3 blocks from Ocean!

Woody is an ideal guest! He treated the home as his own (or better), received a raving review from housekeeping, and had excellent communication. We highly recommend him as a guest, and he is always welcome to visit again!

Thank you for your review Alisha, and for taking great care of our home! We are pleased to hear that the home was perfectly comfortable and met-and-exceeded all needs for a family vacation stay! The home is located within 10 - 20 minutes of the beaches [downtown and Island beaches] which was shared on our listing description before your stay; there is not always a beach next to the ocean; but we understand that there are many details that we share in our description that could easily be missed. The ocean/bay is otherwise only 3 blocks away from the home and can even be walked to by the adventurous guest; Great for a morning jogger or cyclist too! Ocean Drive along the bay has a bike lane; beautiful scenic route! There is a nice little park, Ropes Park, right there at the shore to greet the adventurous guest who cycles walks/jogs to the bay from our home. We look forward to your next stay! Come back during the June-August months next year and see the North Padre Island sea turtle hatchling release that your family is sure to love!

George waited until late afternoon (3:32pm, Saturday) to inform us that there was a problem with the AC. He later expressed that it was uncomfortable since his arrival (which was the day before). Contrary to the contract agreement, George did not contact us as soon as he noticed the maintenance issue. However, maintenance was kind enough to make it out on short notice (within 30min, 4pm) to check on the problem. I had a portable AC confirmed (4:35pm) to be brought over and set up. The portable unit is advertised to have enough power to drop the temperature 20 degrees in 10 min for the entire square footage of the home. To this solution George responded (4:37pm), “No Katherine, I’m pretty sure this is something that cannot be fixed any time soon” and said he would check into a hotel. He asked that I “refund [him] one night & [his] damage deposit”. I refunded him the night and the damage deposit as requested. Contrary to the contract that George agreed to, he did not give a reasonable amount of time to respond to his report, nor did he cooperate with efforts to address the concern or to provide a remedy. The home is geographically located 3 blocks from the gulf waters. Situated so close to the water in a tropical climate, tropical insects (includes roaches) are a part of this tropical area and may occasionally make it inside. To note: there is no infestation as claimed. An occasional insect does not constitute an infestation. The house is clean and receives regular pest control service. The home is advertised as an older home. The detached garage is aesthetically older-built to the codes of its time and holds up well. It was not built with the intention to also seal out most external, tropical elements as are modern-built garages attached to homes. Encountering tropical insects in this outside/some-what open area (regardless of whether it too receives pest control service [it does]) is reasonably expected. I do get requests for repeat stays at my home. Experiences may vary.
