Our stay was so comfortable. The property is very pretty. The bed was so comfortable and there is plenty of space to stretch out . The house is off the main road. We were very comfortable there and we would stay again.
Richard and Marsha have a beautiful place to share. Upon arrival they gave us fresh asparagus grown on the property and they were delicious. The house is so comfortable and stocked with everything you could think of. My husband caught and released some nice bass for the next person. I enjoyed the swing and row boat. Pizza from The Ordinary was awesome. We enjoyed a nice round of golf at Valle Vista and didn't do too bad at the casino and horse racing in Shelbyville. We hope to come back again some day.
An incredible cabin that was very clean and well decorated. I was thrilled with the kitchen and its equipment. It was like home. We are looking forward to staying again in the future.
Our hosts were very cordial. The weather was severe and they phone us to see if we were ok. It was a comforting feeling being far from our home. Everything was perfect - we loved the HH.
Our home away from home in Indiana. This is a really special place. Beautiful scenery and wildlife. The house is a unique historical property with all the comforts of home.
Magical! Exactly what I needed and wanted. I can’t believe how close to Indy this is but yet in the country. The hosts did an amazing job restoring this 200 year old farmhouse, but yet it has all of today’s modern requirements. Great kitchen and propane gas grill for meals. The pond was a delight to watch the birds and the turtles! Wonderful grounds to walk especially with the spring flowers. Very quiet to listen to the birds and read on the deck. It was chilly one night so the gas fireplace was perfect. I had a couple of questions and Richard was so quick to respond. Even a Kroger just a few minutes away if you forgot something. And the added touch of spring flowers in a vase and chocolates in a bowl showed the attention to detail for their guests. I want to come back in every season!
Wonderful house and great hosts. Looking forward to returning.

This area was so cute, not hard to get to and very homely. Being able to just relax while it was raining was so lovely, would stay here again in a heartbeat.
One of the coziest, sweetest homes i have ever rented. The house and property were beautiful, sunrises gorgeous and time with my daughters was awesome. The home met all of our needs and beyond. Communication with host was wonderful. Instructions for departure simple. God willing, I will be back.

Great repeat visit. We stayed in the winter 2024 and came back again in the summer 2025. Property is great in all seasons! Plenty of room for a family dinner.
One of a kind stay near Indy. We loved our stay. The house is comfortable and has a the vibe of pioneer days with all the modern amenities. We will be back for sure.
My family and I enjoyed this location. There were tons of animals to see, the windows give a great opportunity to observe wildlife from the dinning room. House has a great history and great walking on the property itself. We enjoyed locating and identifying the local flora.

Thanks so much for your kind words. We do try to maintain the "nature aspects" of the property while providing many comforts and conveniences.
The cabin is minutes from Indy, but it seems as quiet as a cabin in the woods. The pond is right outside the lower level door. The kitchen is well stocked and clean. The kitchen table has a view of the water. Bedrooms and bathrooms are all very clean and comfortable. It was a return trip for us and we would stay here again.
The "Hutch House" is a great place to stay if you are looking for rest and relaxation. The home has a lot of character, and the lake view is spectacular. There is a lot of wildlife to enjoy, right from the deck or through the large windows. Richard and Marsha are wonderful hosts. Thank you!

Why they chose this property
We located this original hand hewn log home in southern Indiana and learned that it was built in 1817. it was soon to be destroyed by the owner, as it had become a safety hazard.. To salvage and preserve this important bit of history, we took the home apart log by log and transported it in late 1972 to its present location . After two years of construction it became livable in the fall of 1974. You will find a picture album in the home showing how the home was disassembled, transported and rebuilt at the present location. Although the house has retained the original footprint, the interior has been updated two times since the reconstruction; the latest was completed early this year of 2019. After 45 years of living here, we have decided to open the home for more people to experience just a bit of history in this modern environment.
