About this property
Henry's Fork Retreat, stunning river views, footpath to river
Cabin at Henry's Fork. 4.6 wooded acres, treasured quiet retreat on the world famous Henry's Fork of the Snake River. Wildlife is plentiful along the river, and in nearby water fowl preserves, which is a rare opportunity to enjoy viewing wildlife right at the cabin and it's pristine, quiet setting surrounded by Forest Service land, when the crowds at Yellowstone National Park during peak summer months for visitors make wildlife viewing more difficult. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, small, simple cabin built in 1978. Just 1400 square feet, on 4.6 private wooded acres of lodgepole pine, and wild flowers. Amazing river views from the wall of windows facing east to the river, and from the main level and east bedroom decks. free Wifi. Access to the river is north of the cabin 50 feet, a simple, old foot path through the trees, north of the ancient lava flow. More information in the cabin handbook, about current river conditions, boat access points near by, and the surrounding forest service land perfect for wildlife viewing amongst the native wild flowers and water fowl preserves. No hunting allowed. Please respect the pristine setting, and quiet neighbors. For boat and canoe river access use an established boat launch nearby. The river bank is about 200 feet away from the cabin. New floors, new carpet, new natural stone fireplace surround. New drywall in main living area. We enjoy hosting guests who respect the simple peace and quiet of the setting at Henry's Fork as much as we do. Three bedrooms have queen mattresses, two are Serta Perfect Sleepers with memory foam toppers, the third is a Serta icomfort with a memory foam topper. Twin bunk bed in the fourth bedroom. Kitchen table seats 6. Seating for 2 at kitchen counter. Bear proof garbage bins provided. Please keep all trash, especially scented items or food related items, bagged securely to contain odors and food smells, in the bear proof garbage bins provided, away from the cabin. Do not leave food wrappers or scented items outside unattended. Please read full bathroom descriptions and see photos before booking. Main level bath has full size tub and shower, standard size. We have based river view, four bedroom cabin nightly rates on only one full size shower because upstairs bathroom shower head is low, best for children's baths (small tub) or seated showers. On our acrage there is also one two person Canoe and three kayaks (singles, two adult, one child size) For the best learning experience and expert knowledge, hire a guide. Fly fishing guides and fly shops in the Island Park area have a long reputation of friendly service and exceptional knowledge. . . Fully equipped kitchen (bring your own food). Dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer. Propane grill. New circle sawn Douglas fir floors with high quality German finish designed to look like bare wood and preserve and protect the wood's natural rustic texture and beauty. Please leave shoes on the rug provided at the door. Overnight lows remain in the 50s all summer long. Most guests prefer open windows to enjoy the fresh mountain air. Upstairs bedrooms also have AC installed. We had a problem with a guest accidentally opening the old small chimney door. We sealed the old chimney door, converted to propane, and disinfected carefully. Then professionally cleaned. Has been disinfected and cleaned several times since then. Please make sure doors are not left open, store food carefully and clean up spills immediately. If you have disabled or wheel chair dependent in your group, or if you struggle at all with stairs, please be aware that there are stairs built in the 70s, (old OSHA standards for rise and run) There are two bedrooms on the main level. We recommend using only the main level, for those with mobility issues or those who feel unsteady climbing stairs. Surrounded by geological sites and pristine wooded river frontage. . . . Yellowstone is just 45 minutes away, yet only 20 minutes to Dave's Jubilee, Ashton's fully stocked full service grocery store, to the south, and Ashton's 511 Main for amazing salads and sandwiches. Locals also love Big Judd's in Ashton. Or stop at Sam Patch Co. Grocery and Sundries, for groceries and household items, to the north on the way to Yellowstone. Last Chance General Store also carries most household items. World class dining and fly fishing expertise within walking/biking distance at Henry's Fork Lodge, fine dining just a ten minute walk up the road (by land). A drive along Mesa Falls Scenic Byway, to see Upper Mesa Falls, is breathtaking (off highway 20, just ten minutes north.) Also close by, Mac's Inn at Big Springs (remember to visit Jonny Sack's cabin on the spring) kayak, canoe, paddle board, raft rentals with a shuttle included; The Parlor (New York style Pizza and Icecream), Mac's Inn Playhouse (Yellowstone Playhouse at Island Park), Harriman State Park trail system (much less crowded then Yellowstone, so more opportunity to see wildlife) Island Park trail system, Island Park reservoir, Henry's Lake, all close by. To the south, off of Highway 20, are the St Anthony Sand Dunes and also further south is Yellowstone Bear World. A rare experience, to safely see grizzly, black bear, from inside your vehicle. (Fly into Idaho Falls, and stop at Bear World, just south of Rexburg, on your way to or from Island Park) Also kayak and boat rentals available close by in both Island Park and in Ashton. Locals enjoy Frost Top, classic drive in, 20 minute drive south, classic drive in menu and huckleberry shakes. Big Judd's, also popular with locals, next to Phillips gas station. When you go to Yellowstone don't forget to spend some time in West Yellowstone, the Grizzly and Wolf discovery center, Yellowstone Park Zipline, Playmill theater, the Imax, or try whitewater rafting on the Gallatin. So much to explore you will want to come back again soon. . . Enjoy the peace and quiet of 4.6 private acres at a world renowned destination for trout fishing. Updated photos to follow. Beautiful scenery, great location. I have been trying to stay in a cabin with actual river access and this one did. Deck was nice to relax on. We loved it. Owner was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. Glad you enjoyed Henry's Fork and the greater Yellowstone area. So pristine. Hope you all can come again. It can be difficult to find affordable riverfront lodging, possibly because of the flood plain and associated risks and costs. Being above the flood plain is amazing, and the view of the river changes constantly from day to day, always something new to enjoy.
Beautiful cabin. Pristine scenery. Host was friendly & knowledgeable. Excellent communication. Host also offered multiple resources and informative links for activities in the area. Quick to respond. 10 out of 10 will stay again. Thanks Linda, we'll see you next year!

