About this property

Cabin near Chimney Rock-Lake Lure-Asheville- DOG FRIENDLY

This is a lovely two-story cabin surrounded by woods near Chimney Rock State Park, NC. It is located directly off of Hwy 74, so it's an easy 25 mi to Asheville, 20 mi. to Blue Ridge Pkwy, & only 1 mi. to Chimney Rock. It sleeps 8, has two covered decks, a great view of the mountains, and sounds of the Broad River across the street. It is a great place for anyone who wants a comfy, affordable place to relax while they get to explore beautiful western NC. See description below for full details!

We are now dog friendly and will allow up to 2 dogs to stay for just a low pet fee of $50! That goes directly to our cleaners for additional cleaning and laundry. Unfortunately due to cat allergies, we do not allow cats.

This is a clean and comfortable cabin, with some extra amenities, such as the fire pit and gas grill. As the pictures show, the cabin is surrounded by woods, which gives you privacy. There are other cabins nearby, as this home is part of the Mountain Village Chalet vacation community, but most of the homes are empty throughout the year, so it is very quiet. During the winter and fall, the deck has a direct view of Chimney Rock State Park! As the pictures show, this cabin is two stories with covered decks on both the bottom and top story. However, the top level is not connected to the bottom story via interior stairs. The house is two separate levels and you have to go outside and down the outdoor steps to get to the bottom story. The house is on the side of a mountain, so there is no fenced backyard. The neighborhood is pretty quiet, with little vehicle traffic. The paved road uphill makes for a nice walk with pretty views.

For our dog owners- Our cabin does not have a fenced yard! There is a gravel area on the top level and just a small shoulder area on the road to bring your dogs to do their business. We also have a long grassy driveway on the lower level, but you must go down a flight of stairs (from the back deck) and that area isn't lit up at night. So keep this in mind! But we are on a mountain that you can walk up or down for our more active dog parents.

Top Level:
This is the level that you will drive up to. It has a ramp to the front door from the road. The top story has a fully equipped kitchen with all your cooking and baking dishes and utensils. Also, an electric tea kettle, French press, drip coffee maker, and electric griddle. We provide medium roast coffee grounds, sugar & other sweeteners, and various tea bags. As well as- garbage bags, dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher pods, a brand new sponge, and paper towels. There is one full bathroom with a shower/tub combo. We provide fresh towels and wash clothes. *Separate towels provided for dogs. This level has one bedroom with a king sized log bed and a gel memory foam mattress with a 32" Roku TV. The main living room has a wood burning fireplace (we do not provide wood), 50" Roku TV, dining table with 6 chairs, and a sectional couch. We have a sliding glass door from the living room and a door from the kitchen leading to our upper deck. This deck has a table and chairs for outdoor eating, as well as a gas grill (propane is provided). This level has stairs that lead to a lower level driveway, not typically needed or used for cars, that is great for walking your dog. Please note, it is not well lit at night.

Bottom Level:
From the main road where you park, you will go down a flight of steps to access this level. There are no interior stairs connecting the 2 levels.
This is one big bedroom consisting of 3 beds. 1 king sized bed with a gel memory foam mattress. Also 2 Ikea trundle single beds that can form into king beds. We have a 32" Roku tv as well as a mini fridge on this level. There is a nice, but small, bathroom with a rain shower head fully stocked with fresh towels and wash clothes. The bottom-level deck has a propane fire pit (propane provided), comfy outdoor chairs, and a hammock.

Parking:
There are a couple of gravel areas on the road that you can park on, but since we are the only cabin on this road, you can park in the street.

This cabin has baseboard heaters and window air units. They are very efficient and can be set to your desired temperature.

Just as expected!!
First time using VRBO and was very nervous but everything was so smooth and easy that my nervousness went away quickly. The home was very clean and was exactly as it was listed. Great location! Loved being able to sit on the deck and hear the water from the river. Very happy with our experience and quick response back with questions we had. Defiantly will recommend!!

Host profile image
Originally from NY, I moved to the coast of NC in 2004. After about a year on the coast, I moved to Charlotte for a few years, but ended up right back at the beach. My husband and I were married in 2014 and shortly after became parents for the first time to a little girl. Fast forward a few more years, and now we're proud the parents of 2 girls! Rounding out the family are 2 rescue pups. The week I initially found out I was pregnant for the first time I also started my career in real estate, which was a lifelong dream of mine. Purchasing this cabin as a second home has fulfilled another dream of mine and I hope to share it with many others.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property in 2019 as an established Airbnb rental from a super host with over 150- 5 star reviews. It was the perfect location for a second home but also knew that others loved it as well.

What makes this property unique

The most unique feature of this house is the 2 separate levels not being joined by interior stairs. It may not work for some, but are perfect for others! We love having guests and giving them their own private room and we know others will love the privacy as well. Although its in a chalet community, there is a ton of privacy.
