Ocean Front at OIB Sand Dwellers Condo

This first floor condo sits nearest to the beach and features remarkable unobstructed ocean views and includes two bedrooms and two baths within the condo. The master bedroom has a full private bath, a King bed and cable TV. The other bedroom has two queen beds and shares the hallway full bathroom within unit. The dining table can sit six and there are two bar stools at the breakfast bar. Drinking cups, plates, bowls and utensils are provided for your convenience.
Amenities include: community swimming pool, cold water outside shower (pool side), and unit specific central heating and air, refrigerator, wash and dryer, dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster oven, blender, iron/ ironing board, and secure Wi-Fi. Beach access is just to the east of the complex.
Condo provides pillows, bedspreads and curtains with mini blinds.
“Food, drinks, sheets, towels, paper and soap products are not provided”. ALL OUR UNITS ARE NON-SMOKING, AND NO PETS ARE ALLOWED.

Perfect beach getaway

This was the perfect beach getaway. Location is absolutely perfect! Ocean views from every door and window. Eaay check in and out. Walk out to beach, shopping and restaurants close! Disappointed.

While the condominium is clean & well equipped, there are several fundamental problems. First and foremost, the air conditioner is not in good operating condition. The thermostat temperature hovered around 76F -77F despite the setting at 70F. To alleviate the uncomfortable conditions, the ceiling and floor fans remained constantly running. We were made aware of the air conditioning issue prior to our arrival, but decided to chance this as the owner explained that the issue was only reported previously by renters just before our arrival. An explanation of a new unit was given and it was not considered to be extreme. Another problem is In regard to the oceanfront condominium having no rental access to the beach. There are sandbags on the beach all along the home front with little beach availability except at a Public Access point. The ocean encroachment is onto the sandbags. The only beach available is at low tide and is limited.. Please consider these issues when renting,.

It saddens me that you sound angry and are fore warning any future guest. So I would like to explain a few things. First off everyone gets a welcome email that states the public ocean entry walk way to the ocean is behind building A. This is a documented email sent to you. This is an approximate distance of one football field. I do not have control over the beach access points and this is an unfair statement. Next there was a hurricane spinning in the Atlantic during the week you were there so I can not control high tide or low tide nor do I control Mother Nature. Lastly there is not a problem with the AC it is the ductwork that will be 100 percent replaced the end of September. Once we identified what the problem was I told you and you wanted an agreement that if anytime you wanted to leave you would get a refund for any unused time. I made this agreement with you. During a phone call with your husband he said he was comfortable as long as the fans were running. You never checked out early and stayed the entire week. Additionally the Town of OIB got court approval for a groin and beach restoration which will start November 2021.

Bugs!

This place had dead bugs and live bugs in it. They were large roach-like bugs. The owner offered a refund, but that would mean cancelling a special birthday vacation. They sent someone to sprinkle some powder across the doorways, but that didn’t help. They offered no other recourse such as putting us up at a different location or a rebate of some sort. This was my first vrbo experience. Not sure I’ll try again.

Quick trip

The condo was clean and the decor was super cute. However, the a/c did not work that well. It was 80 degrees and uncomfortable when coming in from the outdoors. I’ve stayed at other beach houses where this wasn’t an issue. The refrigerator did not keep our food cold and we had to put many things into the freezer. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful area

This is a great condo in a quiet and beautiful area of OIB. The condo was clean and we loved being able to hear the waves at night. We will definitely make this our go to place in OIB!
