This beautifully restored one-of-a-kind oceanfront home has all the charm of yesteryear with the added conveniences and sustainability of today. Meticulously appointed and private, the views and location are spectacular. The Guardian newspaper has listed Kona Moana Hale as one of the Top Beach Houses in the World.

Completely renovated, this updated home has hardwood floors, granite countertops, koa cabinets, stainless steel appliances, air conditioning, iHome docking stations, Bose outdoor speakers with Bluetooth receiver (to pair your own devices and play music), iTouch pre-loaded with various Hawaiian music, wireless internet, full size washer/dryer, brand new California king bedroom set, luxurious bedding, hdtv plasma in great room and bedroom, gas bbq, teak lounges, etc etc. All lights are on dimmers so you can create your own environment and mood. There's even an indoor switch to light up the water at night to create a spectacular view!

Ideally located overlooking Kahaluu Beach, you are within feet of the best snorkeling and surfing on the island. (If you do surf or stand up paddleboard, you can paddle straight out and be in the break in less than 5 minutes.) Dolphin sightings are quite common. During winter months, whales can be seen daily as they swim by.

Uniquely situated on a 9000 sq ft oceanfront lot, this home is a one-of-a-kind. You will experience complete privacy with expansive views up and down the coast. (We also own the property next door where you are free to pick papayas, bananas, etc. or just sit and watch the sunset.) While there is so much to do on the Big Island, you will have a difficult time pulling yourself away from your home and the incredible views and sounds of the ocean. You will find this special place to be relaxing, rejuvenating and inspiring.

Upon arrival you will be provided with tropical flower arrangements, kona coffee and an assortment of fresh fruit. Playing softly in the background is Hawaiian music accompanied by the gentle sound of the ocean. The setting is nothing short of amazing.

Dream Location

We have rented more than 20 VRBO units in and around Kona, over nearly 30 trips, and this was an absolute dream! We used all of the space, and basically lived on the lanai. Quiet, private, and had everything we could have needed!

It's An Incredible Property!

Oh how we love to return to Kona Moana Hale! This property has been a favorite of our for years. The cottage is spotless and the location is wonderful - close to what we feel is the perfect beach for snorkeling. Combine that with an owner who clearly cares about visitors, a lanai with fabulous views and a Hawaii area that restores souls...it results in wonderful memories.

What a gem!

This was a wonderful place to decompress before Christmas! I could spend hours looking at the ocean, taking a break only to walk over to Kahalu’u beach to snorkel. This was a great location, and I’d love to come back.

A slice of heaven

You can't get much more oceanfront than this house. Only downside is that once you're settled into the swing on the covered lanai with a book and glass of wine you may never leave to explore the island! Owner was immediately available and accommodating. Excellent property.

An amazing oceanfront cottage experience with great hosts

As described, this cottage is truly stunning. You can't get much closer to the waves and beauty of the Pacific Ocean than this and the beautiful sunsets are beyond description. This is an ideal location for singles or couples and the cottage is beautifully decorated with some very nice and thoughtful welcoming touches (floral displays, fresh fruit). Our host Yvonne was extremely attentive to any needs or questions we had. Highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a special and memorable stay on Hawaii's Big Island and we hope to return there again.

Perfection!

This house is absolutely perfect! Stunning views, super clean, and great location. The owner was very responsive with all requests. Every room in the house offers the most unbelievable views! The best rental I’ve experienced! Keep your eyes open for pods of dolphins swimming right by the house! Tons of runners in the area too which helped inspire me to get up and start each day with a jog.

On the ocean - front and center!

The house was just the right size for us and having two bathrooms was a pleasure. Decor was superb. The outdoor deck was massive and the owners had added a hanging couch attached to the overhang by ropes. Unique set-up. Getting in and out of the driveway was a challenge at times as traffic along Ali'i Drive was pretty heavy during the day because of the surfing beach nearby. We could walk to the beach, but walking on Ali'i Drive was a bit hazardous. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Can't wait to go back.

Look no further

Nothing comes close to this amazing high end yet comfortable cottage. When you walk in you realize this truly is perfection in paradise! I can't put my finger on just one thing, its perfect in so many ways. The overall vibe here is a calming connection to Hawaii that we have not experienced other places. The atmosphere here is all about relaxing and taking it all in. The cottage is by far the best maintained and clean property we have ever stayed in. The view...spectacular! We love that each time we stay, Yvonne and Steve have somehow managed to improve upon perfection. The addition of the antique daybed swing on the covered lanai is a magical spot for an afternoon nap as well as the incredible hammock below the deck in the private garden!

Perfect!

This was our second time staying at this property, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else on the Big Island. The house is right on the water with a huge west facing, partly covered deck - this is the perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee, watching the surfers and the pods of yellow tangs nibbling at the waters edge, and taking in the beautiful sunsets in the evening. They have added a swing seat hear which makes it even more relaxing.Location is ideal - far enough out of Kona to be away from the crowds and traffic, but close enough you can be at restaurants and downtown with a 10 min drive. Safeway is a 15 min drive away.The house has everything you need (including ample beach equipment), was spotless, and check in/out was a breeze. Host is very responsive and helpful. 100% recommend!!

Beautiful view and accurate pictures. We had a pleasant stay. It was nice having an extra half bath also. The kitchen was well stocked and also fresh fruit was left on the counter for us! I do wish they had more of a privacy/sun shade curtain in the master bedroom. Overall our stay was very nice, and we would definitely stay here again.

Super Location, Super House, Super Aloha

Absolutely Fantastic....my wife and I have been vacationing on this strip of Ali'i Dr for over 20 years (at several different VRBOs) and this place lives up to all the reviews. The house is beautiful, clean and is so private for the location. We struggled daily with leaving and getting in the car. Why go anywhere else?If you are a stop at Costco first vacationer, the house is stocked with almost everything you could need - zip locks, paper towels, batteries, tupperware, etc. The only kitchen tool we couldn't find was a meat thermometer for grilling.On a side note: Kahalu'u bay snorkeling has more volume of fish/turtles and types of fish then 20 years ago. The Reef program is doing an amazing job.If you're looking for Aloha, book it, this place delivers.

Everything about our stay was perfect! The location was great, close to restaurants or other activities, but we found ourselves not wanting to leave the property. It was so relaxing to sit on the beautiful deck overlooking the ocean and read. We loved the swing couch! The owner has thought of every detail/need - even yoga mats! We loved having dinner at sunset on the deck while watching the surfers. We even saw a whale on our first and last evenings!
