About this property

Lovely property with separate private lakefront to Silver Lake + huge backyard.

We fell in love with this lovely Pure Michigan property with separate private access to Silver Lakes. It is our happy place. This summer home gives out a vibe of a chill and homey Michigan cottage. The house boasts of a large 1700 sq ft of living space and only 2 houses away from the lakefront. There is a large deck that we enjoy our meals "al fresca". There are string lights and candles that makes dinner and wine just so perfect. There is a front yard sitting area, as well as (2) separate fire pit for a large group to enjoy. One in the backyard and one by the lakefront to enjoy the sunset. There is no rental in the area that can offer the best of both world to have private access to Silver Lakes and for a group to enjoy a huge northern woods backyard. In the backyard, there is enough room to set-up nets for Volleyball, badminton, and pickleball. There is a living room and a family room if you need to have a separate play area for the kids. The dining table can accommodate 8. One of my other favorite feature of the house is the outdoor shower with hot water. Nothing like watching the dense stars above when you are showering. Our property includes a separate lakefront that has a large gazebo, fire pit, seating area and dock where you can swim in Silver Lake, launch kayak , paddleboard or other water equipment. This is a short 2 minute walk and is only for your private use. The Silver Lake State Park is a short 10 minute walk. This is an option for a beach and playground. The Little Sable Point Lighthouse is a short drive for a tour of the lighthouse or a day at the Lake Michigan beach. We have four (4) Bedrooms with queen bed per bedroom. It is advertised as sleeps 10 using a queen air mattress in the family room. Our kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need.

Was expecting better for the price.

This was a very cute home ! A few issues. My mom fell the first night from the step down to the kitchen. I would suggest getting some reflector tape or something for safety. It was also hard with a crawling baby to keep her safe from all the steps. It said to not put the air any lower than 73, which was really hard considering on our baby monitor the back larger bedroom was saying it was 80 degrees ! The little beach at the end of the street was perfectly walkable, but two of the chairs were broken and there isn’t really a beach for kids to play in. We did float and swim and it was still fun. The location was great and very close to everything we wanted to see. The highlight was the fantastic yard and sitting areas! Maria was very responsive with any issues we had.

Our stay was overall enjoyable — we especially loved the outdoor shower and backyard space. The house was cute, though there were quite a few steps in and out of the kitchen and bedrooms, which proved tricky with small kids at first.We did have to unplug all the Glade plug-ins, as the strong scent caused breathing discomfort. The beachfront area had broken chairs and was left trashed by previous guests. The fire extinguisher near the outdoor grill was empty, which felt like a safety oversight. Also, the private beach access advertised is actually across a main road and farther away than we expected.There were also ants in the bedrooms — unfortunately, some came home with us in our suitcases.The most serious concern, however, happened on our second night: the carbon monoxide detector went off in the room where our three small children were sleeping. That moment — walking in to check on them — will stay with me forever. The room had very poor ventilation and airflow. When I reached out to the host, she said it was a low battery, but I don’t believe that was the case. We chose to move the kids to an air mattress in a different room for the rest of our stayI’m incredibly grateful the alarm was there — it may have protected us from something far worse. As a mother, I feel a responsibility to share this experience in hopes of protecting other families. Until the airflow issue is investigated, I believe it’s unsafe to allow anyone to sleep in that room without proper warning

Multi generation vacation

The yard was a big hit ..with kids and a small dog the outside was much visited . I enjoyed my coffee every morning outdoors either lake side or back yard watching all the birds and squirrels. Open space in middle of house to visit n eat together was very good , kids loved the outdoor shower! Pretty quiet nice neighborhood. Close to ever thing . Thanks for sharing your home with us .

We enjoyed the property and especially the location. There are multiple steps up and down at various door thresholds that make it a little tough for the very young or old. Some details needed to be tended to, and we brought these attention to the owner.

Nice size for our family of 7, close to all the attractions we wanted to visit. Large outdoor spaces with plenty of seating. We cooked at the house all 3 nights of our stay, only disappointment was the gas tanks for the grill and fire table were empty after our 1st night.

