Wonderful beach front stay

The location of the house was amazing, easy to get to secluded and an amazing view. Very short walk down the stairs to the beach. The beach is large and very clean. The deck on the house was amazing and the sunset is out of this world. Interior was very nice and clean, beds were very comfortable and the house had everything you need in it. Worth stay here.

Beautiful house and location. Beach was gorgeous, views of Cape Cod Bay and P’Town. Downside was loooong stairs to beach, house is on a high bluff. The deck alone was worth the price of admission. Home owners and maintenance manager very helpful and responsive

Spacious and spectacluar location and view

We (6 adults, 4 kids) thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The Queen Anne's lace wild flower field at the same level as deck added more beauty to the bay view. The reason why we did not give five stars for cleanliness was that the house was not thoroughly vacuumed, and we saw some dust and sand at the nook here and there.

Family reunion

We had a wonderful family reunion in Truro! The house is "as advertized"--spacious, light, well-appointed, gorgeous views, a relaxing place to hang out and cook. Contact with the owner was easy, and Ernie was very responsive. We had as many as twelve people during our stay, and everyone was very comfortable. The location is spectacular. The access to the beach is easy. Other great attractions in the Provincetown/Truro area are a very short distance away. I would absolutely recommend this property, especially for larger groups. Our meals around the large table were memorable.

Cape Cod Truro Vacation

We stayed at this property with 4 other couples. The house is in a great location (although very narrow street to get to it). The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. The furniture in the great room could certainly be updated - the couches were very low and uncomfortable. The outside of the house needs some maintenance - which appears to be in progress.

The couches you found wanting are, in fact, like most of the furniture in the common areas, top-of-the-line Restoration Hardware products that are featured in their current catalogues for summer homes.

Mis fire on arrival.

The cleaners did not know we were arriving and had not cleaned the place in over a month. We had to do laundry the first night before we could even use all the beds. Not enought clean towels, and basically no kitchen supplies at all. Also the entry code on VRBOs instructions is wrong so we were locked out in the dark for a while on a cold rainy night. Had to clean the floors ourselves before we could enjoy the common areas. And the host is not even offering to refund the cleaning fee. Other than that it was great.

We pride ourselves on the services we provide to renters as well as the outstanding caliber of the house. 1) The house was thoroughly cleaned and all the beds made with clean sheets after the previous renters left by the outstanding cleaning service we’ve used for years without any complaints. One of our caretakers inspected the house before this renter’s arrival and reported that it was clean. The renter’s only email to us on the first day began with an exclamation that “the house is beautiful.” It included a comment about the cleaners having missed one of the floors that they had swept, but the writer’s tone implied it wasn’t a problem. The next day the renter emailed us that one of the beds had “un-fresh” sheets that needed to be washed. This complaint made no sense, since they could simply have taken fresh sheets from one of the many other beds in our 7-bedroom home that they were not using, but we sent a 3-person cleaning crew to the house by early that afternoon with instructions to clean and wash whatever the renters wanted done. When the cleaners arrived, the renter refused to let them in to see what they had allegedly missed and to make it right. The renter’s complaints escalated over the next several days until they turned into the more serious and extensive allegations in this review, with demands for compensation. We have offered him $250, which is more than generous, given that he did not give us an opportunity to see and correct the alleged problem. We were left with no way of knowing which, if any, of the escalating complaints were valid, since neither our caretaker (who was present when this party moved in and again the next morning ) nor our cleaners were alerted or shown anything that was dirty. In a spirit of good will and to maintain our “spotless” reputation, we offered the renter a $250 refund. 2. The renter was provided the correct entry code and reminded to use it in three separate emails in the weeks before his arrival. He thanked us for one of these emails, so he read it, but apparently did not bring the correct entry code with him and tried to use an expired VRBO code that he had been warned had been changed for security reasons. The renter was momentarily inconvenienced before our caretaker, who always checks in when renters arrive, appeared and let them in. 3. Our kitchen is generously stocked with all sorts of cooking utensils, pots, pans, two Cusinarts, hand and stand mixers, most basic cooking ingredients, and an extensive range of spices. The renter correctly informed the caretaker the day they arrived that the kitchen did not have sufficient paper towels, laundry detergent or garbage bags, which should have been left by the cleaning crew. These items were promptly delivered the next morning. The renter also asked for aluminum foil that was also supplied. 4. The renter was furnished with 17 towels for the 10 people in his party. He wanted double that number. The additional towels were provided the next day.

Excellent accommodations for family of 11.

Such a beautiful home, overlooking the ocean! Incredible sunsets and easy beach access, but if a person has mobility issues, they will have difficulty. So many bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate all of us. We had great spaces for conversations and gathering, but plenty of space for private time. We drove the short distance into Provincetown and enjoyed many of the retail shops and restaurants. We cooked one night in the spacious kitchen. The master bedroom is fabulous and like others have commented, the windows do not have blinds so it can get bright early, but we didn't mind. The spiral staircase leading to this particular bedroom can be precarious with luggage, but we managed and again, it didn't dim our overall opinion. The owner Ernie is a great communicator and answered my various questions about the area & house. Check in instructions were extensive, as well as check out. We would definitely pick this specific home again.

