A Beautiful Retreat for Three Generations

Three generations found rest,beauty,& joy at Serenity South. Thoughtful touches,beautiful gardens and Cape charm made this more than a stay-it became a treasured memory. We were so appreciative of the details, the fresh flowers, homemade cookies, the coffeemaker upstairs and the books and games. The beds were all comfortable. We enjoyed this historical home and our stay.

Serenity south was welcoming comfortable and very clean. Impeccably maintained historic home. Comfortable beds, great water pressure and shower head, easy to maintain consistent temperature. Good vibes throughout. Not haunted. Beautiful outdoor space but it was too hot to use it much while we were there. Recommend stopping by the olive oil store William and Water across the street.

Wonderful home!

We needed a place to stay and most of the hotel had no vacancy. Booked 2 nights at this lovely quaint older home and couldn’t have been more pleased. Definitely worth booking again.

Father/daughter weekend getaway

What a wonderful weekend we had! The house was everything it said it was and more (blueberry scones)! All in all it was a great place to stay with plenty of room. We'll be back again, next time we're in town!

Charming, beautifully maintained home

Lovely house, well maintained and stocked. Nice bed linens and towels. Lots of thoughtful features like a coffee and tea station upstairs with the bedrooms. The host even left fresh cookies for us in the kitchen. Beautiful gardens with cut flowers. Fantastic location just blocks from shopping, restaurants and bars. Highly recommend.

Great house and amazing location!

I stayed at Jo’s place with my sister and father. We absolutely loved it!! The location was truly amazing and close to so many restaurants and shops. The setup was perfect for us with the 3 bedrooms and full bath upstairs and it was great to have the 1/2 bath off the living space. We didn’t cook while we were there but the kitchen was huge and seemed well stocked with dishes. Communication with our host was easy and she was very helpful. The house was gorgeous and had tons of historical details. Would love to stay here again!

Perfect stay, perfect day!

We stayed at Serenity South as we visited the area for the total solar eclipse. The property was clean, comfortable, well maintained and furnished. When we booked it, we had no idea how convenient to downtown and the riverbank it actually was. We were within walking distance to the eclipse activities for the day. Jo was very attentive and responsive to any questions or needs we had. Check in and checkout instructions were very clear. Thank you for helping make our eclipse adventure absolutely perfect!

Beautiful Property, Amazing Town

We were looking for a place to stop overnight on our way back from our trip and we wish we could have stayed longer! The property was amazing. The backyard we good for my children to run around and play in. The house was well decorated and stocked. The surrounding town is beautiful. The downtown is within walking distance. We stumbled upon the Saturday morning Farmers market. This is definitely a place that we would come back to. Jo was great at keeping us in the loop.

Girls weekend

Second time staying for a girls weekend. Always clean. Wondering if someone was staying/living in the basement? There was a child crying and it sounded like that is where it was coming from. Expected someone next door as it is a duplex. Also time for new mattresses.

This property is excellent

This is an older home (1920’s?) with so much charm. It’s exceptionally well cared for - the floors are clean and in excellent condition, the walls are clean, paint job is beautiful, etc. The air is clean (no smell of mold) bathroom fans work, etc! In short, one of the best maintained rentals we’ve stayed in. The beds are comfy. Oh - and the landscaping is also beautiful! It is winter - would love to see the gardens in the spring. Jo was easy to contact, check in was easy. The trains do run 1 or 2 times per night and are close and on Friday night there were some people having fun running their loud cars through town but otherwise it is quiet and peaceful. The walk to town is only a few blocks. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect For Family Getaway

Our family of 5 (3 children-8, 9 & 12) enjoyed a brief getaway to Cape and was thrilled to find this wonderful place to stay. Everything was just as it was described and the home was very comfortable and clean. The location was perfect for getting out and enjoying the downtown area as we were able to shop the flea markets, enjoy the restaurants and see the historical sights without having to drive to them. The hosts were wonderful and made the stay a special experience for our kids. As for all the practical things you’d look for in a home to make a comfortable stay, they have it all and more. The beds were excellent, the kitchen was stocked and everything you would need was thought of and provided. If you’re looking for restaurant suggestions, Broussard’s Cajun Cuisine (best catfish ever) & Pagliai’s Pizza were excellent choices. We will certainly be back to enjoy this wonderful home… “thank you” to the hosts who made our stay a memorable, pleasant and comfortable experience!

Moving our daughter in to the dorm at SEMO for yr 2. Been coming to this location since our trip here during her senior year of HS when she visited SEMO to audition for the musical theatre program. It is a great place to stay when you have more than 2 people.

Comfortable & Clean

Great Location short walking distance to the Downtown Area with lots do do, Restaurants, Water Park, Shopping. This is the 2nd time I have stayed and it is a true delight. Very spacious and comfortable. Easy to communicate with the Owner/Manager. I will be staying there again in the future. I recommend it with 5 Stars!
