About this property

159 Jasmine is a cute cottage located on a quiet street within Lakeside Chautauqua; steps away from the lake and Ohio's Most Beautiful Mile; one block from Central Park, beach and downtown; and 20 min drive to Put-in-Bay ferries. Its most distinctive feature is a large wrap around porch with a lake view and plenty of seating. The original cottage was built in 1878 and renovated in 2020/21. As part of the renovation, we enclosed the porch and added AC/heat for year-round comfort. Also important is that it has a downstairs bedroom (with king bed) and brand new master ensuite with easy step-in shower. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a full bath with tub. The upstairs front bedroom has a queen bed. The upstairs back bedroom has a queen bed and twin bunk beds. The middle bedroom has a double. Each upstairs bedroom has its own mini-split AC/heat unit. Downstairs is a newly renovated kitchen, dining room, living room and half bathroom. Living room has a queen sofa sleeper. The downstairs has central AC/heat. Laundry room has washer/dryer and food pantry. Tankless heater provides endless hot water. Children Welcome. No Pets. No Smoking. Space to park two cars in front of the cottage. Outdoor gas grill. Check-in Time is 4 pm. Check-out Time is 10 am. Please note that you need to bring your own sheets, towels & linens. Also PLEASE NOTE that during Chautauqua Season, Lakeside charges daily gate fee per guest and parking fee per car. Gate fees support the Lakeside entertainment program and Staff such as lifeguards at the beach and pool or attendants at shuffleboard, tennis/pickle-ball center. Additionally, there are other policies (such as no open alcohol in public spaces). For more information, please see Lakeside Chautauqua website (lakesideohio.com). During Chautauqua Season, full week rentals are from Saturday to Saturday. Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends available. Reduced rates before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.

Family Get Away

Great location..... close to the lake, conveniently located near restaurants and activities, yet quiet and relaxing as it was out of the hustle and bustle. Loved sitting on the front porch with family, catching up and playing games. Owners were very responsive and easy to contact with questions. We plan to be back!!!

Family Vacation at Lakeside

This home has been beautifully updated. I was a little nervous about the porch and 2nd floor bedrooms having individual split AC systems. I wasn’t sure the whole house would feel air conditioned. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the home felt as if it had central air. Our multigenerational family of 11 shared this home & we all loved it and hope to rent it again next year! The extra half bath off the living/dining area was key. All 3 bathrooms are very new, the open kitchen is ideal, and the first floor master with en-suite puts this rental home above so many others in the Lakeside community. The washer, dryer, outdoor side patio with tables & grill, plus the 3 bikes are all huge bonuses. It’s really neat to stay in a house that dates back to 1878, but wonderfully, the interior finishes make it hard to believe that the home is almost 150 years old!

Our best Lakeside Rental!

This place was so perfect for our family during our stay at Lakeside! It is an amazing location, very clean, great amenities, and overall a 5 star rating. Communication with the owners was easy. We had no issues during our stay. We will definitely be back and would love to rent this wonderful house again. Thank you to the Stahl’s for such a great place!

Karen and Phil Stahl grew up in Bellevue Ohio and currently live in Huntsville Alabama. Karen is a retired 8th grade Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. Phil designs and builds space telescopes for NASA - including the Webb Space Telescope. We have three children and 4 grand-children (hoping for more). We like to travel the world – particularly Europe – yet feel deeply rooted to Ohio. Our families have been here since the 1800s and we and our children attended college here: Wittenberg, Ohio State, Miami, Wittenberg and Denison. When we lived in Connecticut, every summer we took our kids to ‘Family Camp’ at Camp Quinipet on Shelter Island. Now, we are looking forward to sharing Lakeside with our Grand-Children.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Lakeside several years ago and purchased Blue Jasmine at 140 Jasmine in 2017. When 159 Jasmine came available (across the street), we could not resist. It is very cute, has a great sitting porch. Its first floor bedroom is a convenience. And the first block of Jasmine is the best location in Lakeside - quite location close to the lake; close to Central Park with its play ground, putt-putt, shuffle board and band stand; close to downtown shopping, restaurants, ice cream and Orchestra Hall movie theater. But most important is the Lakeside Chautauqua with its organized activities and programs for all ages. See their website for details.

What makes this property unique

After buying 159 Jasmine, we completely renovated it. We literally ripped the middle out of the house and rebuilt the kitchen, added an en-suite to the primary bedroom, added a new upstairs bed room and full bath, and created a half bath and laundry.
