The home was spacious and had a lot of historic character, and it fit our group. It has beautiful old details and a dramatic, spooky historic mansion feel, which we actually enjoyed. However, the stay had several avoidable issues.The listing was for an “entire home” with 4 bedrooms, sleeps 10, and 5 bathrooms. Additional bedrooms shown in listing photos were open and accessible at check-in. Shortly before check-in, the host sent a message saying those rooms were not included and that new cleaners had failed to close them off; we did not see the message until checkout. After the stay, the host sent a 471.62 payment request for a “6BR fee,” which Vrbo Support confirmed I was not obligated to pay. Off-limits areas should be locked, labeled, blocked off, or clearly excluded before arrival.The interior upkeep felt uneven, with capped exposed wiring, missing glass panes on built-ins, missing tiles, mismatched sconces, and replacement wood that did not match surrounding stained wood. The listed garden space was also very overgrown, with plants roughly person-height, and nearby closed-off areas looked like unfinished renovation/storage spaces.We also noticed rainwater entering the basement at checkout, which the host acknowledged may have been from a disconnected downspout.Communication was polite, but the property setup, maintenance concerns, and post-stay charge request created unnecessary stress.

Gorgeous property

We rented this property for our wedding rehearsal dinner, as well as lodging for some wedding party members through the weekend. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful kitchen, the large terrace off the bedroom on the second floor. My niece loved staying in the pink bedroom. It was the perfect place for our purposes, and worth every penny!

Huge house works great for large groups

It's an older homes with some of the funkiness of older homes (no bathroom on the ground floor), but over all it was comfortable and people had room to spread out. It's location near uptown and downtown is an advantage.

Beautiful Home in Beautiful Neighborhood

The photos don't do this home justice. It's an incredible space with tons of unique rooms and detailing. It's close to Uptown which made it easy to walk to anything at night. Would recommend.

Great VRBO!!

We were in town for a Vikings game and wanted to stay somewhere close to downtown. The house is beautiful and had a ton of bedrooms. The wood detail is incredible and was fun to imagine living there when it was built in 1903. We had everything we needed and the check in was great! Awesome communication from host. Would highly recommend.

Overall pretty nice. Wanted to BBQ but ran out of propane and had no grill tools. Advertised as non-smoking but could smell smoke coming from another part of the property. Kitchen pots and pans in very bad shape, rusty. Particle board in parts of the porch and laundry room. Very much a work in progress but will be nice once it's finished.

Thanks Janet! Sorry about BBQ. Had we known would have connected a new one right away :-). Grill Tools (tongs, spatula etc.) are in the center island drawers in the kitchen. We had contractors working on other parts of the property recently and it may have been residual. Will re-advise off site folks of policy. Pots and Pans are hardened aluminum (Calphalon) so shouldn't happen, but will look into it. The flake board in the laundry room is an element our interior designer added 25+ years ago. It is stained alternating colors and finished with polyurethane. Thanks again, Take Good Care!

Knives Out!

There are many facets to this funky house that reminded us of the movie Knives Out. So many unusual doors that lead nowhere and all the wonderful hardwood everywhere! Of course there are pros & cons. Great kitchen, living room & dining area. (Loved the piano!) Master bedroom was awesome! There isn’t a shower in one of the bathrooms as advertised. We wish we could have utilized the whole front porch area. And the stuff in the yard needs to be removed. (Quite unattractive) All and all. we had a wonderful time!

Unique old house!

This is a cool old historical house from 1903?, that has enough modernization to be an awesome hybrid in an rejuvenating neighborhood. You feel like what it might have been like to live there in a previous past. Walking distance to Eat Street and other interesting finds around. Our favs were Lowery and Christos. Pretty sure Christo sat us and gave us our waters.? Plenty of bars and music. Yet we were 2 fams, 4 under 10. We didn’t do the single/no kid thing and we all had a great time. But understand this isn’t a TOTAL family friendly hood (bubble). It’s not Disneyland. It’s real life. Enjoy it. We did.
