A Very Special Estate: Welcome to Himmlischer Chateau (Heavenly Home), where the dream, group vacation experience comes together through the eyes of an award-winning developer and theme park designers. Himmlischer is more than a house – it is an entertainment venue purposely designed for groups of all ages. This may well be the nicest house for rent in the Poconos but why take our word for it, click the web site link at the bottom and read our customer reviews.
Location Details: Location Himmlischer is located at the top of a private four season community complex, offering year round activities. The lodge, restaurant, bar, food market, pool, tiki bar, waterslides, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and bocci ball courts are right next to the house at the lodge. You won't get run over while teaching your kids how to ski here and you park just once and ski-in and out the whole week. There is also a fitness center, beach, horseback riding, fishing, boats and sport courts to use. A spa with indoor pool, golf, rafting, canoeing, paintball, Eagle Institute observation area, museums, miniature golf, go carts, batting cages antiquing and family fun park are all minutes away.
House Design: The center piece of the top floor is a commercial, Tapan-Yaki steak house kitchen and nicer furniture and cabinets than I have in my own home. Before drafting the house, we blueprinted the fun for every activity and part of our think-tank process was considering where adults and children of each age group would congregate. Adults savor the top floor most often and teenagers congregate in the game room. We put plasma TV’s and DVD players in 3 of the bedrooms so that parents can put cartoons on for toddlers. The first floor was designed for families with the youngest children in mind. Since they are usually the first to wake up and go to the game room theater, everyone else above them can still get some sleep. We also recognized how hard it can be to get kids to eat when they are having fun, so we put an extra kitchen on this level and a card table. Every conceivable thing that you will do here, we have done at other rentals and brainstormed about making it better.

We had an amazing family vacation at Himmlischer Chateau! The location is perfect for skiing, and even for those of us learning, it was so convenient to hit the slopes. The house itself is stunning—spacious, beautifully decorated, and so comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked, which made cooking for the whole family easy and enjoyable. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the linens feel luxurious, which made waking up each morning a treat. Every little detail, from the cozy living areas to the thoughtful touches around the house, made our stay feel special. It was such a relaxing and memorable getaway, and we can’t wait to come back!
Let me start by saying that my entire family enjoyed the house and we plan on inquiring again next year to rent this house for our annual winter escape. The house was everything that I excepted, the bedroom layout was perfect for my children and grandchildren. In spite of the -21 wind chill temp the house was very comfortable, and the fireplaces were a bonus. The large projection TV was a hit especially watching the Super Bowl on it. The dining and kitchen layout worked great for us to all eat together. This is by far the best house that I have ever returned, and I rent homes 2X per year. Thank you for letting us enjoy this house.
Everything was great and fit a group of 12 adults perfectly.

Well, there was really no counter space, a big hibachi grill in the middle of the kitchen that we were not allowed to use, as well as a wonderful wood burning fireplace that was also off limits. Sliding doors we were not allowed to open. There were a lot of restrictions for this house. More than I have encountered in any other rental.
The property was well maintained and met all our needs. It will be on our return list for sure as we have stayed in several homes in this community over the years and this one beat them by a mile.
Had a great time at this rental. It was exactly what we needed for a nice long weekend in the summer. We used the amenities provoded by the community they were in and the kids had a blast. Everyone on the trip was extremely happy with the properry, the professionalism and the ease of renting through them. Great all around. Will definitely be looking to stay at this rental again as well as other properties managed by them.
We had a blast at this hoise. My only complaint was the hood system over the grill wasn’t the best. The top level smelled like whatever had had cooked the night before. Overall the house was a blast.
Great home. Very Clean, all amenities you can imagine.
Our family had such a great time!

The pictures on the website is exactly how the place looks. The only I think they should mention, it has 3 levels with the kitchen at the top. A very beautiful place

Hi Angela,
Thank you so much for staying with us, we are so glad your group had an amazing stay. We strive to deliver everything we promise. We hope you enjoyed the layout of the property. The kitchen, living, and main congregating areas were intentionally put on the third floor to maximize views, as we found that this is the space most adults congregate in in the home! This way you can have the best views while enjoying our most popular amenities in the best room in the house! We hope to have you back soon!
We booked the chateau for my parter's 50th birthday and spent the weekend with a group of friends. The property rep was very responsive and made the rental process easy. The property itself was beautiful and everyone was impressed by the space, the location, and the thoughtfulness of how everything was laid out. We will definitely be renting this space in the future for more group getaways!

