dog neighbors dog will welcome you with a wiggly butt. I would absolutely recommend this place as a new spot on your vacation list. WiFi is a little spotty but internet is good.
The cabin is nice and right by the water. Loved the river access. The only problem was the neighbors dog which was sweet and very friendly to kids and my dog which I paid 150 to bring. I also kept my dog crated when we went anywhere ( she weighs 6 pounds) but when we returned from town I stepped in a big pile of fresh dog crap! We also had to keep shoes on children because apparently dogs that live around there use the parking area and around the deck for a potty. I picked up after my dog but it seems I was the only one. Other than that we enjoyed the beautiful river and watching the birds.

The property and setting were fantastic. The problem with the property is that you almost need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get there.
Bachelor party for friend the place was perfect slept us all and had a beautiful view of the river.

Too cold for comfort
The cabin was nice. The heating unit would not heat well so we only stayed one of the 3 nights we booked. Also, the long trail getting to the cabin was hazardous which was NOT mentioned in the ad. In fact there is a sign posted at the beginning of the driveway that says “enter at your own risk”.

Quiet Solitude
This was a perfect getaway. There was plenty of room and seating to relax, eat, sleep, and play. It had the basics for cooking such as salt and pepper and a couple of seasonings. There were so many pots and pans and baking dishes. The bedding was so clean and fresh. The neighbors were really nice. We truly enjoyed our stay. The drive to the property was a bit nerve racking at first. The road is very well maintained and was easy to get used to driving. Thanks for the stay!
It was okay but the trash bin was extra full we stayed four days and had 3 bags of trash and could not put any of them in the trash cans and they wanted us to take the garbage out which was ok and they did provide the trash bags but if you stay longer than that take you more paper towels and toilet tissue you will need them.

Quick weekend getaway with friends
My wife and I with another couple came up for a weekend. The driveway was long and narrow and we were concerned after reading several reviews about it however it was no trouble at all. Cabin was nice and well supplied. Our only issue was traffic noise, while picturesque there is a major highway right across the river and somewhat takes away from the tranquility we hoped for with the river proximity to the back porch. Overall nice place to stay but I doubt we come back....

A nice place to stay but...
We (wife and I and 17 yo grandson) enjoyed our week stay at the Orr house. Everything was as advertised. Especially nice was the access to the river for fishing, tubing, wading, swimming, etc. The drive from the main road was challenging especially the last half mile; you had to pay attention but my wife and her passenger car had no real problem. Even in my 4 wheel drive truck you had to be alert to road conditions and oncoming traffic. Overall not a problem.
Of concern was a neighbor's small overly friendly dog. It would come around whether you wanted it to or not. If you like dogs like we do it is hard not to pet or befriend a friendly dog. But it was hard to get the dog to leave. But the big complaint is that the dog would do its business on the gravel pad where we parked our cars. Every morning we had to be on the lookout particularly after stepping in the do-do. So every morning we were picking up the poop before we walked in it. The next door neighbor who I was told was the daughter of the cabin owner and in charge of our rental said you could only get the dog owner to do so much. No matter how much you love dogs you do not love cleaning up another persons dog mess.
It is otherwise a nice rental but it is too bad the dog cant be controlled.
We picked this cabin for the location with the river for the kids to fish. The river was a little high due to the recent rain. They still fished every day and had fun. The only complaint I have is the King bed was super hard. The comforter also smelled like a dog but I couldn’t complain about that because I knew it was a dog friendly cabin. I simply took it off and we used some other blankets. We enjoyed tubing in Bryson City (So much fun) and had to try Speedys Pizza which was amazing. I would recommend both! Thanks for sharing your cabin!!

Great vacation home
My husband and I plus our three kids loved the Orr house. It has an awesome cabin feel. We enjoyed the sandy area by the river. We had plenty of kitchen supplies although we were missing a broom! I would suggest getting one. Also I would suggest dusting of the blinds and ceiling fans. The wifi worked better than expected for being in the mountains. The single unpaved road is a little unnerving but having read the reviews we knew what to expect. I would also like to mention that in the photos of the Orr house you clearly have 5 rocking chairs on the back deck. Which is perfect for our family of five but there are actually only three which one was covered in bird droppings. That was disappointing. All in all we enjoyed our stay!

Holy Highway Noise!
First off the cabin is very nice and comfortable and had everything we needed, including a gas grill with 2 propane tanks handy. The view of the river from the deck and grounds is beautiful. This is a secluded cabin in only the sense that you will have to traverse a roughed-in one way mountain rd. This was no issue for our 4WD Subaru and we only encountered 3 other vehicle's on our 6 night stay, luckily we encountered them near a passable area otherwise one of us would have to reverse down a steep narrow rd. Once you reached this beautiful cabin you think you have made it to peace and serenity... until you realize the main highway that runs through the town is just a stones throw away across the river and drowns out any peace and quiet you are seeking. Unfortunately i had already booked a nonrefundable stay before reading the others comments about this issue, so if you are reading this, think twice about whether this will bother you or not. Its not so loud it will keep you up in your bedroom, but is loud enough to drown out the babbling river noise all day and night. I came up from the very busy Tampa FL area and hear less road traffic. This was a huge disappointment and although a beautiful cabin and view. We will not return. Also, towels smelled terrible, had to rewash multiple times and there was pet hair on all the comforters. We tossed them off the beds and used the provided clean sheets and throws. Everything else was sparkling clean.
We had a nice stay. The views were beautiful and the Tuck was awesome as always. The house was what we expected from the pictures. I had read the reviews about the road but it was more challenging than we had anticipated. We enjoyed meeting the neighbor and of course the neighborhood dog. She was very sweet and very friendly.

Amazing cabin on the water
Such a great place. It's a drive back and I highly recommend an SUV to get there, but just stunning cabin and grounds to spend a very quiet retreat.

River Fun -June 2025
We had a great time at this cabin. It is close to everything, but the road is long to the house so you may want to stop for groceries before you get to the cabin. Bring your fishing gear and a float or tube. This property is right on the river so it adds endless fun to your stay.

River sounds are calming
Loved the river view and fishing. It was great to be able to drop at the bridge and tubing down took about an hour. Spent almost 2 weeks there and was not ready to go home.
The best! This is our second time there and we will continue to return. This place is always clean, very relaxing, and the sweetest neighbor dog. We love it!
