Welcome to Hipp's Hideaway On Tiger Cat Cove -- a stunning lakefront 3-bedroom 3-bath vacation home on 2 wooded acres near Hayward, Wisconsin.
HERE ARE 5 REASONS to rent this place -- and 3 REASON you shouldn't ! COME................................ due to our: 1) LOCATION: 13 minutes from the action Hayward... Secluded feel (QUIET, can't see neighbors from our decks, ) 2 variously wooded acres to explore... great place to walk or bike from... close to boat ramp! Great views of island from cabin & decks. 2) TIGER CAT LAKE: Great fishing, canoeing/kayaking or pontoon exploration! Swimmable sand bottom shoreline -- natural setting with CLEAR water year 'round. Part of the 1300 acre Tiger Cat Flowage -- a chain of 6 lakes you can canoe/kayak and boat to: Burns, Placid are closest, plus smaller boats can get under bridge to Upper & Lower Twin + McClain. Great fun in exploring the chain. (We call it the Wisconsin Everglades!) Lots of wildlife -- and very little invasive species or algae issues ! 3) THE HOUSE: 2100 square feet indoors on two levels.... Upper level is even with driveway with large family room with dining table and fully stocked eat in kitchen all in one area... There are 2 bedrooms on main level. The master suite has a king log bed with an oversized bathtub and seperate shower in bathroom, while the queen guestroom has easy access to the common area bathroom across the hall. There is natural fireplace in the upper family room and a gas fireplace in the lower family room. The lower level boasts a QUEEN bunkbed, another bathroom with shower, a laundry room leading to the game/movie room with a bar area. Views continue on the 20x40 walkout deck with a swing, picnic table, and room for your bean bag game ! The lower deck spills down to the a firepit area and steps to the lake. Lakeside there is another firepit and dockside sitting area -- and a double dock for your boating/swimming pleasure. 4) THE AREA ==> Close to Birkie Trails (XC Ski, Snowshoe, ATV, Snowmobile, etc!) plus all the tourist action in Hayward, Cable, & Stone Lake. Great restaurants abound as well! 5) THE AMMENITIES==> AC, Fireplaces both real and gas, Internet, Washer/Dryer. Large turn-around driveway / good parking. Easy access to boat ramp and Snowmobile Trail 14 and 18. (ATV trails nearby -- with gravel road access).
DON'T COME IF==> 1) You can't do steps (unless you just want to chill in northwoods from upper deck!) We have 63 meandering (not steep!) steps to lake. See photos and decide for yourself! We are not handicapped accessible, but there are only 5 steps to upper deck and upper level of house -- and we have been able to host physically challenged individuals if they can work around those parameters :) 2) You have more than 8 people or want to party. It's a quiet cove -- need to blend in so you can hear the loon and frog concerts at night ! Plus we have a friendly agreement with our neighbors and want to keep it that way . . . 3) You have animals. Due to allergies and neighbor agreements we cannot allow even small cute well behaved ones, sorry.

Thanks for coming back— we love repeat tenets:) Glad you had a great stay and connected with the natural beauty of the surroundings ! Love to have you come back again next year.
Thx! Glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back for Fall Fest, a Color Tour, Fishing, Golf or an ATV trip before the snow flies … or try snowmobiling, xc skiing, snowshoeing or just chillin’ in the winter!
Beautiful property on a beautiful lake. Cabin had everything we needed. It was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. We will definitely be back!
We had an amazing 4 days at Hipp’s Hideaway. Very comfortable for 6 of us. So many amenities and details to make the stay fun and easy. The lake is clean and gorgeous, we loved using the canoes/kayaks to explore. Very few bugs even! We were able to relax and enjoy each others company. Perfect family vacation. My only regret is that we didn’t rent it for a full week.
Hipp’s Hideaway is a what a small slice of heaven looks like. My family and I had an amazing time there. There was amazing fishing, right off the dock, tons of water toys, very little lake traffic. It felt like we had the lakes to ourselves. The cabin itself had such a warm ambience it felt like home. They have tons of board games and movies for those family fun nights! All the kitchen utilities you could want for great family dinners! Just an all around great place!

Thank you for your kind words, Jon. You captured the “feel” we were going for perfectly! Glad you made good use of all our lake toys and firepits. And— thanks for leaving the place so clean! Come again… We loved having you. Try a fall/winter stay, too! We are right on Snowmobile Trail 18.
This was our second stay at Hipp's Hideaway, and as before, this home was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped. Shawn has thought of everything! The bed was super comfortable, and the common areas very spacious. Our grandkids really enjoyed the kayaks and swim pad. The owners were very responsive when contacted, too, which was much appreciated.

Thanks Beth! We love repeat renters. Glad you got good use out of our kayaks and float mats! We have some beginner SUPs now, too— always looking for fun lake things to add to our “fleet”. Come again please!
We had 8 people on our trip, our kids ranged from 6-19, and everyone had a great time. Enjoyed the downstairs hang out for the older kids. Really loved the balcony and the fire pit area - we spent a lot of time there. Great fishing! Oh, and the king size bed in the master was so comfortable - I rarely sleep well away from home, but had no problem here we were just bummed the paddle boat wasn't there for us to use!

Wow- glad we coukd check alot of boxes for you :) What a great age range 9- 19 plus adults! We are always expanding outer upper firepit area as we love hanging there, too. Sorry about the paddle boat— it sank and created more problems than it was worth. We are looking for an updated model though— good info to hear that it’s in demand.
Great location, great home, great host. The cabin was cozy, had all the basics that we needed and a wonderful view of the water. We were ATVing while we stayed at this home. Trails were relatively close by and the driveway had plenty of room to load and unload the rigs. Even caught a couple fish off the dock. We enjoyed our visit.

