About this property

Beautiful South Lake Tahoe Meadow View Chalet. Dog Friendly. AC

Meadow View is a recently renovated and well-appointed three-bedroom, two-bathroom chalet on a level lot. It includes a sizable but cozy loft and a two-car garage.
Air Conditioning was installed in 2022.

The property comfortably sleeps six adults, and nearly every window offers unobstructed views of the beautiful meadow or forest. Surrounded by Forest Service or Conservancy lands on both sides, this home is a peaceful getaway, perfect for families and friends.

This is NOT a party house. It is a family neighborhood with full-time residents. Noise travels across the meadow and can disturb residents. We have a strict noise and light policy (10 pm to 8 am) out of respect for our neighbors and El Dorado County regulations.

The first floor has a kitchen planned for guests who enjoy cooking; the kitchen is well-equipped. The kitchen is open, and the cook is not isolated from other guests. The dining area has a large table that seats eight. The living area features a gas-burning fireplace, a flat-screen TV, vaulted ceilings, and stunning views of the vast open meadow. There are two bedrooms, a fully renovated bathroom, and a laundry area with a newly installed large-capacity washer and dryer. The cabin has a tankless water heater for endless hot water!

Upstairs, you will find an open-beam ceiling, a large bedroom with a small balcony, a bathroom, a loft area with stunning views, comfortable seating, a pull-out queen bed, a flat-screen TV, and an open space with plenty of room to lounge or play.
The back deck opens to our beautiful meadow with miles of hiking and biking trails nearby.
During the summer months, enjoy using the Weber gas grill and outdoor furniture.


Located off Pioneer Trail, this home is a short drive from everything. In the winter, world-class skiing is 10 minutes away at Heavenly Ski Resort. In warmer months, enjoy some of Tahoe’s best beaches just a short drive away. Our favorite, Kiva Beach, is a dog-friendly beach with free parking and a stunning view of Mt Tallac. Head to the Beacon Bar and Grill for lakeside live music and their famous “Rum Runner.” There are four golf courses within a 20-minute drive of the cabin. For year-round fun, Stateline is 6 miles away. At Stateline, you will find many restaurants, bars, shops, and casinos.

The town of Meyers is only a few minutes down the road. There you will find our fantastic local grocery store, Holiday Market, two golf courses, local restaurants, and endless hiking and biking trails.

Family Comfort

We enjoyed the location off of Pioneer Trail. It was a convenient distance to grocery market, Heavenly Village shops, hiking and beaches within 10-25 miniutes away. It felt like a comfortable cozy home away from home in the mountains. We had plenty of room for our family to connect with each other and retreat to rest for a nap. We were able to make family meals with ease, while doing a load of laundry as needed. We would definitely like to book this again. I would recommend this vacation rental to friends and family.

Best Place

We have stayed in many short term rentals and this has been the best place for us. Melinda was very responsive and her place had an open floor plan allowing our family of 6 adults and two dogs to gather comfortably with full view of the lush meadow in the back of the house. The house was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Our family likes to cook and we love that the kitchen had everything we needed including sharp kitchen knives. The extra touches of having tissue boxes around the house and make up removers and mosquito repellent wipes in the bathrooms felt like we were staying at a nice hotel but with all the comforts of home. You can tell there was much thought given to make you feel welcome and taken care of. The house is also within short driving distance to hikes, a great dog beach, the marina for water activities and good eateries. We highly recommend this beautiful home and would stay here again.

Great Home

We were very fortunate to have found this gem of a home. Owners were easy to work with. Home is clean and in great location. Beautiful meadow behind the home. Kitchen is well stocked, bathrooms were clean with extra soap and shampoo. Beds were comfortable . I would stay again!!

Another Great Stay

This is our second stay at this VRBO. Again, well stocked; everything is easily accessible. Considerations are definitely made for guests in mind. Comfortable upstairs bed. Haven't used downstairs bedrooms as our children are in college and have not been able to join us on our past couple trips. Home itself is nice and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Tahoe. We will definitely be back.

Perfect summer stay!

We had a wonderful time at the cabin! We loved the location - close to the main highway, but not near all the crowds, AND right next to a nice trail for walking or bike riding with the kids. The kids loved the swings out back and building forts with fallen branches. Communication was excellent! I had a few questions throughout the planning process and the owners were very detailed in providing recommendations and even quickly responded to a message on our day of arrival. Would definitely stay here again.

Felt like home only Better

Our family has visit Lake Tahoe for decades, we have camped, stayed in lodges, hotels. Last year we took our 86 year old mother to celebrate her birthday as Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf Lake are her favorite places. We needed a place comfortable for her that could accommodate 8 of us. This was PERFECT. This was a year later only this time we celebrated her memory, she walked into heaven this year. We all loved being in this beautiful serene home to laugh and cry and laugh some more. It was glorious to cook in this kitchen and just sit on the patio watching the meadow… morning coffee, evening glass of wine. Melinda is an incredible host so attentive and thought of everything in her home. This is a gem of a place perfectly located near heavenly village and easily everywhere we needed to be. Thank you Melinda, what a blessing.

