Mountain Retreat Awesome Stay
Our multi generational stay at the Jacksonville Mountain retreat was great. Our family of 10 had all the room we could ever need and fantastic views of the nature around us. The kitchen is GREAT, room for everyone to gather and the hangout spaces fit our family perfectly. The kids had a blast in the downstairs area with bunk beds and games etc.
We all enjoyed our stay and it was nice being in the Madrone forest but only 10 minutes to town.

Disliked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
To begin, the house was suitable in size and amenities for our family's stay. However there were less than suitable occurrences while we were there. We could not unlock the house on arrival. The door lock would not accept the code were given. We had to wait in 100 degree heat for the host to respond and finally reset the code. All of the sliding glass doors are nearly inoperable because of track rollers that need to be cleaned and/or replaced. The kids in our group could not open the doors themselves. And one of the doors has a broken lock mechanism. The outdoor garbage bins which we had been told are picked up every Monday had not been emptied when we arrived on Thursday. There was no place to dispose of the full garbage bags from the house. Next, the refrigerator ice maker did not work properly. When we tried to get cubes, chunks of frost spewed out. This was caused by a huge build up of frost in the ice cube receptacle. Cleaning of the ice maker had obviously not been done in a long time.Because of the ice frost spewing onto the floor, we had to constantly wipe up. We found that the the floor was disgustingly dirty. The white cloths provided as rags were black with dirt by the time we were finished mopping.Last, after returning home, I was asked to authenticate a 170 charge. I twice contacted the host and asked what the charge was for but received no answer. I have now been charged the 170 and still have no idea what this is for.

Thank you for your feedback. We do want to clarify several points for future guests reading this review.
At check-in, the guest contacted us at 4:53 PM after having difficulty accessing the home due to entering the code incorrectly. We responded at 4:55 PM and asked her to retry the provided code. She successfully entered the home at 4:57 PM using that same code. The code did not need to be reset or changed.
The only other concern communicated to us during the stay involved the outdoor garbage bins. A group of guests had checked out earlier that same day, so there was naturally some trash already in the exterior bins. Both large bins still had available capacity at check-in, which was documented by our cleaning team. We have no concern with guests filling the available bins during their stay. However, by the end of this three-night reservation, both bins were completely full and approximately 10 additional extra-large black trash bags had been left in the garage, requiring an additional dump run.
We were surprised to read the additional concerns regarding the sliding doors, door lock, ice maker, and floors, as none of these issues were reported to us at any point during the stay. After receiving this review, our team inspected the sliding doors and locking mechanisms, and all were functioning properly. We do, of course, recommend that children be supervised by an adult when accessing outdoor areas.
Our cleaning team also documented the ice maker functioning properly prior to the guest’s arrival. Likewise, the hardwood floors are thoroughly cleaned as part of every turnover. These are natural hardwood floors with grooves and texture, so after three days of use by a larger group, debris can become visible in those areas. Had any concern about the floors, ice maker, doors, or locks been reported during the stay, we would have been happy to inspect and address it immediately.
Regarding the $170 mentioned in the review, this was not an unexplained additional charge. It was a deduction from the guest’s security deposit for additional cleaning and waste disposal following checkout. Glitter was found extensively throughout the home and required additional time and labor from our cleaning team to remove. In addition, approximately 10 extra-large black trash bags were left in the garage after both large exterior bins had already been completely filled. A couple of additional bags would not have been an issue; however, this quantity of excess waste following a three-night stay was well beyond a normal amount and required a separate dump run.
We take guest concerns seriously and always want the opportunity to address issues when they arise. Unfortunately, the majority of the concerns described in this review were never communicated to us during the three-night stay, so we were not given an opportunity to inspect or resolve them at the time.
The property was wonderful for a group getaway, with many comfortable bedrooms and large, open communal spaces. While we were on a girl's trip, we'd absolutely consider coming back with the families as well.
This is a lovely home. A great place for large families to gather and enjoy each other. Very spacious and a great lay out. This was our second time staying here and we love it!
Loved the house. Being able to have a private room for each of us so nice. We loved the spaciousness and also the big table, couch, and kitchen. There were a few things that we would like to mention though to help improve the future stays for all.1) there were not enough forks-only 7 and there were 6 of us2) the curtain rod in the primary bedroom came apart when the guest was trying to open the curtains-needs to be secured better.3) the hot tub was not hot-it was nice and warm but no more than a nice bath. We did not use it for that reason4) the pool really was not swimmable-we were warned right before we arrived that maintenance issues were causing the water to be murky but it was safe to swim in but it was not at all inviting so we did not use it.5) for those of us who slept downstairs, it would have been nice to have some type of bar to put in the bottom of the windows so they could be opened at night and feel safe. There are no fans and the fresh air was very welcome. I jerry-rigged some hangers to put in the window slots so the window could only be opened a few inches. It is so easy to get the bars to just throw in the slots as needed. Hope that helps. Otherwise, a great place to stay!!!

Perfect summer get away place for our family. Our time coincided with the hottest temps of the summer so far. Everyone loved having the pool to cool off in. It was a great stay!
Host is very responsive and instructions are clear.Bonus of mountain wildlife and quietness of location a gem.Comfortable accommodations and everything was well stocked for us. Internet/wifi excellent for streaming 8K movie and connecting our devices.
We loved our stay at the property! The house and pool and hot tub were all wonderful! Easy access to many activities and restaurants. The driveway is a steep hill and the property lacks a yard for kids to play in, but everything else made up for that.
This large home was perfect for our group. Great proximity to Jacksonville. It was clean and well appointed with some kitchen supplies too. We loved it!
The house was very welcoming with all of the amenities needed for a home away from home feel. The hot tub was amazing and the beds were comfortable. There was a lot pf space to mingle as a group and also have some quiet time. We will definitely stay here again.
Very well equipped kitchen! Good for hosting large families. Surprised by the long, steep drive to house. But biggest surprise was when the small black bear poked his nose at the back door and climbed fence surrounding pool for a drink. Fun to watch,
Beautiful property with great amenities and close to food and shopping in Jacksonville. Had a great ladies retreat with family and made many amazing memories!