Great to hear -- thanks for your supportive ATV comments. We get alot of questions about ATVing from our getaway. Glad to hear you made it work. Come back again -- and I'll reach out to you for more details.
Really enjoyed our time at this house! Especially the outdoor areas with the multiple fire pits, dock, and boats!

Glad you liked the newly improved outdoor areas, plus the canoes/kayaks and floatmats! We try to keep improving "something" yearly up there... :) Come back again soon. I mailed the items you left in the closet back to you this week so you should be getting those in the mail soon.
Hipp’s Hideaway was everything we could ever want in a vacation home. Spacious and clean bedrooms, the COMFIEST pillows, great views of the lake, and your own private dock for a boat. The only recommendation I have would be a TV in the main bedroom, but that’s just my preference. :)This was our 12th trip to Hayward and it wasn’t even over before we were planning our next one!

Good to hear -- come back again next year please! We would love to have you.
I'm a pillow lover, too -- so hate to skimp on the little things. Haven't had many requests for at TV -- but will consider it! 100's of movies in lower rec room cords to connect to internet if you prefer that, too.
Very nice, thought we would be a little more secluded.

Thanks for review, Emily ! We were the first place on the cove and the neighbors to the right got a variance to build on the peninsula. We don't see /hear them much. The new neighbors to the left are the closest -- and are pretty quiet. We replanted or kept as many trees as we could between houses -- and staggered the decks so we don't see anyone from our decks while we are out there (one of MY requirements ... I like to have coffee in my jammies in the morning and prefer not to be seen! :) When we lose our leave coverage you can see the houses, but not the decks/ outdoor hangout areas.
It was beautiful! Such a quiet peaceful retreat in the woods! Very well stocked kitchen and lots of games and movies and books!

Thanks for your kind comments! And for taking such good care of the place. Great communication with you as well. Just curious -- what would it take to get a 5? That's what we'd like to shoot for :) Come back again !
Our stay was very relaxing, great fishing, and lots of fun for the kids.
Location of this home is private with great views of the lake. We had all kinds of options for having fun in the water with our own sandy swimming area. Can't wait to go back!

Good to hear ! The more the swim area gets used, the better it gets... it is a natural sand bottom under the leaves. Also ... My awesome cleaner/property manager appreciated her tip for accomodating an early check in, too :) Thanks and come back!

Great getaway
Was a nice place to stay. Everything we needed was right there or a short ride into Hayward. Fishing was great and parking for the boat right on site made life easy.

Thanks for your review Jacob! Glad you appreciated our new turnaround driveway and expanded parking, too. Fishing has been great this year -- Yay! Come back and try us again, please.
We had an amazing time at our stay with our adult children and their spouses. The three bedrooms and 3 baths gave everyone space. But provides ample spaces for playing cards, around the firepit, reading, fishing, or just relaxing! Lots to do for everyone nearby and kept everyone entertained with lots of together time. Our hosts were amazing and offered so many recommendations around the area and checked it to ensure our experience was great! Thank you for fantastic memories!
Hipp’s is a nice quiet place to stay. Great calm lake to fish and canoe. Nice deck to spend time with friends and family. Great communication with owner.
The property is just as described! The house was great, roomy and had everything we needed and more. We even played some family feud and other card games on our rainy day. It slept our group of 8 perfectly. It’s tucked away and very peaceful. The view from the house deck was beautiful, you could see the lake and the docks below. The docks and seating area down by the lake was also very nice and roomy. All of us could fish, swim and enjoy the lake. The canoes and Lilly pad were a hit with the kids. The owners were very responsive and helpful. Easy to work with! Overall we had a great family vacation!!

Hosted by Shawn Hipp
My husband and I bought Hipp's Hideaway for rental purposes in 2001. We had been in the rental business for 18 years in St. Paul, MN, and thought we'd try something more 'fun'. We were able to get in on the building process add many of the finishing touches ourselves. As we were seasoned vacaton renters, we were able to keep the needs of renters in mind. Our goal was ... and is.. to make you feel like it is YOUR place during your stay......
We selected Hayward as a great rental area, then looked at 31 properties. We were always drawn back to Tiger Cat Cove. Yes, it was strong in all the basic 'investment oriented' things... large wooded lot, good frontage, good sized lakehome, but also had an amazing serenity piece that the others didn't. Our guestbook at the cabin can attest to this as well... come check us out!
SHAWN JOHNSON-HIPP (female)... I get mistaken for a male all the time -- but it is less traumatic now than in 7th grade when I was assigned to the boys locker room for my PE class :) ....
Why they chose this property
We were determined to invest in an area that would welcome us AND our guests, and Hayward fit the bill. There are tons of things to do right at the cabin, nearby, or in town. Great dining options abound. The superior water clarity into the fall, the sand bottom frontage, and the varied woods surrounding the property kept drawing us back. PLUS, as I emphasized above -- it had that special feel ~~~ that serenity piece. Grab a local wine, sit on the dock and listen to the loon calls.
What makes this property unique
Well paved backroads for walks and biking. Fun chain of lakes to explore +++ great fishing. Cabin comes with 2 canoes, a single AND a double kayak and a paddleboat. Rent a SUP or a pontoon or bring your own boat. U shaped dock great for tying up your boat.
Free evening concerts featuring the loons, accompanied by the bull frogs. Crickets will chime in as well. Occasional taps are played at sunset by a local vet who lives on the lake. Suggested finale is to finish off your concert experience watching the dance & crackle of a lakeside campfire and take in the visual array of the evening stars and moon against the pitch black sky... Bring your flashlight it gets pitch black dark if there isn't a full moon ! Upper firepit has been added for those lazy nights...
