Beautiful secluded Umbrian Farmhouse with Pool, mature gardens and grounds

Casa la Selva is ideal for those looking for a relaxing break in the heart of Italy. Located on the border of Tuscany and Umbria, overlooking a quiet valley, with no near neighbours, Casa la Selva is perfect for getting away from it all. There are five attractive bedrooms, three bathrooms, two spacious and comfortable living rooms, a large, traditional and well equipped kitchen/dining room and a utility room.
Outside there is a private swimming pool (10mx5m) and large established gardens surrounded by countryside. Casa La Selva is available for private rentals, of one week or more for up to 10 people, throughout the year.

Olive Room: Double bed, French doors to roof terrace.
Tower Room: Double bed, French doors to roof terrace.
Corner Room: Double or twin beds.
Garden Room: Double or 3 single beds, access to garden.

Kitchen: Well equipped, spacious kitchen with marble worktops, includes: gas hob, 90cm oven, microwave, double sink, dishwasher, fridge, coffee maker, kettle, pasta maker, blender and a meat-slicer. Original stone arch leads through to large dining room. There is also a large utility room containing double laundry sink, washing machine, ironing board, a second large fridge/freezer and re-cycling bins.
Sitting Rooms: There are two sitting rooms, both with wood burning stoves. One room has Playstation 2 and TV, along with a selection of games and DVDs. The other has a CD player with selection of CDs and a number of books, board games and children's toys. There is also a portable Bluetooth speaker.
A shaded loggia with large dining table overlooking the gardens. Perfect for lunch on a hot day. Also a play table and chairs for young children.
There are two roof terraces with fantastic views over the valley in daytime, or the starry skies at night.

Perfect stay

We had a perfect stay at a unique place. Beside the comfortable and perfectly equipped house the complete silence deep in the ‘selva’ was impressive. We completely enjoyed and would come back at any time.

Aaaaah, bliss!

So good I never go anywhere else now, La Selva is everything it promises to be - and much more. Locanda Nonna Gelsa's cooking is to die for. The location of the villa is absolutely tranquil, and the towns in the region provide everything expected of Tuscany/Umbria. I would recommend a holiday here to anyone - so long as they don't book when I want to go!

Family vacation at Casa la Selva

This was our first family vacation in Italy and we were not at all disappointed. Casa la Selva is a beautiful rural property in a very peaceful location. The house is gorgeous and beautifully restored and large enough to accommodate our family of 10 comfortably. The pool and grounds are very well kept. Phillip, the property manager, was very courteous and kind to us from the start of our vacation to the end. He made us feel right at home. September vacation

We had a great stay at this spacious villa. It is very well equipped with everything you possibly might need during your stay and just as well suited for vacation with as without children. It is quite a bit up the mountain on a bumpy road, so might not want to have to small of a car to get here. Lots of well kept surrounding nature and nothing that disturbs you in the beautiful surroundings. Contact with the owner as well as the on-site manager (Philip) was very simple and quick in respons. We are overall very satisfied with our stay here, as well as with the booking process and information provided. Recommended for rental in the area.

Spacious farmhouse in very rural setting on the hills. Beautiful pool and gardens.

Very spacious and well equipped house for 9 of us. Lovely pool and gardens with terraces to enjoy the view and stars. Our 2 year old loved the toys and games provided. The gardens were alive with beautiful butterflies feasting on the lavender. We saw wild boar on the track up to the house. The house is up a very long gravel road winding up into the hills. We loved its remoteness, but this might not suit everyone. Glorious area for visiting local towns, but so lovely by the pool we didn’t venture out very often!

Very nice

We had a nice stay in the house. The house is very well equipped with everything you need for a stay with children and toddlers. The way to the house through a 5 kilomenetr long gravel road is a bit long, so you shouldn't forget anything when shopping.The area is very idyllic, but due to the location in the forest there are a lot of bugs at the pool that also bite, so that the bathing fun was a bit clouded. Communication was great. We were met on arrival by someone at an agreed location who escorted us to the house, which was not so easy to find.

Family holiday in Italy

The house and gardens were beautiful. The large pool and lovely terraces were great. Nice welcome from Philip on site and all amenities as expected. However, we were taken aback by the access road which was difficult to navigate for our low saloon cars (Alfa Romeo Giulia in particular). An SUV would have been more appropriate but we were not warned of that in advance. We also had to replace 3 lightbulbs for the outside lights so we could actually see each other in the evening. An exytra parasol or 2 by the pool would have been appreciated to get a little more shade from the heat. Overall we did have a wonderful family holiday.

Die Anfahrt zum Haus wird entschädigt durch ein wirklich großartiges Gebäude welches liebevoll restauriert wurde. In der Küche fehlt es an nichts , der Pool ist sehr groß und für groß und klein perfekt. Wir haben unseren Urlaub dort sehr genossen und können dieses Objekt ganz klar empfehlen.

Mooi karakteristiek huis met fijn veel vertrekken om te zijn en verblijven, van alles voorzien, en natuurlijk een heerlijk zwembad. Je kiest voor een afgelegen plek met absolute privacy. Neem in de zomer wel anti-insectenspray mee voor buiten (binnen in het huis geen last van).

Endroit reculé de tout avec toutes les commodités nécessaires, de enceinte Bluetooth au nécessaire pour bébé en passant par 2 frigos. Extérieur magnifique avec piscine magnifique et maison très typée. Un vrai coin de paradis où nos 2 familles ont pu chacune trouver leur espace dans cette grande maison. Ne pas hésitez!!!

Wahnsinnig schönes Haus

Das Haus bietet alles was man für 10 Personen benötigt. Der Pool ist toll, die Ruhe genial. Man muss 5 km weisse Straße fahren ... wie für uns gewöhnlichen in dieser Region.... Aber es war eine tolle Urlaubslocation und wir überlegen uns schon, nochmals hinzufahren.