Property owner very accommodating and prompt response to any needs. Home is very cute and has lots of cottage character. We would suggest bringing your own fan if you need cooler temperatures for sleeping. We LOVED having the beach access and sat there every night after being on the dunes and car show during the daytime. We already booked to come back next year!

Great Family Vacation

Our family met here for a three night stay and it did not disappoint. It was immaculate and my grandchildren loved fishing off of the dock. The home was very clean and the kitchen was stocked the best of any rental we have been to. The host promptly answered any questions by calling us personally and the property manager personally delivered life jackets once we requested the paddle boards be available for use. The only down side I can think of is the chairs down at the beach were cracked but it wasn’t a problem as we had brought our own. We would definitely stay here again!!!

Decent location but overpriced for ammenities at Silver Lake

Upon arrival, we thought home was across from the lake, or extra lot was across from lake, it was down 4 homes. That was not terrible. Online it looks newer than it is. Ants were found in the back bedroom with orange/red wood floor & all over kitchen counter & window sill. There were ant traps on the sill, so we decided to go get more at Walmart. We put them on counter, in bedrooms &more on window sill. Within another hour of returning, we see ants had got into our food, we tried moving it to the pantry but the previous guests left food in there & fridge, there were chocolate chip cookies open & ants everywhere in there. Not many bowls in kitchen with lids so I headed bk to local store for zip lock bags. I did notify the owner of the issue, she stated they have never had ants, & I responded that cannot be true since there were traps when we arrived on window sill, & I found 3 cans of ant/bug/roach spray under the kitchen sink. She sent property manager there the next day at 1pm to put out more traps and spray around the home. I had told her we needed an extra set of sheets as there were none around. One of the beds had dirty sheets & stains when we arrived but manager did provide new the next day from locked closet. Home states it sleeps 10 but that with air mattress. We had 9 & a 10 month old baby. Not enough towels for 10 or silverware. 4 nights & only 5 rolls of TP. Beds not comfortable. Nice yard & outdoor shower. Home was not clean, food on floor/under furn

I put caution tape on the floors, didn't want anyone tripping although most of us did, no one was hurt, would have been nice if there was a latter on the dock. we arrived after there was a bad storm, house was ok no damage, however the cushions were left out when we got there and took two days to dry out. the house was cute and we did enjoy ourselves, We made the best of it.

Late Summer Getaway

Decided last minute to spend 3 days with family. Have traveled to Michigan for 30 years but have never visited the Silver Lake area. The area and the house were both hidden gems for our family. The house was very clean and had everything we needed to relax or have fun including private lakefront access a few hundred feet away from the front door. Nice kitchen with spacious counter, huge firepit, outdoor hot water shower, huge yard, and another firepit at the lake for watching beautiful sunsets. The Host Maria and the property manager Robert were both very friendly and made our check-in and checkout and our entire stay perfect.

Amazing trip!

Our family really enjoyed the house…it felt like home and was EXTREMELY clean!! The sheets and blankets smelled fresh and it smelled really clean when we walked in for the first time. There was plenty of space and the outside had a huge backyard with a really nice fire pit and a patio with a gas fire grill. It’s about five houses down from Silver Lake and is centrally located making it super convenient to get to town and the dunes! Thank you!! We’re definitely coming back next summer!!

Pure Michigan! The Silver Lakes area is such a wonderful and beautiful place. The dunes are amazing. There is no place anywhere else in the country that can showcase such a landscape while enjoying the water life and water sports in Silver Lake. The area is surrounded by fruit orchards, wineries, breweries and hiking trails.

What makes this property unique

This property is on Silver Lake (not Upper Silver Lake). You have the benefit of endless sandy bottom of the lake. The unique benefit of this property is the accessibility to Silver Lake and the dunes plus the additional benefit of a huge private backyard to spread out and set up games of volleyball, pickle ball, etc. . There is a huge firepit for everyone to enjoy and the best spot to stargaze.
