About this property
Steps to Beach Access 32: Coastal Treehouse, Boat Parking, Beach Gear & 1 Pet OK
The Space This cottage stands apart from the standard Edisto Beach rental and is the one your group remembers well after checkout. Set beneath a dense, jungle-like canopy of historic live oaks and palmetto palms, this three bedroom two bathroom retreat offers genuine privacy and proximity to the Atlantic in equal measure. You are a three minute stroll—just 600 yards—to Beach Access 32. Because the property is positioned strategically near the shore, you can walk to the beach for the warm sand and salt air while your morning coffee is still hot. This is a space designed for those who value the quiet side of the island without sacrificing quick access to the water.
Where You Sleep Two queen bedrooms anchor the main floor, each bright and comfortably appointed for restful nights. The main queen bedroom features a classic coastal white shuttered headboard and soft, warm lighting. A dedicated kids bunk room with a twin over twin and trundle gives families space to spread out without compromise. To ensure the house is staged perfectly for your arrival, please communicate your preferred bed setup (2 Queens, 1 Queen and 2 Twins, or 2 Queens and 3 Twins) once your booking is confirmed. Two full bathrooms complete the layout, one featuring a walk in shower and the other a tub combo. An outdoor hot and cold rinse station handles the grit so nobody tracks the shoreline inside.
The Outdoor Experience The ground level distinguishes this property from every other home on the block. We have created a shaded downstairs entertainment lounge complete with a large black picnic style dining table, bar seating, a double swing, cornhole, bocce, and oversized Jenga. Hammock space is strung between the oaks for quiet afternoons. Above, two generous decks offer a morning coffee perch and a golden hour cocktail view. We encourage using both. While enjoying the outdoor space, keep an eye out for the local deer that frequently wander through the tree-lined yard.
Gear Already Here (The "Pro-Kit") Pack light because the essentials are handled. We provide high-quality beach chairs, umbrellas, and a Cool Cabana shade tent. For easier transport to the sand, we offer a specialized, heavy-duty large-wheeled aluminum wagon that easily handles the soft Edisto sand. You will also find fishing rods, a hammock, Micro scooters for the kids, riding toys, and beach towels waiting when you arrive. For dining, we provide a traditional Weber charcoal grill and a separate propane burner with a stock pot—perfect for a proper Lowcountry seafood boil under the trees.
The Neighborhood The location is highly walkable and near the heart of island life. Stroll over to Whaley’s when the appetite arrives or head to Bay Creek Park and the Edisto Marina for sunset. For a local tradition, the Edisto Island Lions Club Bingo starts at 6 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays just a short walk away. Public shoreline access and tidal creeks are all within easy reach. If you crave a city afternoon, historic downtown Charleston sits under an hour away with world-class dining and galleries worth the drive.
Boaters and Anglers This is the property you bring your vessel to. We offer generous boat trailer parking on-site with easy access to the marina and nearby tidal creeks. This area is famous for island hopping and coastal exploration. Chase redfish and trout at first light, then watch the sky shift colors from the water that evening.
Things to Know Linens: We provide a professional linen service including fresh sheets and bath towels tailored to your specific bed configuration.
Provisions: A starter kit with a roll of toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, and dish pods is provided to get you through your first night. Please bring your own pantry staples, toiletries, charcoal, laundry detergent, and extra paper products.
Check-in: Anytime after 4:00 PM via secure lockbox.
Pets: One small to medium dog is welcome with prior approval.
Parking: Room for up to four vehicles plus boat trailer accommodations. The primary driveway is accessed via Fort Street.
Why glowing reviews, our 'Guest Favorite' status tells the story. Visitors come back for the most comfortable beds they have encountered in a vacation home, the gear that covers every beach essential, and a private treehouse like setting that feels a world removed from the ordinary. Visitors do not merely stay here; they begin planning their next Edisto trip well before they leave.

Perfect place for us to vacation with my mom and our kids. Although about an hour or more from Charleston, it has perfect access to the beach and lovely nooks to kick back and relax.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Edisto. The Edisto Treehouse FEELS like a treehouse! It's quiet and charming. It's just a few blocks off the beach. We had a great time! We very much enjoyed our time!
The house was just perfect for our family and had everything one could think of when staying at the beach. Easy walk to the beach and so much fun playing games under the house. While we did not have any issues, the hosts were very attentive in case we did. We truly enjoyed our stay at Edisto!
The house and amenities were very nice. Very spacious 3 br, 2 ba. We had everything needed to cook and have fun downstairs. Short walk to the beach. The “sound” side of the island was tremendously calm water, great for me 2 yr old granddaughter who walked right into water. Will definitely be back and stay here.
This is a quintessential beach cottage. It is tastefully decorated and the space is used very wisely. They provided plenty of convenient items ranging from a fully stocked kitchen, beach items, games, and outdoor furniture. Plenty of natural light fills the home during the day. We enjoyed hanging out under the house swinging on the swing while the kids used the scooters. Outdoor shower was a big plus for us! Would definitely book again.
We especially enjoyed the outdoor areas of the house (eating breakfast on the deck upstairs and playing cards at the table downstairs at night). The house is on a quiet street and is a short walk to a part of the beach that is great for watching sunsets (due to being just west of the point). During the afternoon, we typically drove to beach access points a little further north due to the beach being wider there, but there is free, easy parking at most of the beach access points, and it's a very short drive.
Make sure you pay attention to what is and isn't included - you need to bring or rent your linens (rental was easy through Edisto Essentials).