Idyllic Vacation Home

In sum: wonderful house, gorgeous view, spacious beach and family friendly environment. We love staying in houses that are actual homes, especially ones designed for intergenerational gatherings, such as ours. The layout allows for guests to be together in large or small groups, and the bedroom wings permit separation of families for privacy and noise management. The kitchen is very well stocked with expansive counter space, which is helpful for feeding large numbers of people. There is a ton of storage space throughout the house. The family room furniture is low to the ground, soft- edged, sturdy and comfortable. Our grandsons (ages 2, 3, and 6) could easily climb on the pillow stuffed couches and use the low coffee table. The large, easily accessed deck was lovely. We could seat ten plus our highchair at the outdoor table, gather in small groups in the comfortable seating area, and/or read on lounge chairs shaded by an umbrella. The numerous and continuous windows and glass doors kept the living spaces bright (bring eye shades for the bedrooms) and the sweeping panorama always in view. Note: this house has lots of healthy stairs inside and down to the beach. One small negative: a few of the amenities did not work well but were functional. Overall, this is an exceptional and memorable property. Thanks, Ernie and Anne!

Fabulous View and Location!

We spent a week here with extended family. The house is very spacious with three separate bedroom areas allowing for privacy. The kitchen is well stocked and there is plenty of seating indoors and out. We loved the spectacular view and short walk down stairs to the beach. No need to get a beach pass and pack up the car to go to the beach. The rooms were spacious. Each bedroom has a great view and/or access to a deck or balcony. The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed watching rabbits and a fox on the property as well as finding wild blackberries, beach plums and blueberries on and near the house. There was a broken blind when we arrived. The property manager came the same day to replace it. The house could have been cleaner which I didn’t communicate to the owner until after we left. He apologized and said he would address this with the cleaning company. It was great to be able to bring our dogs but we did have to be careful waking them due to a lot of poison ivy and ticks in and around the property. However a landscaper did come treat the poison ivy while we were there. (This is a natural part of Cape Cod) Overall this was a fantastic rental and a great value in an amazing location. We hope to return soon!

Not up to expectations

The house photo is misleading as in fact the house has been moved back, away from the cliff as a result of beach erosion. The house is tired and in need of updating/repair--for example: the kitchen frig essentially did not work despite having called the property manager and being advised that "we had too much in the frig"??...the outdoor grill had no propane...when the propane was delivered and connected to the grill, it leaked gas rendering the grill un-useable... the property manager promptly replaced the grill...a bathroom faucet handle sheered off and was not attended to...with only one dishwasher and one washer and drier. this house has infrastructure to support 8 people at most. The grounds are not maintained which is a shame as a nice backyard is a possibility with a bit of care. The television in the master bedroom was nonfunctional. A lot of money and not a lot of value.
Response from VrboOwner on 22 Mar 2020
Almost everyone who visits our Truro beach home describes it as stunningly beautiful, with gorgeous vistas; we have many repeat clients. This reviewer usually rents houses twice the size of ours in places like the Hamptons for his 30 person group. Our house sleeps 16. Not surprisingly, our “infrastructure” fell short of his expectations. The house is not “tired.” The furniture is high-end and mostly new. Some sofas are 12-months old Restoration Hardware; others are spotless leather. The dining table is an antique library table that is neither tired nor in need of repair. The kitchen was completely renovated and updated with new cabinets and appliances in 2011. We understand it is frustrating when appliances break and strive to prevent this by regular maintenance. We respond as quickly as possible to unexpected problems. The outdoor grill broke during this tenant’s usage, but we replaced it the same day. The 18mo old fridge loaded to capacity didn’t cool everything immediately. We sent the first available technician, and provided the tenant with another fridge downstairs. The problem was that someone in his group had tampered with the settings. The broken faucet is part of a floating vanity and not a stock item that is quickly replaced, but there is a second functioning basin right next to it. The house has 3 TVs, including a new 55” Samsung in the living room. A new 42” flat TV in the master bedroom had a reception problem that could have been fixed with a call to the cable provider number on the unit. The yard is professionally landscaped with beach grass and native plantings. It is not a suburban lawn, because that is not the aesthetic we have chosen. We have a gardener. The house is on the water; it is beachfront property. There are dramatic views of Cape Cod Bay and the hook of the Cape from almost every window: You walk from the house, across the yard, down stairs to the beach. The photos are accurate. For all his complaints, this tenant told us, when we called him to understand better the bases of his review: “Don’t get me wrong. We had a wonderful time at your beach house.” This is what we hope all our quests will say. We try to do our part by providing a beautiful, well-kept, tastefully appointed home that is well-cared for by a team of thoughtful maintenance and repair people who typically respond to problems quickly and effectively. We regret that this reviewer was not satisfied with our good faith efforts.

Gorgeous view and beach access

The house is large with numerous spaces to hang out in together or alone which worked well for our group of 4 siblings with spouses and kids (total of 12). The back deck is fabulous and we hung out there quite a bit. There are numerous bedrooms- each with their pros and cons. The bottom level rooms tended to be cold; the largest primary bedroom has an amazing view but no room darkening shades and no door (it’s at the top of a circular stair like a loft); the 2 bedrooms on the top floor tended to be warm. Many of these issues were surmountable using with supplied fans and heaters. It would be nice if there were room darkening shades both for the primary bedroom and for the main living room areas, which get warm from direct sun with no way to block. Several of the windows and 1 screen door were not functional. The kitchen is large and has most everything you could need. We cooked successfully on several evenings and used the outside grill. The biggest issue for our group was that several of us have dog allergies and it appears the owner has a dog. This info needs to be front and center so people with allergies can be forewarned! Despite the issues mentioned above the house worked well for us and we enjoyed ourselves. There is easy access to the beach on the bay side and the house has beach chairs and boogie boards. We love N. Truro and had a great time. Thanks.

Gorgeous views, great location, and a beautiful space to spend time with friends.

We rented the house for 5 days to get away, and invited 3 friends to join us. The house did not disappoint! The views are breathtaking, even on a cold day in the fall, and the house is big enough that we all played games and ate meals together but could get some privacy for some downtime too. Ernie was completely responsive to any questions, and his house has everything a guest could possibly need.
