LIKE A VISION REMEMBERED FROM A BEAUTIFUL DREAM...
Stonewood Lodge, inside and out, surrounds you with a magnificent natural setting. Imagine overlooking the tranquil, deeply shaded woods with towering evergreen and hardwood trees that offer a feeling of quiet solitude. Walk along and delight in the sights and sounds of a pristine, rushing MOUNTAIN STREAM JUST 20 STEPS FROM THE LODGE. Renew your serenity and spirit through the natural beauty surrounding you...creating a karma...a feeling...a mood...of being 'In the mountains, away from it all"...close to nature...relaxing and peaceful...but at the same time invigorating and rejuvenating!!
This majestic, stone, colonial mountain home was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's concept of 'Organic Architecture' featuring PURE-ORGANIC building materials from the earth: STONE and WOOD...the essence of Stonewood Lodge! Hand built from 250 tons of split and shaped natural, native stone. Finished in a 'Craftsman Style' with gorgeous, indigenous PENNSYLVANIA HARDWOODS HARVESTED FROM THE PROPERTY. The metaphor of permanence resonates in an authentic 'Built by Owner' style reminiscent of an era gone by.
The home's interior living space was designed to bring elements of Nature indoors. Wild Black Cherry, White Sugar Maple and Red Oak were used throughout the Lodge to create custom cabinetry, unique furniture and finish every ceiling and wall including bathrooms, mudrooms, every closet and even the garage! Not one drop of stain was used to alter the 'real' color and grain of the wood in order to reveal its beautifully deep and rich natural patina! The total effect enhances visual pleasure and aesthetics...AS IF VIEWING A WORK OF ART BY MOTHER NATURE!
This impressive resort home is truly without equal...a unique blend of opulent refinement and rustic charm designed to delight and transport you beyond the ordinary, mundane stresses of modern life. The Lodge offers top of the line KITCHEN AID appliances, CUSTOM CABINETRY and GRANITE counter tops in both kitchens and all six bathrooms! TWO 50 inch SAMSUNG PLASMA TV's! Sundance Optima Hot Tub with night lights and waterfall; BRUNSWICK Pool Table w/All BRUNSWICK Accessories! TWO BOSE Stereo Systems! S/S JENN-AIRE gas grill! Beautiful professional landscaping with over 75 ornamental trees! Premium 100% NATURAL CORK flooring!

Jim and Suzanne were wonderful hosts and the lodge was beautiful! We really enjoyed watching the snow and birds from the house. All of the spaces were well appointed and so cozy to return to after long days skiing, We’d love to visit again!
We had a wonderful stay at Stonewood Lodge!! We stayed here during the holidays and absolutely loved this property. Jim & Suzanne were exceptional hosts. The house was immaculate and stocked with everything we needed for our group. Thank you for the great memories!! We are looking forward to seeing you again.
Jim is an awesome host. Great communication, especially since the weather was going to be severe. He cared about our stay and our safety. The home is amazing, beautiful inside and out, and all the amenities we needed to enjoy a great trip. We highly recommend this rental. We will be back.
We had a wonderful stay at the Stonewood Lodge. We were there in Feb 2026, the place was immaculate, we loved the bear/lake theme and the connectedness to nature. The pool table/hangout room in the basement was a source of a lot of fun family time for all ages. We had 6 adults, 5 children (aged 8-10) staying there and there was plenty of room for all of us. We were a quick hop over to Seven Springs for skiing but clearly with the # of bikes and other spring/summer things in the garage — any season is good here! Thanks for an amazing stay!
The host met us when we arrived. The house was warmed up and so beautiful. We had 12 adults and the house was spacious and well equipped. Two coffee pots was a nice extra touch. We cooked all weekend and the kitchen had everything we needed. This place was beautiful and we will likely stay here again. Don’t miss out on this gem!
We stayed here last year and loved it so came back for another great weekend! It is a large house, very clean and nice, had everything we needed. The kids enjoyed the basement game room. We loved the hot tub after a day of skiing. The owners are nearby and made sure we got situated. Highly recommend this home
Our extended family stayed at this property over the holidays and had a wonderful vacation! The house is beautiful and the owners were very kind and helpful during our stay. The property is incredibly well maintained with everything you could need.
We spent our days skiing at Seven Springs, which was very convenient, and hiking in the state park. I would highly recommend this for a family vacation. The only negative was the lack of internet and cell phone service, which the owners clearly state in their description.
This is a beautiful property. The house is gorgeous and well appointed with upgraded appliances and well stocked with the necessary essentials. The owners were wonderful and so helpful when we had questions. The canoes were close by and the lake was perfect for young children. We enjoyed the fire pit immensely. Just be aware that there is no cell service or internet if that is a necessity.

We appreciate the kind words from these
guests; however, we would like to add some
clarification concerning phone service at the
Lodge.
First, we provide a land line phone in the Lodge
for local calls. So, there is 24/7, reliable access
for emergency calls: 911, hospital, police, tow
truck, etc...as well as local businesses and
activities: Giant Eagle grocery delivery,
restaurant takeout, both ski resorts,
Seven Springs and Hidden Valley, etc. Also, if needed,
long distance calls can be made collect.
