About this property
El Olivar - A Magnificent Villa in Umbria
Villa El Olivar is a 300 sq. metre, 4 bedroom 3.5 bathroom house that sleeps 8 people. It is situated on 11 acres (4.3 hectares) of private land with a working olive grove of 80 trees and features a 120 sq. metre patio and an 8 x 5 metre pool. There is robust WIFI throughout the entire house and on the patio. You do not share the villa with strangers. You are renting the entire house and grounds for your private use.
Villa El Olivar's 11 acres of private property is an oasis of tall stately pine trees, long expanses of rosemary hedges, a variety of flowers and lavender bushes, and a large grove of olive trees. In the largely rural area of Umbria, you will feel insulated from the busy world while still enjoying easy access to Rome, Florence, Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Spoleto, Orvieto, and Montefalco, great places to eat that are all close by, and a multitude of medieval hilltop towns.
The villa's 120 sq. meter outside patio overlooks the Tiber River and affords you spectacular views of an expansive and lush Umbrian valley. The patio has a breakfast nook, lounge furniture, a dining table for 8, and an excellent gas BBQ grill.
The house is well appointed with silk curtains from Jim Thompson in Thailand, comfortable furniture, and furnishings that are a mixture of both modern and country. Both the ground floor and lower floor have large living rooms with fireplaces, easy access outside, smoke & carbon monoxide detectors, and SONOS wireless speakers so that you can play your favorite Spotify playlists.. The lower floor living room also has a bar area, a TV with Netflix, YouTube, and a large number of local channels. There is robust WIFI throughout the entire house.
The 4 bedrooms are large and bright. 2 rooms have king-size beds, 1 room has a queen size bed, and 1 room has 2 single beds. The bedding is high-quality Egyptian cotton, with goose down / feather pillows. For the cold months, there are Alpaca wool comforters that are light, warm, and hypoallergenic
There are 3 large bathrooms with showers and 1 "powder room" with a toilet and sink. The villa has a water softener that treats the hard water so that showering is enjoyable and good for your skin. A 1000-litre hot water tank ensures that you have all the hot water you need.
The bright, spacious kitchen is fully equipped with a large island, double refrigerators, a dishwasher, oven & stove, microwave, expresso machine, and all of the cookware and tableware you will need. This is a kitchen for people who enjoy cooking. The food processor, blender, juicing machine, pots, cast iron pans, plates, bowls, and silverware are all of high quality, and the stove, oven, double refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave are all quality brands known for their dependability and ease of use. You have the option of setting a casual table for everyday use or one that would be perfect for a classy and more formal special occasion. There is also a top-of-the-line reverse osmosis water filtration system located at the sink in the kitchen that provides you with ultra-safe purified drinking water so that you don't have to rely on bottled water.
There is a new and brightly lit laundry room with a washer and dryer, sink, vacuum cleaner, ironing board, and drying rack. There are clotheslines outside just off the end of the patio.
The 8x5 meter swimming pool is located on one end of the olive grove and has a covered cabana area, large 2-person pool beds, and lounge chairs with umbrellas. There is a shower attached to an olive tree right next to the cabana. There is also a large vegetable garden near the pool and guests are welcome to pick and enjoy what the garden has to offer during their stay.
There is ample parking on the grounds for up to 6 vehicles.

About the host
Hosted by Kenneth Francis Schunk & Veronica C Wyatt
We are Veronica and Ken, husband and wife and the owners of Villa El Olivar.
Like any relationship ours is as much a story about “the road traveled” as it is about us.
After an initial trip to Italy, we were convinced that we needed to return...which we did..again and again and again. All those things you read about in the travel guides were reasons for us to go back...the people, history, culture, food, wine, the way of life, and each experience moved us a bit further along the continuum from….could we live here?...to…. should we live here?.....to…..We need to live here!
Umbria surprised us...it has wonderful medieval hilltop towns off the tourist trail that make you feel relaxed and unhurried as well as more well-known places like Orvieto, Assisi, Spoleto, Montefalco, Perugia, and Spello which still feel authentic while inviting you to wander, explore and learn their history. The people seem down to earth, hard-working, and appreciative of the lives they have, and being in the green heart of Italy the fresh produce, olive oil, cheeses, and meat we enjoyed each day spoke to leading a healthy lifestyle and the chance to simplify our lives.
Now that we call Italy home, it gives us great pleasure to have you staying at El Olivar and our wish for you is that you will enjoy the experience, feel you are someplace special, and be inspired to return...again and again and again.
