It was so nice to be able to take our dogs on vacation. The location was ideal for taking hikes with our dog while our friends dog Sean in the lake all day. Sarah was great at responding to all of my questions.
Great cabin. A/C made it comfortable indoors during a hot week. Awesome location on the lake. Just wish we knew about the giant house right next door overlooking the whole property.
Thanks again for sharing your cottage with us! Everything was as described and the location was perfect. We’re looking forward to returning in the future.
We were in the area for a few days and this was the perfect retreat for us. Relaxing and seamless in every way. Thank you Sarah and Brent for your hospitality. We hope to be able to spend more time there next summer.
We had a great experience. Everything was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Swimming area was rocky so bring swim shoes but the water was beautiful and refreshing. Would stay here again without question.
We had the most magical time at Brent and Sarah’s house for the second year in a row and already looking forward to next year. It is peaceful, lovely, accessible, and charming. I can’t say enough good things.
Fourth time we’ve rented Loons Nest and first time since the pandemic. The house is great and the waterfront is really good for swimming and kayaking ( we rented a kayak from Maine Paddling Connections). Sunsets aren’t too shabby either.
The owners are very pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend.
This was our third year in a row spending most of August at the wonderful Loons nest! Brent and Sarah are great and responsive hosts. The views and water are incomparable and the cabin itself has all of the modern conveniences while maintaining a rustic charm. It is one of our favorite places in the world and hope to be back next year!
It’s a beautiful spot. Great pond is very nice and our family really enjoyed our get away, it was hard to leave! Sarah and Brent were very responsive with any questions or requests. and the property was exactly as advertised. Great weather was a plus! Look forward to the opportunity to rent again next year!
Our stay at Hatch Cove was wonderful. The cabin is spacious with many windows overlooking the lake. The weather was gorgeous 85 and sunny, which didn’t hurt. And listening to the loons at night was enchanting. I reached out to the host a couple times with questions and they were prompt and pleasant.
We absolutely loved this place. Roomy two story cabin with lots of character, space, and exposed wood walls and ceilings, like something your grandparents might have owned. Right on the lake, with a small dock, fire pit, Adirondack chairs, charcoal grill, and covered porch. Excellent, open kitchen and adjoining dining and living room, with a view of the lake. Go swimming, and hear the loons at night.
Great location on the lake, house was clean and perfect for our family of four. We had too put the boat on a mooring which was not preferred but it worked out. We felt like we had everything we needed and the owners live next door in case you need anything.
Expected a rustic camp that is common on the lake but what we found was a wonderfully up-to-date cabin with all the amenities one could hope for. Directly on the water with great sunset views and ample room on the dock for a boat. Wi-fi and cable TV worked flawlessly. All in all we couldn't have asked for a better vacation spot.

Thanks for the review! So glad you had a nice stay.
We wanted a place in my husbands home state that would satisfy this Florida family….we got lucky with the Florida weather upon arrival, but the place was perfect….spacious enough for 7 to live comfortably, the lake view is unbelievable, shallow rocky water for quite a bit out which fave is peace of mind for our kids and dogs while swimming, and a low traffic lake, and did I mention very attentive owners who understood our urgency about WiFi and had the issue fixed immediately so that we could find work life balance when necessary! Great vacation, if possible we will be back next year!

So glad you and your family enjoyed it. Thanks for the review!
First let me say that this property is great for all the major items: Lake location with a dock to launch our kayak, comfortable beds, comfortable living room furniture, a well equiped kitchen, nice outdoor furniture and a good sized firepit. The hosts were easy to work with and responded quickly when we had an issue with the TV.
I only have some minor criticisms on some of the details that were overlooked like a few light bulbs being burned out, the bugs in the light over the dining room table, the broken toilet seat cover in the upstairs bathroom, the charcoal grill filled with ashes and the broken down furniture sitting next to the nice Adirondacks at the fire pit. We really had a wonderful stay here and got some great relaxation in - so beautiful and peaceful.
My husband, twin 4.5 year old daughters, and our seven year old pup were fortunate enough to stay at Brent and Sarah’s Loons Nest cottage for two incredible weeks and cannot recommend it enough.
The cottage itself is lovely; the listing pictures do not do it justice. The kitchen is well-equipped, the living room area is beautiful with bright skylights and fabulous views of the dock and lake. The dock and steps down to the lake were perfectly situated for my family - with the recommended water shoes we could all easily and comfortably get into the clear, warm (while we were there) water for swimming, floating, kayaking, etc.
The back porch, picnic table, and fire pit were wonderful. Having the laundry room right on the first floor was very helpful and the downstairs bedroom is so serene. The upstairs bedrooms were also great and comfortable and we very appreciated having fans in the second bedroom, and window unit ac in the primary bedroom. Both bathrooms were good, the downstairs stall shower was key for washing off after the lake and really nice to have that laundry right next to the shower to toss in wet bathing suits and towels. We were in the lake at least twice a day for all but one day during our stay when it was raining.
While staying here we saw three eagles flying around together, many loons, shooting stars, went to an amazing state fair, participated in a loon calling contest, went to the town’s annual bean hole supper, and just generally reveled in the wonder that is the lake, town, and surrounding areas.
Brent and Sarah could not have been nicer. They were very helpful whenever we had a question and just generally good people.
Lastly, every single night there we saw the most amazing sunsets we had ever seen until the next night. We completely fell in love with Great Pond, the Belgrade lakes region, and will be back again and again.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Great location, property needs updates
Upon arrival we were notified that one of the 2 toilets wasn't working. This was not the owner's fault and they did everything they could (especially with the labor shortage) to get a plumber there and communicate proactively. So kudos on that!
Pros of the property - water clarity is beautiful, house is big and location on Hatch Cove is really nice. Great for walking and for kids to bike. Loved listening to the loons and paddling around the lake. For renters with a boat, great mooring access. Easy trash (many rentals do not have trash pickup). Dog allowed, which we appreciated.
Cons of the property - furniture and beds need updating, house is very tired (cracked tiles and rusty radiators). The water is very low in the lake and so getting into the water is quite difficult (water shoes are a MUST). The owners roped off the only place to safely and comfortably launch a kayak or paddle board. The dock pictured is large but the actual dock is a 3' wide metal dock only that 3 of our 4 people fell off while there. There are very narrow steps down into the lake that are not kid friendly. There also were not enough seats for everyone to be outside, but thankfully we brought our own. The kitchen had 6 forks, so we mostly used plastic.
We own our own VRBO rental and so I appreciate all the work that goes into maintaining a property, especially in a summer when help is really hard to find. If a visitor doesn't care about these things I mentioned, the house will be just fine. We just had higher expectations. Little things like decent towels and enough forks go a long way when other things go wrong. With just a few updates and comforts, this house could be really GREAT.