Concerning wireless cell service, our family
uses both AT&T and Verizon and has always
been able to find connectivity if not in the home, outside on the deck, the front patio or the driveway. This is the first time since we opened that a group claimed to have no cell service at all.
Our concern is that some of the smaller
wireless companies do not have coverage in
our area. So, we can't vouch for wireless service beyond AT&T and Verizon.
Thank you.
We enjoyed the house and all its amenities. It was well Laid out & we really loved the campfire site. We biked, swam, fished, had spa times, sat by campfire, made mountain pies & hot dogs, watched movies had lots of coffee & family time. It was just what
This property had it all except Internet - but that was known going in and was a godsend for unplugging and having uninterrupted time to work on some safety training video recording and team building time. If you need Internet at this property you can get it from exterior to the house at a variety of locations, but not inside. The space and amenities are excellent - and I would certainly stay here again. It's remote and tranquil - an excellent place to bond with family and friends or even coworkers in our case.
The house was very nice, clean, and had plenty of space for the 2 families that went on our ski trip. Owners were friendly and helpful. We plan to come back!
What a beautiful house built by the owner Jim! Accommodations were great and the owner Jim helped us out big time with getting into the house during a winter storm. The wildlife at the house will keep you entertained for sure. We saw turkeys, various other birds, and a ton of deer (40+ on one night) on the property. We could not of had a better time and appreciate everything Jim and Suzanne did to make it happen.
Stonewood Lodge is a wonderful property and served as a great place for our family to catch up with old friends and their children. Jim and Sue are fantastic hosts in all respects -- super friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable about the area, etc. The location near the ski resorts is a plus, but there is so much to do around the property, that we rarely left!
We stayed as a family of eight (8) to celebrate a birthday. Great lodge, very clean with plenty of room for all to spread out. The owners were very helpful with easy and responsive communications. Although our weather was not the best, the lodge is in a beautiful setting with a wonderful firepit area.
We had a great time celebrating with family in this super clean location. Space was great for extended family, other than some of the exposed 1/2 bath areas we were all able to have our own space to relax. We made use of the fire pit daily and enjoyed exploring the trails right in the back yard!
We were a small group of adult couples celebrating our 30th anniversaries. Stone Lodge is an absolutely beautiful, welcoming space to gather, play, enjoy nature, and find quiet private spaces when desired. The house design is stunning, exceptionally clean, anticipates every need with detail, and located close to trails, lake, and state parks, while easy to get to from the turnpike. Provision of canoes, bikes, fire pit, and trail access made outdoor activities easy and relaxed. Our friends loved it and just said “wow!” We could access our texts, internet, email or download when outside (Eg. Balcony, driveway) so not a major issue. Great weekend. Hosts were available and helpful. Thank you!
First time to the Laurel Highlands. Property centrally located in a beautiful mountain setting. Very well maintained - canoes easily accessed a couple miles away. Several nice living areas and outdoor space. Property owners were in a separate facility on premises - very accommodating and just delightful.
Jim and Susanne are amazing hosts. The house is immaculate. House comes with Linens , towels, full fledge kitchen, Canoes and bikes. It has nice firewood place and hot tub outside. The location is great, by the woods. you can bike or hike around. Close to highways.
Great location and house for my Dad's 80th Birthday
Great location and house for my Dad's 80th Birthday for the entire family of 12. House was just the right size - could all be together in one room or doing things independently throughout the house.
The property was perfect for my extended family. We were looking for a place where we could just get together and hang out since we haven't been together since Covid began. The property was perfect and the fact there was no wi-fi was an added plus for us as the 5 teenagers were more than happy to hike, fish, bike ride and just be present with the family. There was so much to explore and do as well as just being able to stay at the house and have a family meal and campfire.
Jim and Suzanne were great hosts! Happy to help when we had a question and even made sure we had what we needed for our family pizza night! Great Property!
Wonderful stay over the long weekend. Jim and Suzanne are great hosts, they live on the property and we're available for questions but we're not obtrusive at all. House is beautiful, super clean and well stocked. Lovely hot tub and firepit. Abuts the state park so very quiet and serene. Was also great with kids. Close to fallingwater and kentuck knob. Internet a little spotty but other than that a perfect getaway. We would love to visit again.
We spent 4 nights at the Stonewood Lodge in early April and absolutely loved it. The trip was rather spontaneous and boy were we lucky to find it. The lodge and property are every bit as beautiful as the pictures suggest and everyone from age 11 to 44 had a great time, with plenty to do. This was our first real family trip during COVID times and we couldn’t have picked a better place to go! There are countless activities for families and/or groups looking to enjoy the outdoors or to simply kick back and relax by the fire pit, hot tub, library, deck, loft, bar, pool table... In terms of cleanliness, I’m not sure it could get much better.
The owners live in a second home on the property and are incredibly welcoming and accessible. Being that they live there, we saw them several times and had some great conversations. However, there was never too much owner presence - just enough to ensure we knew they really were there if we needed something or had a question.
We loved our stay and can’t wait to return. The only potential improvement is to bring Grandma and Grandpa and the cousins next time!
Jim and Suzanne were absolutely amazing hosts, and their property/house is simply stunning. The pictures don’t even do it justice. Our stay was filled with everything we could have ever needed and more. Incredibly thoughtful and kind hosts.
