House At The Point - Rustic Cottage on Ocean's Edge
Enjoy this simple, OFF THE GRID rustic cabin that sits just 50 feet from the ocean between Burnt Cove and Crockett Cove. This private and quiet deep water setting has stunning panoramic views but is still close to the neighborhood convenience store, hardware store, gas station and village. Perfect area for writers, artists and those seeking simple living for their vacation getaway.
While there is no electricity or landline, there is a gas fridge, stove top (no oven) and lights. There are 5 propane lights in the cottage. There are solar lights upstairs in the sleeping area. A wonderful pink granite fireplace provides heat for the occasional chilly evening. Please note: Mindful use of water is important. Drinking water is available from the public spigot at nearby Burnt Cove Market. This is a one-of-a-kind Maine coast getaway in an outstanding setting.

We had the most amazing time at this little cabin. Great trips are made by their location and this cabin has the most incredible location. We will definitely stay here again!
gorgeous spot w nearby grocery store w anything you may need. The Gas Lighting is modern and safe and gives a wonderful cozy glow. View is nearly panoramic, would go again
The sights and sounds surrounding House on the Point were absolutely stunning! We loved the house! Comfy and cozy, can relax on the deck, candlelight dinners, fireplace evenings. No TV was great! We played games and read a good book together! They have plenty of games and books in the house. Also All you need for cooking!
We hope to come back soon!!
The cabin is right on the ocean. It couldn't be closer. At high tide it's just a few steps from the deck onto the pink granite rocks if you like to swim or kayak. Even the beds in the loft have a view of the ocean through the top windows. I appreciate the gas lamps, which have a warm glow when cooking at night and reading. Simple, clean, beautiful. Feels like a family cabin rather than an impersonal rental. You're also only a few minutes from Aragosta at Goose Cove, the restaurant, in the next cove--you could kayak there. And a ferry ride to Isle au Haut, part of the Acadia National Park, is also a must-see. Deeply relaxing time.

Beautiful Location!
The cleanliness rating was due to the fact that the cottage was not cleaned upon our arrival. We brought our own sheets, and towels, so we told them that we would clean up the cottage, and they did refund us some money. The spot was breathtakingly beautiful, and the cottage overall was great. It was just an unfortunate way to start a vacation.
Peaceful, beautiful, and like walking into your home, a very comfortable cabin.
Loved the fact it was off grid, gas lights and a fireplace, no internet some cell service.
The town was very quaint, what you would expect on an island.
A grocery store not far from the cabin.
My friend and I are planning on going back again next year.
Great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Maine coast
My husband and I loved every minute of our time at the house at the point. It is as presented - not fancy but homey and comfortable and relaxing. Perfect for a getaway vacation. Lobsters were 5$ at the point and the coffee and treats at 44 North a lot of fun. Don't pass up a loaf of bread from Tinderhearth bakery. It is inspirational and beyond words. We hope to return soon.
Enjoyed a family get together at House at the Point. Had everything we needed and no TV. Loved the disconnect. Went to bed with the sunset and arose with the sunrise. The town of Stonington is great. Great place to get away from the crowds.
My old dog and I just soaked up this wonderful, simple camp. The location is spectacular. It felt like a step back in time when Maine, and life, was simpler. The cabin I loved, as did my friends who came to visit. Wonderful to cook in the kitchen with the sun pouring in the windows and the view of the water. Very much look forward to going back.
This home is exactly as pictured right by the ocean! For us it was a dream to experience the simple beauty of this place and it's surrounding. And an adventure to be off the grid!
It was cold the first night and the fireplace is an advantage to sit cuddled up around it. Its not radiating far into the room. There is lots of wood in the shed though. The gas lamps are perfect to extend the evening. And it's a simple rural place, with some old rusty baking equipment. I felt at times traveling back in time. Spotty cell phone excess and nothing than your own car to charge it.
It has a toilet & shower indoors, even a new refrigerator and freezer! A great stove. We ate home most days, and it was so convenient to have the Burned Marked nearby, just a fee min. by car. The deck is were we spend most days- sitting at the dock of the bay, watching the tide... The sun was hot, when the breeze stopped- it's probably good to get an umbrella. There are 4 outdoor chairs and some beach chairs. And you can find shade around the house. There are some beautiful trails nearby and the house is filled with info. More a practical, than an artistic home.
At first I was not so sure what I will get into- the emails I got were mainly rules and regulations and punishment payments. This almost turned me away not to come. I could not reach anyone via email. In the end I'm very happy we came.
The fog horn- I guess is beeping every few sec. day & night. This can be a little annoying. Though the beauty and treasure of this place by the sea makes up for it.
We had a great stay and enjoyed going to sleep with the sun and waking up to the distant sound of lobster boats departing. The kids (6 and 9) loved exploring the rocks out front at different tides. We formed some great memories and hope to be back someday!
Had a wonderful time here in this peaceful location. Perfect for anyone wanting a quiet and relaxing vacation. Took a trip to Acadia which was within driving distance. Lots of places to hike on the island and loved the lobsters across the bay at fiefield lobster. They are great if you stay here be sure to check them out. Very simple quiet vacation, away from it all which was nice. Found the people who live on the island to be super friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely be back for the donuts at the little gas station. If you do t mind being self sufficient this is a great place to relax and get away.
We had an excellent stay and relived many memories from past vacations. One big change was a well which was a positive difference from the tank/cistern. The only thing that was not communicated was whether or not the water was safe to drink, so we purchased water.
