We spent 8 days at this Beautiful Lakefront home. It has everything you need and more. Very comfortable with outside seating next to the lake with beautiful views.
This house was perfect for our large family getting together for a wedding. We all had plenty of space, large bathrooms. Everything was very clean. The house manual, rules, and recommendations from the host came in key to make for easy planning.
Had an amazing time. House was well equipped and perfectly located for us. We will definitely come back. Owner was impeccable with communication. Highly recommend.
This is a fantastic property with a great view (right on the lake) and plenty of water sport options available. Our stay was for a West Point graduation and this was the perfect place to provide easy access to surrounding venues including the academy, and yet far enough away to have a sense of privacy during this incredible celebration.
We went to New York to visit all of the Jehovah’s Witnesses facilities so we were hoping this was a central spot and we were not disappointed! This house was on a beautiful lake and accommodated 9 people wonderfully! The host, Mark, was so communicative and knowledgeable…..thank you Mark! I would highly recommend this place ☺️
The property was amazing. We went for some family time and it was exactly what we needed. The house fit all of our needs. It was spacious with plenty of room for all of us. It was clean and had everything we needed. There was something for everyone to do, books for reading, movies and a calming lake. There is nothing like having morning coffee by the beautiful lake. My family loves to kayak and fish so they were able to do both.
It was easy to get to and had easy access to stores.
We all had a wonderful time and would definitely return.
Every summer we book a large home for our family get-together. Three adult children and their spouses, mom and dad and grandma. This home was one of our favorites. It was spacious, comfortable inside and out, with a beautiful kitchen for our cooks. Early mornings on the patio and card games late into the evenings. The movie projector was something new for us and that was great fun too. Our hosts were extremely helpful and communication couldn't be better. The kayaks were fun and everyone loved the narrated boat ride given by the host's brother. This rental met, and many times exceeded, our expectations!
The house was exactly as expected from the listing -- perhaps even better stocked and set up than we expected for our group of 10. The host was very communicative and helpful with questions and logistics, and the kayaks we were able to rent from his brother were a huge plus for our stay. Anyone in the family who wanted a little exercise or time outdoors could just walk out the back door and do a little kayaking! The neighbors even showed us where to find an eagle's nest along the shore. The kids in our party ended up not swimming in the lake, because right now it is on a watch list for possibly harmful algal blooms; a bit of a disappointment, but obviously not something under the host's control!
This house is everything described plus more. Clean, comfortable, well-equipped. Our host, Mark, was genial and helpful. Lovely to sit outside right by the lake and watch the sunset. We will most likely try to return next year.
We stayed for a week with family and friends that we had not seen for several years. Everyone had plenty of space to be alone or join the conversation. Gourmet kitchen! Every room is incredible! Lakeside patio and dock was perfect for early morning coffee and sunset watching. Great location 15 min to great dining and night life. Awesome hosts!
We had a wonderful long weekend at the house. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The kitchen is huge with a very large island, and is very well stocked with dishes, pots and pans etc. The best part of the house is the back patio overlooking the lake. Beautiful sunset views and a nice place to go for a swim. We will definitely rent this house again on future trips back to NY to visit family.
The house and the setting on the lake both were beautiful. There were 8 of us and we had more than enough space for the whole group; well furnished, and very comfortable. The kitchen is great - big and very well equipped. It had everything you could need. The location was very convenient to city restaurants and shopping.
The host was great to work with. He made sure to keep us updated in a very timely manner about whatever was needed, and was very helpful.
The patio on the lake was perfect. We enjoyed our time so much, and would certainly stay here for our next get together in the region. I would give this vrbo my highest recommendation.
We stayed for USMA grad week May 20-27, perfect house for our group of 7 adults only 35 min to West Point. Perfectly stocked kitchen and we cooked every night. Our host Mark even allowed me to order a brand new crock pot for the house. Kayaks were rented and on site for us to use the day we arrived. Beds were super comfortable, plenty of space for everyone plus extra room for a few unexpected college friends. Really appreciated bedrooms without stairs for my 80 yr old mom. Mark was super helpful with hiking and walking suggestions. Would definitely go back and stay in this amazing lake house. Thank You!!
My husband and I stayed at the property with two other couples. The home is inviting, comfortable and immaculate. We loved sitting on the patio and watching the sunset. The kitchen and bathrooms were well equipped. The beds were comfortable and the house was perfect for three couples with one bedroom to spare.
Mark is a perfect host. He answered any questions promptly and was very understanding when I needed to cut my trip short and pass the communication responsibility on to my friend. Mark's comprehensive Renter's Guide made it easy to make the best of the house. He had great suggestions of things to do with our favorites being StormKing, The Hudson Bridge Walk, and the Lake View restaurant that is a short walk from the house.
I highly recommend this property.