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. Super appreciate it!! Gorgeous photos too! Wow!! Looks like you all had some beautiful weather for Harriman State Park and Yellowstone. Did you have time to see Mesa Falls yet? They are beautiful. If you enjoy seeing Bear, albino Elk, various wildlife in a very close to natural setting, try stopping at Yellowstone Bear World, a drive through wildlife Park, just south of Rexburg, north of Idaho Falls along highway 20. Also fun to learn about Wolves and birds of prey, bear safety, so forth, at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery center in West Yellowstone. Very educational first hand experience.
This cozy cabin on the river was perfect for what our family was looking for. A home away from home that we could relax at if we chose to for the day or close enough to things that we didn’t have to spend too much time in the car. Its close proximity to Yellowstone, Teton National park and many other attractions was one of the reasons we chose to stay here. The hostess was so sweet and very timely in responding if we had questions. Highly recommend this place and hope to visit again soon!!

Extremely pleased. It’s gorgeous and sooooo peaceful!! Linda is amazing, friendly and thoughtful. (That means ALOT coming from a Texan, lol). We will be back!
Great cabin, fantastic location, really nice onsite lava flow adjacent to the house, easy access to the Henry's Fork, Henry's Fork Lodge. Far enough from the road and everyone else to really enjoy it. Linda is the best host, a lovely lady, helped with some complex issues beyond the scope of what anyone would have expected.

Quiet simplicity. Beautiful windows overlooking the Snake River. Great for wildlife viewing.
This simple house provided a great landing pad for the two days that we visited Yellowstone. We also recommend visiting Mesa Falls for a 2.5 mile hike and viewing of some powerful waterfalls downstream on the Snake. Comfortable beds with memory foam toppers and quality sheets and pillows.

My family and I had a great stay here. Loved the seclusion, and being able to access the river so easily. The house was clean and stocked with anything we could possibly need. The centralized location made our trips to Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and Mesa Falls very easy.
Linda answered any questions we had very quickly. Hoping this place is available on our next trip! I highly recommend!