Amazing house at the best location

This is our favorite VRBO and our second stay in this amazing house. The location absolutely can’t be beat. A gorgeous meadow out the back door. Miles of trails at the end of the street. The house is also clearly taken care of and the best stocked rental we have ever stayed at. A fully stocked kitchen including all needed pots/pans etc. and an impressive amount of seasonings, etc. that make a huge difference. We were happy, warm and cozy even when the weather was intense. Owners are easy to communicate with, super kind and responsive. They made coming in and out around storms stress free. We will definitely be back to our favorite rental again!

Perfect Place To Relax and Watch Wildlife

This chalet is beyond perfection! Besides being charming, fully stocked with everything you need, and impeccably decorated to reflect the mountain/lake surroundings, it is located close to miles of trails that you can hike for hours. Melinda, the host, is absolutely wonderful, answers all of your questions and gives excellent tips! The best part is the fact that the chalet abuts the trail system, you routinely get to see all kinds of critters, including bear and coyotes. They leave you alone and we left them alone, but it was magical to watch them walk through the giant meadow that faces the deck. The cabin is located in the best part of Tahoe b/c it gives you access to all of the Tahoe region, but also is a quick jaunt to some of our preferred hikes down by Markleeville and Kit Carson. We normally spend all day at a lake or on the trails, but found ourselves coming home earlier in the evening to enjoy the deck and watch wildlife. Do heed Melinda's warning about keeping your pets on leashes when outside, but while my dog barked like crazy at the bear, the bear wouldn't even give my dog the courtesy of a glance. We aren't nightlife folks, but if you desire the casinos and bars, they are 5 to 10 minutes down the street. Skiing is also right down the street. If you are looking for a winter wonderland, I have to imagine the trails next to the cabin would be incredible for snowshoeing. The chalet truly has something to offer for everyone!

Awesome Family Home!

The home is beautiful as pictured on the web. We are from bay area and we go about once or twice a year to Tahoe. The cleanliness is most important for our family and unlike some rentals, there are no dust around in the house. Its a pet friendly home but no trace of it as we walked in. The kitchen is very well stocked with all cooking utensils , pots and pans, baking item, blenders, toaster, and coffee maker. The spice items are all there, including olive oil and cooking oil. The refrigerator is new and clean. There are not coffee or tea bags, but we brought from home. The grocery store is a few minutes away with everything you need. My son wanted some clam chowders and I picked up chowder ingredients, sourdough bread from Truckee, mashmallow and hot coco at the grocery. I texted Melinda about hot water in the shower early morning and she replied back quickly. She called me back too to assure our needs were met. It was easy fix, turn the nob other way. The garage has detatched door from home, has two sleds. we had two with us so we used ours. The beds were comfortable. Pillows were okay, i usually like filled firmer pillow, the kids had no complain. Our 3 teens used the top floor room and living space. It is very spacious. We didnt have time for TV but large TV upstair and another one in the living room. Well stock for our puppy from pop bags, food cup, to all pet cleaning needs. Since we have a new puppy, we brought everything for our Chuchoo so we didnt need to use items from it. From the living room, you can open the door to backyard for the view. Meadow in the back was very spacious & very beautiful! We stayed 2 nights. The kids played two days in the back with the sleds and shovel. Since we wanted to keep away from people as much as possible during this covid, we didnt ski but the home is right near to Heavenly, Sierra at Tahoe and stateline. I offered the kids to go sled at adventure mountain and they declined. They preferred to walk around and play at the backyard in the meadow. We drove to stateline and had "the Bake Bear" cookie icecream and walked down to look at the lake from Marina. The owners keep it really nice for everyone. It was sunny week so no ftesh snow, but we had enought snow . The good thing about sunny days were you dont have to put up the chain & fast drive to your destination. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. This is like my dream home in Tahoe, no fence open meadow. I would use the home again.

Very nice property .hard to find 3bd pet friendly property.Host was great and allowed us an early check in.On the downside downstairs bath has no seperation from washer/dryer and water heater. (Even a curtain would help)Found mouse droppings Couch and two chairs in living room desperately need cleaning. I tried spot cleaning but needs a pro job.Nice having a garage but winter has taken its toll.A lot of loose concrete.Lastly door exiting upstairs bedroom to garage roof should not be usable by guests (could be hazardous for children.Comments meant to be constructive not critical. Overall had a great stay.

Our family's roots in the Lake Tahoe region date back to the early 1900's. Generations of our family have taken pleasure in all that Lake Tahoe has to offer.
After dreaming of owning a cabin for over 20 years, the time was right and we purchased Meadow View in August 2019. After months of renovations we are now able to enjoy the beautiful location!

Why they chose this property

We were looking for a cabin that offered peace and solitude, open beam ceilings were a bonus! We also wanted a location that was convenient to beaches, skiing, golfing, hiking with nearby restaurants and shopping.
Our Meadow View Chalet has conservancy lots on both sides and an empty lot behind, a perfect place to relax and unwind in every season.