This was our first vacation with all our children and grandchildren since the start of the pandemic and it exceeded our expectations! The house was spacious and plenty of room for 8 adults and 3 children. The kitchen was huge and fully equipped/stocked- it was delightful to for all of us to cook together without tripping over each other!
Despite the heat wave, the house and lake front patio remained comfortable and cool. The lake water was very pleasant to swim in with little boat traffic. In fact it was hard to keep the kids (and adults)OUT of the water! The kids all learned to fish and swim while we were there! Mark had filled up and left several rafts and large floaties for us to use. His brother also had dropped off 2 kayaks and life preservers for the week for a VERY reasonable price. His brother even took us on a pontoon lake tour for a nominal fee!
Communication with the owner was easy. He had sent us a very complete renters guide and even called us the night before we left to go over everything. He texted us as well the day after we got there to check in with us. His recommendations for restaurants, grocery stores, sightseeing and hiking were spot on! Please make sure you make reservations at the Lake View restaurant which is a five minute walk from the house- fantastic restaurant!
Honestly, the house was so well equipped, all you need to bring are your bathing suits and fishing equipment!
Be aware of Pros and Cons and weigh them carefully.
Family of 4, spent a week in August. Fond of lakes and are quite used to this type of vacation as my husband grew up on a lake in Vermont. Decided to spend some time trying out more local spots as we are looking to purchase soon. Bottom line of this place? You won't forget that you are in someone else's house.
PROS:
Plenty of space for the family to spread out + ping pong for bad weather days
Beautiful patio looking out on the lake
Well stocked kitchen with plenty of space if you enjoy cooking your meals.
Nice showers with good water pressure and hot water on demand
CONS:
Lake is full of algea (its green/brown) and not pleasant for swimming. Zero visibility, odd smell at times.
Walking or biking locally is not safe
Security cameras! Owner discloses 2 active cameras yet there are 3, one inside garage.
Security camera out back surveys the entire back patio where you will spend the bulk of your time. Felt watched & uncomfortable.
House FULL of owner's belongings. Personal items that owner didn't want to be disturbed are left out stacked on shelves and wrapped in Saran Wrap.
Communication expectations are unreasonable and alarming. Owner expects you to immediately return any text or phone call while you are there. He did NOT make this "requirement" ahead of time.
Owner texted us the afternoon of our 1st day to ask if everything was satisfactory. We didn't respond (left my phone in my car) so he began calling (3 times in8 minutes!) At that point, unhappy he couldn't reach me, he opened complaint w/VRBO, then tried my phone 3 more times within 20 min. He left a voice mail stating that this was unacceptable & claimed I gave him a nonworking number, & if he didn't hear back soon, he'd be there in the morning to evict us. He accused me of not giving him a working number. NOTE: there was a house phone which we answered which we answered if it rang & we'd spoken on my phone previously. When we noticed the 6 missed calls, we were alarmed. Was there an emergency?? We texted owner immediately only to hear that he was "just checking in to see how things were". With the house phone, & his brother just up the road, we were shocked by his eviction threat and DRAMA. It put us off for the rest of the stay. Got the "don't forget to take out the trash" text later in the week as if we were a couple kids. So..... if you want to pay someone to house sit THEIR HOME while they are away on vacation? This is your spot. We will not recommend.
My husband and I and our three teenage boys spent a wonderful long weekend in this fantastic and very spacious house. We had plenty of room to spread out and relax, and made good use of the beautiful outdoor patio. The house was clean and very well-stocked, and the owner, Mark, was a pleasure to deal with. We enjoyed the 5 minute walk to a nearby restaurant for dinner, and were able to conveniently rent kayaks from Mark’s brother, that were ready for us when we arrived. My boys particularly enjoyed the ping pong table after long days in the sun. Thank you very much, Mark, we would definitely rent from you again!
I and a group of friends spent two weeks at this lakeside property and had a fantastic time. The house is very well equipped and is well laid out so people can hang out together or split up for different activities (ping-pong, anyone?). It was great to be able to dine outdoors on the back patio and watch the sun set over the lake each night. Just magical. One thing that was not obvious to me before arriving is that the loft is only accessible by going through the master bedroom. Not a problem for us, but something to be aware of. The owner was excellent in communicating with me and providing detailed instructions for everything. Thank you, Mark, for sharing your wonderful property!
My family and I greatly enjoyed our stay here. Mark is a wonderful host, and made the process easy. The house was well stocked, and as amazing, if not more so, as the pictures make it look!
This house was in great condition. It was clean, the owner was very responsive, and our family had a fabulous time. We brought paddle boards and used them everyday! We even saw a bald eagle around the lake when we were paddle boarding. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking pans, utensils, storage, etc. very easy to cook and stay at home. It’s a great place to stay, relax and enjoy the beauty.
The house and lake are beautiful. So many choices of places to sit, play games and enjoy the lake. This is the best equipped kitchen of any house I've ever rented. Dining at the Lake House Restaurant which is only just down the road was fun and the food was very good. We would return.