Hi Ralph,
We are so glad you enjoyed your trip to Himmlischer Chateau! Our Lakeview Lux & Aurora Point locations are almost identical, but offer a change in location and a few extra bed rooms. Just something to keep in mind for the future!
My family and I had THE ABSOLUTE BEST TIME in this home. Between the cooking and relaxing in the hot, to also playing games and movie night. This house was hands down breathtaking. Thank you from the Capomolla family

My husband and I stayed at this property with 3 other couples the first week of Nov08. I was thrilled to find that the house was immaculately clean. The bedrooms were more spacious than the pictures portrayed. We were so comfortable in the house with all of its amenities that we ventured out only once. The community is very quiet. The house is very relaxing and definitely family-friendly - I hope to book again soon!
The property is everything it says it is… and more! The house is beautiful and well laid out to give us both a place to gather together (9 of us) and spaces to spend time alone/as couples, if needed. The check in process and communication of the homeowners was easy and accurate. It is in a community setting that requires day passes for the amenities nearby and in my option are well worth it! You can walk to the main lodge area through the back yard (in the summer). The pool and the pond (more like a lake) with a beach were both close day trips that made everyone happy. We made almost all our meals in the amazing kitchen but there are restaurants nearby if that’s more your style. Highly recommend!

Hi Katelyn,
Thanks so much for your informative review! We hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future!
Property is as advertised; Perfect for 8 adults and 4 kids Ages 6 mos to 5 yrs old. Property manager was very attentive with thoughtful posted FAQ's and house manual. Sufficiently equipped and close to mountain activities even when insufficient snow for ski-in ski-out. Kitchen is well equipped to cook every night with a full crew. We were able to locate a baby rental company to bring some cribs in which easily fit into the two bedrooms across from the two master bedrooms. Look forward to our next visit. Ski mountain is very young family friendly with plenty of beginner areas. This was a warm and rainy (mostly misty) Christmas and the ski mountain teams made the most out of constantly deteriorating conditions to enable keeping the mountain open the entire time - not an easy task without mother nature accommodating with colder temps to make snow..
The property was as expected. Nice bedrooms, although double bunks in the two single rooms would be better than the futon and air mattress offerings. Also the queen bed caves in the middle and really needs to be another King. The bathrooms in the masters are a bit odd in that there is no door between the bedroom door and the shower so if you hop out of the shower and someone walks in the bedroom….The theater sound also needed adjustment as the surround sounds needed to be deafening in order to hear the dialogue. I’d also like another dining table option as it sleeps 14 but only has 8 dining chairs. But overall it is a nice house with nice views and is on the slope. It made for a great Christmas!

Hi Kirk,
We are so glad you had a great Christmas at Himmlischer Chateau! It was also great talking to you after you checked out. We understand you have a few rental properties and appreciate the time you took to review our property. Customer service is very important to us, and providing an unforgettably positive vacation experience for our customers is why we got into this business in the first place. We have quality control checks for each change over, and company wide quality control checks every quarter with our entire staff. We go to great lengths to try to ensure that everything is in pristine working condition for our guests. We do our best to address any amenity issues as quickly as we can if something happens to break or is missed beyond our control!
We wish you had reached out during your stay so we would have had an opportunity to address the surround sound. At Himmlischer Chateau, we use a stereo receiver 6.1 surround sound system for optimal listening experience, and if you had not selected the proper listening setting for a movie or cinema, it may have been set to the incorrect listening experience, such as music or vice versa. We would have been happy to explain this over the phone or send our Property Manager to recalibrate it for you and we also could have directed you to the house manual explaining this. We also appreciate your feedback on the bathroom layout, bed sizes available and dining room table size. We encourage our customers to view our extremely detailed floor plans, which include these bed sizes and dining room table sizes, on our website ahead of time so that they have a better idea of what to expect before arriving. We will review your feedback, along with the feedback of other groups and address if necessary. We also appreciate your feedback on the dining table. As I mentioned on our call, the dining layout was designed to allow the adults to all sit at the large table and for the children to sit around the island, where everyone has their own space, but still feels like they are together. We have found that most groups enjoy having this set up, but we do understand it was Christmas and you wanted your entire group to be able to sit together. As explained we do go through great lengths to make sure the floor plans depict exact measurements and layouts of the furniture and the room to ensure this will meet the expectations of our guests.
The Chateau was everything it was advertised to be (except that the bubble hockey game has been replaced by a shuffleboard table). The LARGE projection TV was great for movies and the Olympics, and the games and big screen on the lower level provided plenty of entertainment for the younger set although the pool table needs to be leveled and the pockets are in disrepair.
There’s lots to do in the area, including all the activities at Masthope (swimming pool, mini golf, basketball, tennis, cornhole, skiing in season), Lake Masthope, plus hiking, horseback riding within thirty minutes.
On the down side, unless you’re really into using the large professional griddle in the kitchen, it’s more bother than useful. Daily oiling is a must, whether you use it or not, unless you want to spend an hour scrubbing it at the end of your stay. The house is great for young, mobile people, but the stairs are steeper than the average house so it is not accessible to elderly or handicapped individuals.