Schönes Idyll

Das Haus ist in einer wild romantischen Region gelegen um abzuschalten aber auch für Exkursionen in Umbrien und die Toskana liegt es sehr zentral. Man sollte jedoch nicht außer Acht lassen, das die abgelegene Lage eine längere An/Abfahrt über White Roads ca. 20 Minuten bis zum Erreichen der Hauptstraße benötigt. Es verfügt über alle notwendigen Accessoires die man für einen Aufenthalt benötigt. Das Haus ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, daher auch nicht unbedingt auf dem aktuellen technischen Stand und ein gewisser Reparaturstau ersichtlich ist (Sanitäre Bereiche). Der Außenbereich und das Pool sind in einem Top Zustand. Wir waren zu 9 Personen und hatten immer das Gefühl, dass es genügend Platz für alle gab. Alles Zusammen kann ich die Location empfehlen. :-)

Perfekter Urlaub für unsere Gruppe

Tolles Haus und Pool, perfekt um zu entspannen. Es war wirklich alles vorhanden und der großzügige Pool ein Traum gerade bei den heissen Temperaturen. Man kann einiges in der Umgebung unternehmen, jedoch war uns die Fahrt über die Schotterstraße meist zu beschwerlich, was uns aber aufgrund der tollen Lokalität nicht gestört hat. Man hat genügend Rückzugsorte im Haus und Garten, so dass jeder genügend Freiraum hat. Einzig die Bäder könnten teilweise eine Erneuerung vertragen. Kommen gerne wieder. Kommunikation mit Vermieter und Verwalter war top.

Traumhaft schön

Wir verbrachten mit der Großfamilie zwei unbeschreiblich schöne Wochen. Das Haus, die Umgebung, der Pool einfach traumhaft. Unkomplizierte und freundliche Betreuung vor Ort. Uns hat es nicht gestört, dass der Anfahrtsweg lang und etwas holprig war...es hat sich wirklich gelohnt. Ein Ort, den man nie vergisst und gerne wieder besuchen möchte. Danke, dass wir dies erleben durften.

We enjoyed our stay at Matt’s property. He and Philip were extremely easy to work with. The home itself is very clean and quite large. It is situated within a 2-2.5 hr drive from Florence or Rome. My only complaint is the lack of a clothes dryer, but I understand many homes don’t have dryers in Italy. There were 2 long clothes lines and many clothes pins on which to dry clothes, so I utilized those. We would recommend this home to anyone who wants to leave the hustle and bustle of large cities. It’s easy to relax and take in the scenery when you’re 15 minutes up a mountain road. Lovely!

sehr schönes Haus mit Pool für die perfekte Auszeit

Wir haben hier zu fünft Familienurlaub mit erwachsenen Kindern gemacht und waren rundum zufrieden, Das Anwesen liegt sehr schön und ist sehr gepflegt, mit einem perfekten und sehr sauberen Pool. An 3 kühlen Abenden haben wir den Ofen abgeheizt, Holz stand zur Verfügung und wir haben im Garten noch selber welches gesammelt. Sehr genossen haben wir die sehr großzügige und hervorragend ausgestattete Küche mit Essbereich. Es ist genug Platz für 10 Personen zum gemeinsamen Kochen, Essen und gemütlich Zusammenzusein. In 2 Wohnzimmern gab es genug Bücher, Spiele und Technik zur Freizeitgestaltung. (Das meiste in englischer Sprache.) Wir haben uns prächtig erholt bei der absoluten Ruhe in der Umgebung und sehr gut geschlafen in den Betten. Die Anfahrt erfogt mit GPS-Koordinaten und nach Matts Afahrtsskizze- absolut machbar. Auf der Kiespiste ist ein bisschen fahrerisches Können gefragt. Für Italienliebhaber und -kenner aber absolut normal. Die Ausstattung im Haus ist sensationell. Hier hat nichts gefehlt, da wir schon seit mehr als 15 Jahren auf diese Art Urlaub machen und man hat immer was vermißt: Hier war ALLES vorhanden! :-) Sogar Gewürze, Backutensilien, Küchenausstattung. Sehr gefallen hat uns die Spülmaschine. Man sitzt nach dem Essen schneller wieder im Garten. ;-) In der Aussenanlage gibt es zusätzlich Möglichkeiten zum Essen und auch im Wintergarten. Am Pool ausreichend Liegen und Spielzeug für Kinder. Handtücher sind ausreichend vorhanden und mitelgroße Handtücher für den Pool. Man könnte Waschen- Waschmaschine und Ständer mit Klammern, sogar ein Steamer, Bügeleisen und - brett sind vorhanden, wenn man länger Urlaub macht. Wir selbst haben wenig Support benötigt, aber Philipp steht telefonisch und persönlich mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Einkaufen - im angezeigten Coop - sehr gut! Die Pizza im Eingangsbereich der Mall: riesig - eine für 4 Personen ausreichend und sehr große Auswahl. Unser LieblingsCafe/ Bar/ Bistro in Verna auf der Hauptstrasse (rechte Seite von Umbertide kommend) "Cose Dolce": Sensationelle Kuchenstücke (nicht nur Brioche) und Eis sowie hervorragenden Espresso und Cappuccino zur absolut günstigsten Preisen. Kinderspielplatz im Aussenbereich , innen klimatisiert und sehr nette Inhaberschaft. Wir waren begeistert. FAZIT: Umgebung, Haus und Pool: Absolute Empfehlung! Danke an Matt und Phillip für den super Support und diese wunderbare Urlaubserfahrung!
