About this property
Charming holiday cottage with shared heated outdoor pool, large garden & BBQ
Nestling in the spectacular Monts D'Ambazac (Limousin, Haute Vienne) and set on the edge of the beautiful historic village of Grandmont, Grandmont Gites offers two charming, stylish and cosy gites providing the perfect getaway for anyone wishing to explore this part of France.
Grandmont Gites is a chameleon in years gone by. Originally a hostel, later a hotel, bar & brasserie and at one time even, a pumping station!.
To this day Gite Les Arbres (a period French cottage) retains the charm and character of its heyday as the former bar & brasserie where locals and passersby congregated for chatting, drinking, eating and dancing.
In fact, the original bar which still remains has been the resting place for many a French elbow of residents among us this very day.
Designed across ground floor level Les Arbres sleeps 4-5 guests. A cosy long lounge from the entrance leads to the kitchen which is well equipped for everything you need to self-cater. In turn, this leads to a large dining area with both bedrooms leading off. The master bedroom leads to the private patio. The second bedroom has two single beds.
You may also be interested in our other gite, Les Fleurs, which sleeps 4 guests and is ideal for couples sharing or a small family.
Our facilities include:
- onsite free parking
- shared heated outdoor pool (chlorinated) open from July to September
- outdoor table tennis and trampoline
- winter rental from late September to early June
Nearby is the medieval town of Ambazac with places to eat, shop and sightsee including the towns' charming 13th Century church - home to two of the regions' most precious relics.
Limoges city is approx 25 mins drive, popular for its arts and crafts, theatres and museums, bars, eateries, boutiques etc.
Lac Saint Pardoux is 15 mins drive and provides a beach-in-reach. Packed with all kinds of water sports and year round activities - it's a great place to keep the family entertained.
The area of Grandmont is surrounded by lakes for fishing and swimming, with endless forest trails and stunning scenery.

About the host
Hosted by Louise and James Hampson

We explored the depths of France in search of the perfect spot to set up home and business. We found it here in Grandmont.
As a holiday and winter rental business Grandmont Gites has thrived since its conception in 2008, regularly scoring full marks on TripAdvisor.
Our Gites are charming, stylish and cosy and we pride ourselves in accommodating guests with holidays to treasure.
We reside from the UK South West England and have been planning our move to France for some years now. We fell in love with Grandmont on-the-spot, immediately recognising it for the special place it is. The idea of making it our new home and lifestyle was a no-brainer and at Olympian speed, was planted firmly in our hearts. Who could possibly resist being surrounded by such incredible beauty? Acres of lush green forest and luminous lakes. Cottages built of stone with wooden beams and cosy log burners. A scenic pool setting with a garden that stretches as far as the eye can see. Not to mention heaps to do here on the doorstep and a little further afield.
We were, and remain to the day, blown away.
It’s no surprise to us Grandmont Gites has been booked all year round for the past five years thanks both to its stunning backdrop and the quality of these three charming, stylish and cosy gites.
What we bring to Grandmont...
James is a highly experienced carpenter and Louise a qualified interior designer and communications manager. Before moving to France we worked side by side installing over 40 bespoke kitchens across the South West of England over the course of a year.
Together we're enthusiastic cooks and passionate party hosts so we’re truly excited by the many opportunities Grandmont Gites affords us.
Most of all, we are enjoying sharing what Grandmont has to offer our guests and providing them holidays to treasure. Along the way, we hope to learn more about them too!