Hi Michael,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. Our guests satisfaction is extremely important to us. We are so glad we were able to deliver everything that we advertised to your group. We did recently replace the bubble hockey with a shuffle board table due to guest demand and we made sure to update our listing for that. We did have a look at the pool table pockets thanks to your feedback and made sure to address any issues with them. Regarding the Griddle, it is a great feature and we wish your group was able to enjoy it. We understand your group did not use it but cleaning the griddle is easy if the instructions are followed. We do oil the griddle between stays to prevent the griddle from oxidizing so we only ask that groups using it oil it as best as possible after use. We understand the inconvenience of having many stairs in the property for elderly individuals so we apologize for any inconvenience that has caused. We have done our best to keep accurate floor plans on our website and listing to that groups can make the best informed decisions for their group. Thanks again and we do hope you can visit any of our properties again in the future. It was very nice hosting you.

Ok stay. Should be better for this price point.
I will start out by saying it was good to get to the mountain to disconnect and relax for a reset. Now I will get to the rundown of the property. When we pulled up and saw the outside we all were like "Oh no...what did we do!!???". We got in and looked around and at quick glance we were like this is awesome. The good points are it was quiet, the deer were everywhere and wild turkeys walking through as well. Kitchen, dining room and living room area was large and spacious. The big screen TVs and pool table awesome. Now let's get to what was not good. Hair in the shower, sticky residue on the kitchen chairs and floor. Food residue on dishes and pots and pans. The cushions on the dining room chairs felt like you were sitting on a toilet seat We also experienced broken windows, blinds and furniture as well as missing window screens. The AC/Heating vents were filthy in the living room and dining room area. Cobwebs were prevalent in the windows as well. The beds were noisey everytime you rolled over and the walls and floors are soooo paper thin you fell like you are part of the conversation in the other room and on the other floor. The close proximity to the ski lift is cool but off season you are looking at maintenance equipment. Whatever you do, make sure you have everything you need from the store when get there because running to any sizeable store like Walmart is a 1 hour travel ordeal roundtrip not counting time spent shopping. Thank God for our Instacart delivery person on one day that we were not feeling the drive. Oh..and we had to do some cleaning before we checked out which is odd. Not sure who is in charge of maintenance but the owner should get his money back from whoever he hired. If it is the owner maintaining this place he needs help or some training. The booking process and tons of forms to sign is way over the type for this property. I signed less paperwork to stay in a way better property in Kauai. I can honestly say this is a one and done for me and my family.

Hi Steve,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. Our guests satisfaction is extremely important to us. We are glad your trip to the mountain offered you the opportunity to disconnect and relax. We’re also glad you enjoyed the pool table and our signature projection screens and electronics. Unfortunately it seems like some items in the house were not up to your satisfaction given this review. At all of our property locations including the Himmlischer Chateau, we have quarterly checks at the property to deliver our 100% company goal “To always provide a sparkling clean house, clear hot tub water, properly adjusted electronics and make repairs made rapidly so guests can enjoy the features that we advertise, promote and promise.” These meetings have our operations managers, local managers and cleaners present to inspect the house with a fine tooth comb. To provide a flawless vacation is the reason we got in to designing these homes in the first place, and we take all customer reviews very seriously so that we can continue to provide a better product to future guests and deliver on all of our promises. Our quality control meetings inspect all conditions of amenities in the house, cleaning conditions inspections with a white glove and flashlight, as well as general home and furniture inspections to make sure things are up to our standards. Unfortunately we didn’t receive notice of your feedback, or any communication from you while you and your group were in the Chateau staying with us. We would have loved the opportunity to inspect, verify, and address any of your mentioned issues had we been able to, while you were staying with us. We also tried to reach you multiple times after receiving your feedback to better understand what we could have done to make your stay more enjoyable and unfortunately have not received a return call yet. We did review your feedback in depth and although we did not find any particular evidence of the conditions you mentioned in the home but we did not discount your feedback. We did double the size of our cleaning staff for the subsequent cleaning to be absolutely sure that nothing could have been missed, and scheduled another furniture inspection to be sure no guest would encounter any future issue. We apologize that you found the remote location of the chateau inconvenient. Many of our guests enjoy the location for the mountain feel to get away with their families while still having stores and amenities within a drivable distance compared to other very remote ski and cabin locations in the US. Normally we receive this as a positive feedback from our guests! We do keep our website updated with the location and all relevant information so that our guests can plan ahead and bring everything they will need to relax and enjoy the tranquility that our remote location offers. We do encourage all of our guests to research the area in advance to maximize their vacations by knowing the great amenities in the area and the distances from the Chateau.
Thanks again for your feedback and we do hope you can visit one of our properties again in the future. It was very nice hosting you and we would love to hear more from you as we have tried to reach out several times.