We appreciated that the host provided info about recycling - there is a recycling center just down the road where you can drop it off (but it's only open two days a week).
We had a great stay and definitely recommend this spot!
This property was absolutely wonderful! The check in process was so easy! It said the property does not allow pets however she let us bring our sweet well behaved non shedding golden doodle for an extra fee to accommodate the family. Upon arrival, the “kids” room had blanket mermaid tails, tons of kid books, a few toys, and many board games that we all enjoyed playing on the rainy days! The kitchen was well equipped with cooking items for family home meals. The dryer quit working while we were down there and the host promptly texted me, sent a repair man out which was unable to repair it, so her husband drove over the next day to accommodate us with a working dryer! So many outside toys and beach toys available for us to use for the kids. We biked all over the island every day as well as visited the beach daily which is a very short walk. The porch is perfect, quiet, and private amongst many live Oaks. This was the perfect property on Edisto! Aimee even left a beautiful candle that smells amazing which was such a nice touch! I would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting Edisto!!
Great stay. House made the most of it space. Lots of room on decks and under the house for entertainment. Owner is gracious on the items they share (grills, beach items, corn hole, games) Will stay again.
A wonderful place to stay with great proximity to the beach. All the extras the house provides for the beach (umbrellas, chairs, etc) make it even more relaxing.
The outdoor shower was fabulous and definitely came in handy!
Hello & welcome! We’re a family of five based near Charleston, & we feel incredibly fortunate to spend so much time on Edisto Beach, a place we’ve fallen in love with over the years. There’s something truly special about the island—the quiet beaches, lush wildlife, & slow-paced lifestyle make it an ideal escape from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. Edisto isn’t just a vacation spot—it’s a place to connect, unwind, make lasting memories together.
Our children love biking along the trails, wandering the uncrowded beaches, & discovering wildlife at every turn. Climbing the historic live oaks, exploring the privacy berm around & enjoying the hammock are among their favorite ways to spend time outdoors. Watching them experience the freedom & adventure of Edisto reminds us why we cherish this island so deeply, & it inspired us to create a home that we can share with others seeking the same magic.
Our home was designed with versatility in mind, accommodating families, friends, or couples who want to enjoy the beauty of the island while staying connected. The outdoor decks, lounge areas, & open backyard provide spaces to unwind, play games, or share meals. The kitchen & outdoor cooking amenities, from the grill to the stock pot for Lowcountry boils, encourage gathering & making memorable meals.
We want every guest to feel welcome, comfortable, & inspired to create their own treasured memories. Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it captures the essence of authentic Edisto Beach living—quiet, private, and surrounded by nature, yet still part of a welcoming community. Our home sits on a peaceful dirt road, lined with majestic live oaks that create a canopy of shade & provide a serene, natural setting. Several full-time residents live nearby, giving the area a friendly, neighborhood feel while maintaining the privacy and tranquility that drew us to the island in the first place.
What we enjoy most about this neighborhood is the slower pace of life—the calm mornings, the sounds of birds and the breeze through the trees, and the chance to watch our kids bike, explore, or play safely outdoors. The uncrowded beaches are just a short walk away, making it easy to enjoy sun, surf, and wildlife without the hustle of busier areas. We love taking evening strolls along the dirt road, spotting crabs, birds, or small tidal pools, and simply soaking in the natural beauty of Edisto.
This location also offers the perfect balance between seclusion & accessibility. While it feels like a private retreat, we’re only minutes from local favorites like Whaley’s, Bay Creek Park, and the Marina, which gives us a convenient way to enjoy dining, shopping, and island activities. For our family, it’s the ideal combination of peace, connection with nature, and community, creating a space where we can relax, recharge, and fully embrace the laid-back, scenic, and family-friendly lifestyle that makes Edisto Beach so special.
What makes this property unique
Fort Myrtle stands out as a truly distinctive Edisto Beach retreat thanks to its historic live oak privacy berm, creating a natural sanctuary unlike anywhere else on the island. This shaded, tree-lined barrier provides both seclusion & space for adventure, making it ideal for kids to explore, climb, or simply lounge with a book while adults unwind with drinks or watch the sunset. The berm sets Fort Myrtle apart, offering an experience of quiet, private coastal living that is rare even on Edisto.
Beyond the unique landscape, the property is designed for multi-generational enjoyment. The spacious outdoor decks & downstairs lounge allow for gathering, entertaining, or just relaxing in comfort. Guests can enjoy games like cornhole, bocce, Jenga, or set up a hammock for ultimate leisure. The backyard area encourages both play & tranquility, providing flexibility for families, friends, or couples seeking a versatile escape.
With a Weber charcoal grill, propane burner, large stock pot, and a full complement of cooking utensils, guests can easily host a Lowcountry boil, cookout, or casual family meal outside. Beach excursions are equally effortless: the property provides beach towels, a Cool Cabana tent, umbrellas, chairs, wagons, and toys, so families can pack light & enjoy a carefree day by the ocean.
Another defining feature is the property’s proximity & convenience without compromising privacy. Just a few minutes’ walk to Beach Access 32, guests enjoy seclusion & accessibility, with local favorites like Whaley’s, Bay Creek Park, & the Marina close by.
The blend of historic charm, natural beauty, versatile outdoor living, and family-centered amenities ensures every stay is memorable. Guests consistently praise its peaceful atmosphere, thoughtful design, and unique spaces. It’s ideal for creating memories, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying the unhurried, scenic island lifestyle that only Edisto Beach can offer.
