Hobby Horse - Rustic Maine Cabin, Ocean Access 22 miles from Acadia Nat'l Park

This rustic, cozy 2-bedroom cottage was originally a blacksmith shop. It has been converted to a Maine style "camp" with 1 queen bed and 2 twin beds (twin beds are not suitable for adults). It is very private on a large property. Enjoy ocean access to Contention Cove for beach combing, walking the shore and swimming. Eagle, deer and other nature abounds in this peaceful setting.

Dogs are allowed, please contact us in advance with the type/size of the dog. There will be a $175 non-refundable fee added to your reservation.

For the comfort of all our guests, no smoking is allowed.

The location of the property was perfect and close to everything. Lots of great recommendations for things to do and see while being there. The beach/ocean access was the best part of our stay. We took advantage of that as much as we could. A cozy little cabin in the woods

Beds very comfortable with many blanket options. This was important in late September as there is no central heat. Multiple space heaters are provided. Easy walk to the water in lovely quiet woodland setting.

There was a tiny issue with the bedroom that was resolved extremely quickly when we told the host. The location is beautiful and a short drive from a lot of good restaurants and stores for both necessities and fun stuff.

Adorable cabin! Rustic, comfy, charming and equipped with everything you need. This is a fantastic place tucked back in the woods along with access to a beautiful cove. It was nice and private feeling but close to everything the area has to offer. We would absolutely stay again!

Beautiful beach hideaway

There's much to recommend the Hobby Horse but the woodland path access to the beautiful rocky beach which we found excellent for swimming on some unusually hot June days can't be beat!

Great property. Very private and secluded. It did get cool outside (29 F), and the space heaters struggled to keep the cabin warm indoors, but we kept warm with blankets and layered clothing. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Hobby Horse was a wonderful "home away from home" for the week. The dogs had property to roam, plenty of ammentities in the house to never want to camp again, the the water access was amazing to go down and have coffee in the morning. Close enough for hiking, but out enough that youre not in the commotion of the big cities!Throughly enjoyed our stay!

Wonderful cabin in the woods

My husband and I spent three nights over our anniversary at the cabin and had such a relaxing, fun time. Everything was just as pictured and great location. The cabin is very comfortable and short drive from Bar Harbor and Acadia. Lots to do in the area. We hope to return again.

An amazing find

Such a cute spot to stay. Surry, Maine is a quiet small town and our VRBO was nestled in a small cluster of homes right up against Contention Cove. Two minute walk to the beach, all the necessary amenities will definitely make this a place to come back to!

Little chilly this time of year but space heaters did the trick. Cozy, rustic little cabin in the woods. We were quite comfortable and the location worked well for us. Liked the windows in the LR and charm/history of the place.

Perfect!

Even better than the listing! Well appointed with plenty of dishes and linens. Ocean access down the hill was wonderful. Great location for those going to Ellsworth and Acadia.
