The historic Kirkland Ranch (KR) is a destination offering 120 acres of perfect trails for riding your horses, excellent amenities for a family vacation, the tranquility/privacy for a romantic getaway, and more. With 4 Bedrooms and 3 baths, a full kitchen, living room, dining room, and plenty of parking so you can comfortably fit up to 8 guests. Wake up in the morning surrounded by the beauty of Shenandoah Valley, enjoy your coffee on the deck watching the sunrise, and take in the never ending views.
For those coming to the ranch in a Tesla EV there are 3 Charging Stations within a few miles, including one right in Plymouth.
The Space: Located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, we are comfortably nestled between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe (day trip?) and feature a 1,600-foot peak dubbed “Kay’s View” in honor of my Mom, a place she loved to visit often.
We have partnered with some of the 40+ local wineries to bring our guests a white-glove service while wine tasting (Cooper Vineyard, Story, Helwig Winery, and Dillian, just to name a few). You can opt to arrive at the wineries by horseback! That’s right; we are the only resort that can boast Wine Tasting by Horseback on your personal horses!
Kirkland Ranch has endless opportunities to relax, unwind, make memories, and even try something new! Here are a few of the things we offer:
· Wine Tasting · Sutter Creek (nearby) · Amador City (nearby) · Hatchet throwing · Trail riding · Horseback riding with Brand New Mare Hotel and wash station (Kirkland DOES NOT provide horses). · River access · Gold Panning · Pond Fishing · Blackberry Picking · Branding Wall · Hiking · Mountain Bike Riding · Private Chef from Luka's or Saluti's (additional charge) if booked in advance.

My work team and I wanted to get away and do some team building outside of the office. The ranch was a good location for it. It is well equipped with seating inside and outside and nice living room which we used for discussions and fun cooking time in the kitchen. We had several meals together and also enjoyed a short hike to Dana’s point where we saw the beautiful view to the mountain ranges surrounding the ranch. The ranch was very clean and we all well equipped. Wineries are only a short drive away.

About the host
Your host
I am fortunate enough to have inherited my parent’s dream, the home I grew up in and together with a few friends we have renovated the home to create a warm and welcoming setting. Our goal has been to share with the world the Historic Kirkland Ranch.
Why they chose this property
We welcome you to Kirkland Ranch to experience the community, wine, horseback trails, and epic sunset’s that I did as I grew up. As you step foot into the home, you will feel the nostalgia as you travel through decades past with Kay’s beautiful paintings, a large wood-burning stove, boot warmers on the hearth, all while having the modern amenities we expect today.
What makes this property unique
We invite you to make memories of blackberry picking, watching the sunset over the pond, hiking under the trees, and the many other things our ranch offers!