Big Disappointment
From website photos, previous reviews, & the high rental price of this home we were expecting fabulous, but instead found the house & rental experience to be a huge disappointment. We rent large homes each summer for our family (10 years now) & never had an experience like this. The manager Scott came across with an attitude that he was doing us a favor by allowing us to rent this home. No emails were returned when I had questions prior to arrival. The house diagram on their website shows an air mattress in each room & states the home sleeps 20. One of my 3 questions was whether all these air mattresses were in the home so we knew how many linens to pack (traveling by plane), but Scott never had the courtesy to reply even after several attempts. When we arrived we found only one air mattress, which did not have the proper attachments to inflate & didn’t hold air for even half the night. The house was worn & in the worse condition of any rental we have stayed in: oven door didn’t close, the ice maker was extremely slow or nonfunctioning, the couch had large tears, most of the beds creaked loudly when you moved or got in or out, the downstairs shower didn’t drain properly, the dining chairs sank in & felt like they were falling apart, etc. The noise from family members walking on the top level wood floors woke up the people sleeping below each morning. On top of this, my daughter took pictures of all the signs & warnings throughout the house about losing your deposit: don’t touch the wires or lose your deposit, check chemicals each day or lose $100, trash must be taken to compactor or charge will be taken from your deposit, late check out penalty of an extra day’s charge, etc. — we counted & took pictures of over 40 signs. We laughed about this craziness, but certainly didn't make for a welcoming environment. We did like the community amenities, golf cart & soaking in the hot tub. We browsed through reviews the last night there & and thought they must be talking about a different home or they weren't actual renters. If you like to pack & bring all your own linens/towels (they can’t afford a high efficiency washer like other large rentals?), to be constantly reminded while on vacation of what you must do or shouldn’t do, don’t mind paying a high price for a very average home, desire no answers to questions from a manager with an attitude that you are lucky to pay a high price to stay there for a week, then this may be exactly what you are looking for!

Dear Phylis,
Customer satisfaction is our number one goal and we take great care to make sure that all of our customer concerns are heard and addressed with top priority.
We are sorry that your experience with the manager was less than you expected. The reason your emails were not returned was because your emails were sent to a do-not-reply type system generated email address. We have worked to now forward those to our personal accounts so this issue will not happen again.
Thank you for pointing out the items that needed repair or that were not working properly. We have since replaced the couch with a high quality commercial leather couch. We also replaced several beds, mattresses and box springs and are currently replacing the carpet in much of the Chateau.
We have also revisited any signage on the property. Some signs are necessary for the safety of the guests or so guests can properly use the amenities. We removed several of the signs and are instead addressing items in a new video that explains how everything works at the Chateau.
We appreciate your candid feedback and have taken actions to address these items. As you can see from reviews since your stay in August 15, we continue to get five star reviews from satisfied guests.
I travel with my family every year, we try to find special places to gather and this definitely makes it for us. The living room and game room are ideal for watching movies or playing, which means a lot if you travel with children. I think we found a special one here.
This place is built for a group to bond and enjoy each other in a wonderful setting.

Hi Bob,
Thanks so much for taking the time to review our property. Great care and thought went into the design of our property, so that groups of friends and families could relax and enjoy time together. We’re so glad you enjoyed your time and hope to see you again soon!
This place is great for a girls getaway. We had a blast sitting on the porch, enjoying the hot tub and enjoying wine with old friends! The house has multiple master bedrooms so we all had a nice space to unplug and relax. The house was clean and well stocked. We loved the mountain store that had groceries, a great deli and made to order sandwiches for pick up. The teppanyaki griddle is really unique and it was fun to sit around the griddle and cook while we talked. I’d like to bring my family back next time to enjoy with my kids!
